An accident that occurred on Tuesday Morning around Moniya Police station has left two people in critical condition and three others badly injured.

Our correspondent who visited the scene, reports that the accident involved a commercial bus with Registration number YRE380XA, heading towards Moniya.

The bus was said to have had a brake failure and rammed into a Mack Trailer parked in front of the Police station while trying to prevent colliding with other commuters.

A witness, Mr Bayo Opeyemi said men of the Federal Road Safety Corps had however taken victims of the accident to the University College Hospital for prompt medical attention.

Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Ngozi Onadeko says the perpetrators of the dastardly attack on the premises of Radio Nigeria, Amuludun 99.1 FM, Moniya, Ibadan, would be made to face justice.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP. Adewale Osifeso concerning the attack by some hoodlums on Amuludun FM Premises which left four cars and the glass door at the entrance of the media house damaged.

Mr. Osifeso explained that preliminary investigation gathered reveal that following the face-off between members of Soludero, a local vigilante group and some criminal elements around Sasa Area, Ojo, Akinyele LGA of Oyo State while on routine patrol, on Saturday 31st July 2021, at about 0400HRS during which one “Kabati”, a member of the criminal gang sustained gunshot injuries and was confirmed dead at the hospital.

He said consequent upon this, the hoodlums in their numbers stormed the Soludero presumed office, located at the premises of the Federal Radio Coporation of Nigeria, Amuludun 99.1 FM, Moniya Ibadan in a bid to launch a reprisal attack.

The PPRO said upon the arrival of the hoodlums, they became agitated as none of their targets was on sight.

Consequently, the windscreens of four vehicles parked in the premises were broken along with the glass door at the entrance of the media outfit, inferring that the attack was not targeted directly at the media outfit but members of the vigilante group.

Mr. Osifeso added that investigations into the matter are currently ongoing and developments would be communicated accordingly.

Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed by an early morning fire at a property on Barracks Road, Moniya, Ibadan.

The fire incident which consumed four shops destroyed items such as herbs, automobile oil, clothing materials, kitchen utensils among others wares.

Some of the affected shop owners, Mrs Adeola Lawal, Mrs Nafiast Olayiwola and Mrs Kafilat Ajibola said they received distress calls on the incident early this morning.

The shop owners explained that by the time they rushed to the scene, the fire was already out of hand and they could not phantom the cause. 

All efforts of the sympathizers to quench the fire were fruitless as it could not be contained.

As at the time of filing this report, our correspondent observed that remnant from the incident have been packed while the Moniya Divisional Police Headquarters had been briefed.

Oyo State Police Command says there is relative peace in Shasha Community after the fracas that ensued between Hausa’s and Yorubas.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi stated this in Ibadan while speaking with Radio Nigeria in a telephone interview.

The Police spoke persons who frowned at the incident said the command as deployed team of security men to Shasha with a view to preventing any possible break of law and order.

The Police PPRO noted that the Commissioner of Police had inspected the community  and had appealed to the aggrieved people in the community on the need to live in harmony.

Commenting on the number of casualties recorded at the incident, Mr. Fadeyi disclosed that only one person died at the incident.

He however cautioned the youths to shun violence as the police would not tolerate any unrest in the area.

Oyo State Government has lauded the Federal Government initiative for the establishment of the Extended Special Public Works, ESPW, programme targeted at addressing the unemployment challenge facing the country.

The Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde gave the commendation during the flagging off of the programme in the state, held at Akinyele Local Government Secretariat, Moniya, Ibadan.

Governor Makinde who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan stated that the ESPW programme was a direct attack on unemployment.

The governor noted that the programme would go a long way in bringing succour to the 1000 beneficiaries from the local government and complement efforts of the state government in addressing the problem of unemployment.

Governor Makinde who noted flaw in the selection process of the committee members said such should be corrected in future.

He also urged the beneficiaries to see the programme as an opportunity to contribute their quota to nation building and also improve their living standard.

In an address, the Minister of State for the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Mr Festus Keyamo represented at the occasion by Mr Olufemi Ajao, said the programme engaged 774,000 selected unemployed Nigerians across the 774 local government areas in the country.

Mr Keyamo added that the Federal Government would closely monitor the implementation of the programme to ascertain the efficient utilisation of every resource, human and materials, committed to the programme.

The Director-General of National Directorate of Employment, NDE, Mallam Nuhu Fikpo who spoke through the NDE Coordinator in Oyo state; Mrs Olayinka Olayemi urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the federal government’s gesture by diligently executing their assignment throughout the duration of the programme.

General Manager, Amuludun FM, Moniya Ibadan, Rev.Niyi Dahunsi stated this at the send off ceremony in honor former General Manager, Amuludun FM, Chief Olusola Adewale.
Rev. Dahunsi who described the former General Manager as an exemplary leader charged members of staff to build on the legacies he left behind.

In a separate remark, some of the staff and well wishers eulogised the outgoing General Manager, saying he would be greatly missed for his fatherly roles.

Reacting, Chief Olusola Adewale who was full of joy appreciated members of staff of Amuludun for the honor bestowed on him, and advised them to be diligent and committed in discharging their duties.

Highlights of the event include ewi rendition, and presentation of gifts to the former General Manager.

Several people have been injured as a result of an accident on Moniya-Iseyin road.
The incident occurred today in front of Kings College, Moniya, Ibadan.
Report says the drivers of the two cars, a Toyota RAV4 and a Toyota Camry engaged in excessive speeding, and consequently lost control.
Although no lives were lost, the two vehicles were seriously damaged while occupants sustained various degrees of injuries.
They were rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment.

Rescue team of the NSCDC from Akinyele Divisional Office were on ground for traffic control.

The alleged Akinyele serial killer, Sunday Shodipe has been transferred to the Nigeria Correctional Services for maximum security.

Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Nwachukwu Enwonwu stated this while parading Shodipe after he was rearrested alongside other suspects who were arrested for various offences.

For some time now, residents of Akinyele Local Government Area in Ibadan, Oyo State have been facing serious issues of insecurity leading to killing and raping of some of the residents.

This forced the police to increase efforts which resulted into the arrest of a nineteen year old boy, Sunday Shodipe.

After his arrest, the residents heaved a sigh of relief that days of terror were over.

The relief was however cut short few days after, when Sunday Shodipe escaped from police custody and murdered another resident of Akinyele.

The alleged serial killer, Sunday Shodipe who said the herbalist that was locked alongside him begged the officer on duty to buy local gin and kolanut which the herbalist used to fortify him (Shodipe) in aiding his escape.

Shidipo noted that he went straight to Akinyele to kill another woman as directed by the herbalist before going into hiding before he was rearrested.

Also, a group of suspected armed robbers who robbed a bank at Okeho Area of Oyo said they killed one officer and blew up the ATM and carted away an unspecified amount of money.

One of the suspects, Muhammed Aliasu who claimed that he was forced to join in the robbery, said they were later arrested by some local hunters.

Another suspect, who is also a private security guard, Daniel Amanda said he met with a stranded woman at night who needed somewhere to stay till daybreak whom he raped under the guise of offering her refuge at his home.

Other suspected criminals who were arrested for various offences ranging from rape, defilement, armed robbery, kidnaping and murder confessed to the charges levelled against them and pleaded for leniency.

Parading the suspects, Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Nwachuku Enwonwu said he appreciated the collaboration of the community who made the re-arrest of Sunday Shodipe a success and called for continued support as the police could not be everywhere.

Mr Enwonwu pledged the commitment of the command to reduce crime and criminalities to the barest minimum.

The Commissioner of Police added that all the suspects would soon be charged to court after proper investigation.

Exhibits found with the suspects included four AK-47 riffles, three assault rifles, many live cartridges, one motorcycle, three television sets, local charms and some cash.

Unknown assailants again visited the people of Alaja Community area of Moniya, Akinyele Local Government in Ibadan Oyo State around 1:00am today, attacked a 45 year old Mrs. Adeola Bamidele and her daughter aged 23 with a machete.

Investigations revealed that the assailants earlier visited a nearby house where they were unable to gain entry into the house because the gate prevented them.

The woman, Adeola Bamidele explained that she was trying to rescue her daughter, Dolapo Bamidele when she was also slashed with a machete and they made away with her two phones.

Her daughter, Dolapo Bamidele could not talk due to the serious injury she suffered but her mother explained that their neighbours rushed them to the hospital.

The Alaja Landlord Association has informed the Moniya Police Station about the incident.

Stakeholders in Oyo state want residents of Moniya in Akinyele Local Government Area to cooperate with security agencies to curb crimes.

They made the call in Ibadan while reacting to the spate of crimes in the state.

Parents of a 21-year-old deaf and dumb man, Daniel Awotunde who was murdered at Akingbile Area of Moniya on Tuesday night want law enforcement agents to fish out the killers of their son.

The father of the victim, Mr Joel Awotunde who stated this in an interview with Radio Nigeria expressed shock over the gruesome murder of his son.

Also speaking, Chairman, Landlord Association Ilupeju-Aponmonde Area, Mr Ade Adedeji and one of the residents, Mr Peter Sanyaolu appealed to government to proffer solutions to the killing of the innocent citizens and bring the perpetrators of the evil act to book.

In the same vein, a brother of the deceased, Mayowa Awotunde lamented the gruesome murder of Daniel called on the security agents to fish out his killers.

All efforts to speak with Oyo State Public Relations Officer, Mr Gbenga Fadeyi proved abortive at the time of filing this report.

The remains of Pastor Emmanuel Ajibola Anibijuwon of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Amuludun FM, Moniya, has been laid to rest in Ilase, Osun State.

Earlier, a funeral was held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Jesus Champion, Oyo Province 4, Molete, Ibadan.

The church choir rendered a special piece to bid Ajibola Anibijuwon farewell. 

In a sermon, Pastor in charge, Oyo Province Four, Wale Popoola said death was an inevitable end of all man, charging mankind to live to please God 

Pastor Popoola who noted that the deceased was God-fearing and a loving man said testimonies revealed that Ajibola had conquered and had gone to rest.

Ajibola, the 43-year-old pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, and marketing staff of Radio Nigeria, Amuludun FM was a father of three; Testimony, Treasure and John.

In an emotion-laden speech, wife of the deceased said her husband was a rare gem who left the world too soon.

Management and staff of Radio Nigeria described the deceased as a God-fearing and amiable man.

Emmanuel Ajibola Anibijuwon joined the services of Radio Nigeria in 2011, he worked with Radio Nigeria Gold FM, Ibadan National Station and Amuludun FM.
