Commissioner resolves Ekiti NUJ Crises

The Commissioner for Information in Ekiti state, Mr Muyiwa Olumilua has finally resolved the crisis rocking the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ.

At a peace meeting held in his office in Ado Ekiti, Mr Olumilua pleaded with aggrieved members from the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State, BSES and the state Ministry of Information to sheath their swords in the interest of peace and the union.

He told them to forget their grievances and join hands with the state officers so as to builds a virile union.

In his remark, the state chairman of NUJ, Mr Rotimi Ojomoyela thanked the commissioner for wading into the crisis and welcomed the aggrieved members back to the Union, with a pledge that all chapels would be carried along in the union’s activities.

Also speaking, NUJ chairman in BSES, Mr Bisi Oluwasona and his counterpart from the state ministry of Information, Mr Adeola Olofe promised to mobilise their members back to the union.

On his part, a former NUJ state chairman, who is now the special Adviser to the speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly on Media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo pleaded with aggrieved members to give peace a chance.

The NUJ members from BSES and the state ministry of Information had not been attending the union’s programmes since 2017 due to the outcome of the last election which produced Mr Rotimi Ojomoyela as chairman.

The peace meeting was attended by the Ekiti state chairperson of NAWOJ, Mrs Fatima Bello and NUJ members selected from other chapels.
