Police command, Ogun State says, it has put a robust security arrangement in place to ensure hitch free Sallah celebration.

 The Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun who stated this in Abeokuta noted that men and officers of the command had been deployed to strategic locations to nip any violent crime in the bud.

Mr Ajogun said Area Commanders and DPOs had been directed to embark on 24 hours surveillance around various praying grounds as well as events and recreation centers across the State.

The Commissioner of Police while felicitating Muslim faithful urged them to reflect on the reasons for the Sallah celebration and be good ambassadors of Islam by ensuring peace at all times.

 He also appealed to members of the public to alert the Police whenever they noticed any strange or suspicious faces, gathering or movement in their domain in order to assist the security agencies to perform their duties to the optimal level.

Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers for allegedly for robbing a gold merchant of golden chains and rings valued at six million naira at gun point.

The suspects Jerry Chukwedu and Tomiwa Olawale were arrested after one Abubakar Hassan reported the incident at Ogijo Divisional Police Headquarters.

The Ogun State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the arrest in Abeokuta said three golden rings valued at three million, one hundred and twenty-one thousand seven hundred naira was recovered from them.

Mr Oyeyemi noted that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun had ordered the transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested nine members of a notorious land grabbing syndicate for unleashing violence on people of Agbogun Village in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State.

The suspects, Gbenga Odeniyi, Owolabi Shobayo, Michael Ramoni, Idowu Dauda, Femi Fadahunsi, Rasmus Hammed, Ade Lukman, Yakubu Akinwande and Sikiru Balogun were arrested after the Baale of the village had reported the case Obada Oko Divisional Headquarters that the suspects invaded the village and violently attacking the people, extorting money from those working on their sites.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi in a statement in Abeokuta said, the DPO Obada Oko Division, Mr Benard Ediagbonya mobilized his patrol team to the scene where they met the suspects attacking one Mrs Oniyide Folashade and one Mrs Agbogun who were developing their sites. 

Mr Oyeyemi explained that, the hoodlums fled the scene upon sighting the police, but they were chased and nine of them were apprehended.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun has ordered a massive manhunt for the rest of the hoodlums. 

Mr Ajogun advised land grabbers to stay clear of the state pointing out that the as the command would not tolerate any form of violence on the good people of the state from anyone or group no matter how highly placed such persons might be.

Youths and politicians caught with arms in Ogun State would henceforth be prosecuted for cultism, illegal possession of arms and robberies prevailing in their area of arrest.

Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun disclosed this at a stakeholders meeting with community leaders, youths groups and security agencies at the Ijebu-Ode Police Area Command, Igbeba.

Correspondent Wale Oluokun reports that prevailing cultists clashes in Ijebu Ode between rival cultists groups was reenacted while the police commissioner was holding meeting with the stakeholders.

A 45-year-old man, Akanji Oluwaseyi has been arrested by operatives of Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police for forcefully having carnal knowledge of his 13-year-old daughter.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said in Abeokuta that the suspect was arrested after the victim reported at Obantoko Divisional Headquarters that her father was having unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

Mr Oyeyemi explained that the victim told the policemen that she was fetching water for her father when the suspect grabbed her and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

The command’s spokesman who said the suspect was arrested at his residence noted that he initially denied the allegation but when he was confronted by the victim, he was dumbfounded.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.

A 35-year-old human trafficking kingpin, Comfort Innocent has been apprehended by operatives of Ogun State Police Command over the abduction and trafficking of two under-aged girls.

The suspect was arrested after two residents of Siun Town in Obafemi Local Government Area of the state, Oluwaseun Aduratola and Sakirat Fasasi reported at Owode Egba Police Station that the suspect abducted their daughters, Blessing Aduratola, 15 and Hasisat Fasasi, 16.

The residents alleged that the suspect was about to take the two girls to Libya where they would be forced into prostitution.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in Ogun State, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the arrest of the suspect in a statement in Abeokuta said she had confessed committing the crime.

Mr Oyeyemi said confessed that she used to send the girls to her Italy-based husband through Libya where they would be used for prostitution.

He pointed out that the victims had been rescued from Kaduna by the police.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.

He also appealed to parents to always be mindful of their children’s well-being especially the females in order to keep them safe from wolves in human skin.

Police in Ogun state have arrested five people for allegedly kidnapping and killing a forty-five-year-old house wife, Memunat Akinde and a motorcyclist, Ibikunle Ajose in Ado Odo Ota local government area of the state.


The husband of the deceased had reported at Ado-Odo Ota divisional headquarters of the Ogun State Police Command that his wife was yet to return from the market where she had gone to buy fish.


The spokesman of the Ogun State Police Command, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a statement in Abeokuta that efforts of the policemen paid off when one of the suspects, Okediran Monsuru was traced to Badagry and apprehended.


Mr Oyeyemi said his arrest led the team to the arrest of other members of the gang including Ajaoba Monday, Akewusola Wajud and Nupo Pona.


He said the suspects confessed to the crime, explaining that they were working for a notorious land grabber who they simply identified as” Lebo” who gave them directive to slaughter the victims.


The spokesman of the Ogun State Police Command who said the head of the victim was recovered from their herbalist, Dasu Sunday noted that a manhunt had been launched for their fleeing principal simply known as “Lebo”.


Mr Oyeyemi said the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun has directed that the arrested suspects be charged to court without further delay.

Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that the mace of the Ogun State House of Assembly, OGHA has been stolen. 

The command spokesman, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi while speaking with newsmen, however noted that a part of the mace had been recovered while efforts are in top gear to arrest the perpetrators.

Immediately the story broke that the Mace, which is the official symbol of authority of the House had been stolen, newsmen swiftly moved to the Ogun State House of Assembly Complex at Oke Mosan where the security men prevented them from gaining access to the building.

The security men at the gate said the order to prevent journalists from gaining access was from the clerk of the house.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun had earlier visited the Assembly Premises to have an on the spot assessment of the burglary incident at the Speaker’s office. 

Presence of armed police officers was also noticed at the front of the Assembly complex to fortify the offices.

The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Mr Yusuf Adejojo while reacting, denied that the story of the burglary was not true.

However, the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed that some hoodlums had gained access into Assembly Chambers from the roof and removed the mace.

He said the investigation has led to the recovery of a part of the mace noting that the efforts was being intensified to recover the rest of the stolen mace.

Mr Oyeyemi said no arrest had been made and promised that the face of the perpetrators would be unveiled.

Another baby factory has been uncovered by men of the Ogun State Police Command at Mowe area of Obafemi Owode Local Government.

A statement by the command’s spokesman, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi explained that investigation had linked the baby factory to one Florence Ogbonna currently having a pending case on related issue.

He hinted that the discovery at Lagos Street, Mowe, was made possible following the complaints from residents of the area to the Mowe Divisional Police Headquarters on the suspicion of sale of babies.

Mr Oyeyemi said the residents of the area had complained of sighting ladies not carrying babies after months of carrying pregnancies in the area.

He explained that a man suspected to be working for the operator of the home was also arrested with four women and four children including a heavily pregnant and a nursing mother whose baby was suspected to have been sold.

In the meantime, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police has ordered manhunt for the said suspect Florence Ogbonna and the transfer of the case to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit for investigation.

The discovery would be the second within a week in Ogun State from the same local government area also linked to the same Florence Ogbonna.

Three members of a robbery gang who have been terrorizing Iju, Ota and its environs have been apprehended by the men of Ogun State Police Command.

The suspects, Bamidele Oluwashina, Adebowale Kehinde and Oluwasegun Abayomi were arrested following a distress call received by the police at Onipanu Divisional Headquarters that robbers were dispossessing people of their valuables.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement in Abeokuta said the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Onipanu Division, Mr Bamidele Job mobilized his patrol team to the scene and engaged the robbers in a gun duel where the three suspects were promptly arrested.

Mr Oyeyemi pointed out that one locally made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from them, while one of the victims, Tosin Ajayi who was matcheted on the head by the hoodlums had been taken to the hospital for treatment.

A 70 year old old man, Hunsu Sunday has been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command for allegedly defiling his 15-year-old granddaughter and subsequently impregnating her.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested after the aunt of the victim had reported the sexual assault on the girl at Ado-Odo Ota Divisional Headquarters.

Mr Oyeyemi said the aunt claimed that the girl had been living with her grandfather since the demise of her mother, adding that the victim informed her that her grandfather had been abusing her sexually for quite some time.

The Ogun PPRO who said the suspect was arrested, explained further that the grandfather confessed to the crime, claiming that he was not aware that her granddaughter was pregnant.

Mr Oyeyemi said the victim had been taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Ogun State Command of Nigeria Police Force has arrested a twenty-one-year-old suspect, Julius Afuape for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of a thirteen-year-old girl.

The suspect was arrested following a report by the Aunt of the victim who reported at Ayetoro Divisional Headquarters that her niece had been sexually abused by the suspect.

The command’s spokesman, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi says in a statement that the victim explained that she was alone in the house when the suspect who claimed that he was sent by the victim’s aunt to come and service her generator had carnal knowledge of her. 

The statement explains that the suspect who had fled the community after the incident was arrested and had confessed to committing the crime.

It adds that the victim had been taken to the General Hospital where it was medically confirmed that the victim’s virginity had been taken.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has commended the State Police Command and other security agencies in the state for bringing to a halt the reign of a serial killer that had been terrorising people of Ogere and Iperu in Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.

Prince Abiodun who gave the commendation when he received the Ogun State Police Commissioner and some of the high ranking officers of the command in his Abeokuta Oke Mosan office, said that it was unfortunate that the serial killer who in the last few months had killed about nine people became a casualty in the process of his arrest.

The Governor also said that his administration had to place a bounty on the serial killer as the state government was no longer comfortable with the situation.

Governor Abiodun maintained that his administration would not tolerate any form of crime and criminality in the state, and gave the assurance that the state government would continue to take necessary steps that would improve security architecture in the state.

In a remark, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun who noted that the serial killer, Samuel Dosunmu, also known as “Hacker Spartan” met his Waterloo when he decided to engage men of the command during an exercise carried out to arrest him, appreciated the state governor for his unwavering support for the command.

Ogun State Police Command, has paraded twenty-eight suspected criminals involved in robbery, murder, cultism, rape and kidnapping.

Among the suspects were rapists, eight armed robbers, one kidnapper and two land grabbers terrorising Ogijo Area of Ogun State.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edward Ajogun while parading the suspects arrested at different areas of the state stated that assorted charms, locally made double-barreled pistols, live cartridges among others were recovered from the suspects.

Mr. Ajogun called on criminals in the state to submit their ammunitions noting that the command had begun house to house search for illegal arms.

An Ogun State-based clergyman also paraded for alleged rape and putting of two under-aged sisters in the family way, Ebenezer Ajigbotoluwa while speaking advised Nigerians not to castigate his religion and accepted committing the crime.

He was also alleged to have swindled the family of the victims to the tune of 1.5million naira.

Men of Ogun State Police Command have arrested a two-man robbery gang who specialized in drugging their victims before dispossessing them of their motorcycles.

The suspects, Chidi Umeh 40-year-old and Obinna Onyebuchi 28-year-old were arrested following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer, D.P.O, of Owode Egbado division from the residents of Alanu area of Owode Yewa that the two men who have drugged a motorcyclist were about taking his bike away.

The spokesman of Ogun State Command, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said in Abeokuta that the D.P.O Owode Egbado Division, Mr Olabisi Elebute led the anti-robbery team to the scene where the two suspects were apprehended with the help of members of the public.

Mr Oyeyemi said one of suspects who claimed to be from Nnewi in Anambra State confessed to the crime pointing out that he used to come to Owode area to snatch motorcycles from the owners after drugging them through energy drink which he used to give his victims on a friendly note.

A forty-six-year-old herbalist, Okikiola Adesina has been arrested alongside four armed robbery suspects by Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, in Osiele, in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Other suspects are Dayo Ajala, Ismaila Badmus, Joseph Sunday and Chuckwuemeka Paul and were arrested following an information received by the SARS operatives about their hideout at Odeda area.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi told journalists in a statement that the herbalist used to fortify the suspects spiritually in preparation for their nefarious operations and also used to initiate new members into their fold.

Mr Oyeyemi said one double-barreled locally made shot gun, one battle axe, two knives and assorted dangerous charms were recovered from the suspects.

He noted that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edward Ajogun had ordered full scale investigation into the activities of the suspects with the view to prosecuting them diligently.

The new Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Mr Edward Ajogun has promised that the command under his watch will take the battle of crime fighting to the den of criminals and armed robbers.

Mr Ajogun made the promise at the Okemosan Abeokuta Governor’s office during a courtesy visit to Governor Dapo Abiodun. 

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Ajogun who was in the company of his predecessor, retired Commissioner of Police Kenneth Ebrimson noted that knowledge and intelligence based operations would be coordinated by officers and men of the command with high level of integrity. 

Mr Ajogun also said the police command would not give room to anyone or group of people bent on destroying government’s property under the guise of protest, warning that any form of protest that could turn ugly would not be tolerated in the state.

Also, the former Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Kenneth Ebrimson expressed optimism that the new police commissioner would continue to ensure that the state was more secured and not conducive to criminals.

While giving assurance that his successor would sustain the tempo of security in the state, Mr Ebrimson commended Governor Abiodun for his support towards ensuring that the state under his watch became a tough ground for the criminals.

Responding, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abidoun commended the former Commissioner of Police for taking proactive steps to curb crime and criminality in the state.

The governor who also explained that the police in the state under the leadership of Mr Ebrimson were able to record a significant decrease in cultism, kidnapping and armed robbery, encouraged the new police commissioner and other security heads in the state to consolidate on the feat.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Mr Mohammed Adamu, has appointed four new Commissioners of Police for Ekiti, Bayelsa, Cross River and Ogun states.

The announcement was made via the twitter handle of the Nigeria Police Force, @PoliceNG.

The new Commissioner of Police in Ekiti is Mobayo Babatunde.

He replaces Mr Amba Asuquo who has been promoted to the rank of the Assistant Inspector General of police, AIG.

The new Commissioner of Police for Bayelsa State is Michael Okoli; that of Cross River State is Abdulkadir Jimoh and while Ogun State has Mr Edward Ajogun as the new Commissioner of Police.
