Service to humanity is the true measure of freedom.

The Governor made this assertion at an interdenominational church service held at the Cathedral Church of St.Peter, Ake, Abeokuta, to commemorate the 65 th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence.

Represented by his Deputy, Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Governor Abiodun said the celebration should rekindle hope and faith in the nation’s future, adding that the founding fathers envisioned a country where opportunities abound and no one is oppressed.

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his bold economic reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda, describing them as measures that are stabilizing the currency, attracting investors, and laying the foundation for inclusive prosperity.

Governor Abiodun also highlighted his administration’s strides in infrastructure, health, education and youth empowerment, noting that unity has been the cornerstone of governance in the state in line with the President’s vision.

In his sermon entitled A New Nigeria is Possible, the time is Now, “the Diocesan Bishop of Awori Anglican Diocese, Reverend Johnson Akintomide, urged Nigerians not to dwell on the past but to embrace national transformation through prayers, godly leadership, and rejection of corruption and tribalism.

Reverend Akintomide congratulated President Tinubu and Governor Abiodun on the Independence milestone.

He prayed for God’s intervention over hardship, insecurity and injustice, and also led special prayers for Nigeria, Ogun state, political leaders, traditional rulers and spiritual institutions.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has commended the Nigeria Police Force for its efforts at securing lives and properties in the state.

Governor Abiodun gave the commendation on Tuesday when he received the Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG in charge of South West region, Mr. Abiodun Alabi, in his office.

The Governor lauded the collaborative efforts of Ogun, Oyo and Lagos state commands in tackling crimes, particularly on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, stating that this has brought down the rate of criminality in that corridor.

Speaking earlier, DIG Alabi said there was the need for interface with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective community policing in the country, adding that his visit was in line with the directive of the IGP for the six DIGs to tour their regions, assess security situation and come up with strategies to end insecurity.

He thanked Governor Abiodun for always supporting the force, even as he pledged the readiness of his men to up their game and provide the State with the needed security.

While fielding questions from newsmen after meeting the governor, DIG Alabi said that though there were pockets of kidnapping and cultism and other related crimes, the Southwest was relatively peaceful when compared to other regions.

He added that his team has taken notice of the areas crimes are prevalent, assuring that his men would work towards providing security in all parts of the southwest region.

DIG Alabi maintained that Ogun State, despite being the industrial capital of the country, remained one of the most peaceful, assuring the people that more security measures would be put in place to sustain the peaceful atmosphere.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has said that there would be overall development in the state if civil and public servants rededicate themselves and see their jobs as a call to duty.

Governor Abiodun stated this while inspecting offices at the State Secretariat, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta.

While pledging that his administration would continue to give priority to the welfare of workers, Governor Abiodun noted that as the engine room of government, workers have a lot to offer the state through hard work and dedication.

Also, the Secretary to the State government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi, said the visit would encourage and strengthen the cordial relationship between workers and government.

In a remark, the Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro, who said that the visit was a morale booster and assurance that workers were not left alone, called on workers to always be at their duty posts.

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State says the waivers granted to some companies to operate during the ongoing lockdown in the state was to enable the economy to stay afloat when the battle against Coronavirus pandemic is eventually won.

The governor made this known while addressing newsmen on the two identified new positive cases of Coronavirus in the state.
