President Bola Tinubu has pledged to support the agricultural and development revolution being carried by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
He stated this while speaking at the commissioning of the 76.67 KM Adebayo Alao-Akala Memorial Expressway , linking Ogbomoso with Oke-Ogun zone of Oyo State.
President Tinubu who was represented by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, said infrastructure remained the gateway to the nation’s development, adding that by linking neighbouring zones, jobs would be created and agricultural value chain would increase.
President Tinubu while commending Governor Makinde for his drive for huge investment on capital projects said the Federal Government would support governor Makinde’s agricultural revolution and agro-allied development.
“Without a good network of roads the government could not fulfill its promise and develop democracy. Oyo State held a pivotal role in the nation’s economy.
“The governor engendered a legacy for a greater future, through inclusive and modest leadership.
“The Federal Government would support Oyo State in agro-industrial mechanism”, he said.
Speaking at the event, Governor Makinde said he would not shift away from inter-connectivity plan promised back in 2019 for development across the state to reduce infrastructure deficit and move the state from poverty to prosperity.
Governor Makinde called on local and foreign enterprises to see the state as an investment destination.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Professor Kehinde Sangodoyin, said governor Makinde’s vision of connecting all regions on the state was being fulfilled.
In a remark, former Military Administrator, General Oladayo Popoola Retired, stated that governor Makinde’s strides had turned around the socioeconomic development of the state.
Also in a remark, the son of Alao-Akala and member of the House of Representatives, Olamiju Alao-Akala, thanked the governor for naming the road after his father, former governor, late Adebayo Alao-Akala.
The commissioning, which took place at the Randa area of Ogbomoso, was witnessed by the Acting National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ellia Damagum; Governor Abdulraman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin; Chief Niyi Akintola, Oladejo Arapaja, the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Laoye Afolabi, among other prominent personalities.
