To stem the alarming rate of the effect of hard drugs among the youths, parents, guardians and the society at large must take major roles at waging war against the menace. 

Former director, National Orientation Agency, NOA, Oyo state, Mrs Dolapo Dosunmu made this known at a lecture in Ibadan, while speaking on the implication of drug abuse and trafficking. 

Mrs Dosunmu who said parents must rise up to their responsibilities by instilling family and moral values in their children, blamed the recent trend in violence on indiscriminate intake of hard drugs by youth. 

She said the behaviour of a child was greatly influenced by his background and family care. 

Mrs Dosunmu appealed to parents to be good mentors to their children and provide leadership by example.  Mosope Mosope Kehinde

As residents of Oyo State join the rest of the world to celebrate Christmas, the National Orientation Agency, NOA, has warned members of the public not to let down their guards in the fight against COVID-19. 

State Director, NOA, Mrs Dolapo Dosunmu gave the warning during a sensitization campaign on preventive measures against the second wave of COVID-19 and road safety measures during yuletide which was held at Gate and Iwo Road motor parks. 

The sensitization was in collaboration with Federal Road Safety Corp, FRSC and the park managers.  

Mrs Dosunmu admonished residents of Oyo State to be wary of the disturbing increase on the cases of Coronavirus, hence a need to be careful in safeguarding themselves by obeying all the COVID-19 protocols. 

She emphasised that, residents should make wearing of face-mask, washing of hands and maintaining social distancing part of their daily routine.

The park managers in their separate remarks promised to embark on regular sensitization of their members on road safety and measures against the spread of COVID-19.

To achieve the 2025 target of ending open defecation in Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Water Resources has partnered the Oyo State National Orientation Agency, NOA, to sensitize members of the public. 

At a capacity building for community orientation officers on Open Defecation-Free Nigeria Campaign, Oyo State Director, National Orientation Agency, Mrs Dolapo Dosunmu advocated the need for local government and households to make toilets available at all levels. 

Mrs Dosunmu also appealed to state houses of assembly to replicate the 2019 Executive Order 009 of President Muhammadu Buhari that tackles open defecation in Nigeria. 

Representing the Minister of Water Resources, Alhaji Suleiman Adamu, Mr Joseph Adeyemo said the aim of the training was to enlighten Nigerians on the harmful effects of open defecation. 

He said the federal government also aimed to achieve positive behavioral change through participatory engagement of household and communities. 

The minister believed that the workshop will contribute in no small measure to the efforts of the federal government towards achieving an Open Defecation Free society by 2025.  

Alhaji Adamu said the capacity building for NOA officials organized simultaneously in all the states of the federation was also to leverage on the already established structure of the agency. 

The event had in attendance NOA community mobilization officers in the thirty-three local government areas of Oyo state and other stakeholders.

Oyo State Director, National Orientation Agency, NOA, Mrs Dolapo Dosunmu has challenged the state government through the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism to intensify effort at promoting indigenous languages. 

Mrs Dosunmu stated this while receiving the Special Adviser to Governor Makinde on Culture and Tourism, Mr Ademola Ige, at the NOA Secretariat, Ibadan. 

The NOA boss who noted that the ways local languages and cultural values are going into extinction called for concern, said local languages and traditional attires were enough to promote tourism in the state. 

Mrs Dosunmu advised Oyo State Government to declare a day during the week that will workers wear traditional attire and communicate in their local languages to encourage members of the public. 

Earlier, Special Adviser to the Governor on Culture and Tourism, Mr Ademola Ige said the purpose of the familiarization visit was to seek partnership with NOA, Oyo State to enlighten people on the untapped potentials in tourism sector of the state. 

Mr Ige said the state will soon hold a tourism summit with a view to moving the economy forward.
