Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has presented the staff of office to new Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola with a call on him to see his appointment as a call to service.

Speaking at the Coronation held in Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun urged Oba Matemilola to focus on the task of accelerating the pace of socio economic development in Owu Kingdom and Egbaland.

While pointing out that the new Olowu had requisite skills and experience to steer the ship of Owu Kingdom to a greater height, the Governor urged sons and daughters of the kingdom to cooperate with the new Monarch.

In his acceptance speech, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola said he had already mapped out agenda that would promote unity, peace and facilitate growth in the kingdom.

While appealing to the council of Chiefs, as well as sons and daughters in the kingdom to contribute their quota with trust, dedication and unity, Oba Matemilola promised to live up to the virtues, principles and values as exemplified by his predecessors.

Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Obong of Calabar Edidem Ekpo, Olu of Warri  Omoba Tsola Emiko , the Alake of Egbaland , Oba Adedotun Gbadebo were among dignitaries present at the Occasion.

An eight day programme of events for the coronation of new Olowu of Owu Abeokuta  Oba Saka Matemilola, the Otileta VII has been released.

The  programme will include celebration of the 2022 Odun Omo Olowu  on Sunday October 23, 2022 with appeasement party and press briefing.

An interdenominational prayer will also hold on Sunday October 30, 2022 with Traditionalists, Muslim and Christian faithful thanksgiving service at Oba Odeleye Park.

The New Olowu will on the same day, address a world press conference.while the coronation of Oba Matemilola hold on Monday, October 24 2022.

The  activities will also include the tour of historical places in Abeokuta, story telling and reminiscences by elderly people, games and sports.

The grand finale of the “Odun Omo Olowu” and the official presentation of staff of office by the Ogun State Government to the new monarch will hold on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the Oba Odeleye Park, Ori Omi, Owu Totoro, Abeokuta.

Oba Matemilola succeded Oba Olusanya Adegboyega Dosunmu, Amororo II who joined his ancestors last December.
