The Zonal Director, Radio Nigeria Ibadan National Station, Mr Dominic Mokikan has charged members of staff of Positive FM Akure to be more diligent in the discharge of their duties

Mr Mokikan gave the charge while presenting letters of Promotion to some Positive fm staff in Akure.

He said their promotion was a result of the hard work they exhibited in the past and encouraged to be more commitment to duty.

Mr Mokikan restated his determination to enhance staff welfare and also make the workplace conducive for them.

The General Manager, Positive FM Akure, Mrs Olubunmi Olalere congratulated the newly promoted staff, urging them to be more hardworking.

Earlier, Head of Admin, Ibadan National Station, Mr Adebayo Esho had encouraged the staff to be always good ambassadors of Radio Nigeria through good conduct and professionalism.

Some of the Promoted staff including Miss Laurel Ojo and Mr Kayode Animasaun appreciated the corporation for rewarding their service.

Despite the prevailing dire economic condition, Nigerians should remain thankful to God at all times.

The Chief Imam, Federal Secretariat Mosque, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta, Ogun State, Ustaz AbdulRafiu Adesina gave the charge in a Jumat service, as part of activities marking the twentieth Anniversary of Radio Nigeria Paramount FM Abeokuta.

Ustaz Adesina stated that any human being, who is alive till the present time, needed to be grateful to God for the gift of life, pointing out that many people had died in the struggle of life.

While advising the faithful to always exhibit the fear of Allah in all endeavours and be committed to his service, the cleric noted that in no distance time, God would intervene in all the challenges facing the Nation.

Speaking on the topic, “the Role of Radio Stations in Society”, Ustaz Adesina maintained that the positive impact of radio in the society could not be underestimated, as modern technology had made it to be an indispensable platform for the people to exchange ideas on topical and National issues.

The Islamic clergyman implored the management of Radio Nigeria Paramount FM not to let down the professional guards as they dish out various programmes to inform, educate and entertain their listeners and also maintain the lead in uplifting the people and uniting the Nation.

In a remark, the General Manager, Paramount FM Abeokuta, Mr Akinyinka Akintola, who appreciated God for sustaining operations and members of staff of the station, thanked the stakeholders that were part of the success story.

Broadcast stations have been told to always uphold professionalism in their contents.

The new State Coordinator of the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, in Ondo State, Mrs Olubunmi Kehinde gave the charge when she paid a familiarization visit to Positive FM Akure.

Mrs Kehinde who explained that NBC was not created to witch-hunt any broadcast station but to guide, regulate and checkmate their daily activities within the NBC codes.

She commended Radio Nigeria for being a model in broadcasting in terms of news reportage and programming.

Mrs Kehinde reminded broadcast stations of the need to shun partisan politics, unapproved music and inciting words especially as the 2023 elections draw nearer.

While welcoming the New NBC Coordinator to the state, the General Manager, Positive FM, Akure, Mrs Olubunmi Olalere appreciated the NBC for carrying out its duties but advocated training and retraining of content creators to enable them function within the NBC rules and regulations.

Mrs Olalere said Radio Nigeria known for “Uplifting the People And Uniting the Nation” would continue to uphold professionalism.

The Landlord Association of Information Village, Adebowale, Ondo Road Akure has commended Positive F.M for helping the community to get the attention of  government and well

Chairman of the Association spirited Nigerians towards infrastructural development.

Mr Olusola Daramola gave the commendation when he led other excutive members of the Association on a visit to Positive F.M to felicitate with the station on its recently celebrated twentieth anniversary during which a giant congratulatory card was presented to the management team.

Mr Daramola described Positive F.M as an agent of change as the information village had benefited immensely from its operations.

He hailed the radio station for dishing out unbiased news and programmes at all times promising the community’s unflinching support .

Receiving the congratulatory card, the General Manager, Positive F.M Akure, Mrs Olubunmi Olalere appreciated the gesture saying it would spur the station to do more in helping communities to grow.

Mrs Olalere who commended the residents of information village for being able to provide social amenities  through communal effort said Positive F.M would always support them in any area of development.

Activities marking the 20th Anniversary of Radio Nigeria Positive 102.5 FM has started with a roadshow.  

Staff reporter, Olufisoye Adenitan, who covered the event, reports that it was an amazing sight as excited members of staff and friends of the station moved from the popular Custom Junction to the centre of the state capital to create awareness for the 20th Anniversary of the station.

The staff members said that they were grateful to God for the successes and breakthroughs recorded in the history of the station.

So, it was dancing and singing all through the routes as the roadshow caught the attention of people in town. 

Speaking on the occasion, Head of Outside Broadcast, Mr Sunkanmi Taiwo Controller News, Mr John Ebiofini and RATTAWU State Secretary, Mr Rotimi Akande disclosed that the station had done well in impacting the people positively in fulfilment of the mandate to uplift the people and unite the nation. 

Also, a friend of the station, Mr Kazeem Emmanuel commended Positive FM for its balanced programming in Ondo state. 

Also speaking, the chairman of the 20th Anniversary, Mr Olumide Abudu explained that a dinner and award night would be a part celebration to make the anniversary memorable.

Radio Nigeria Positive FM 102.5 was Inaugurated on April 20th, 2002 by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Tributes are pouring in for the late pioneer head of news, Positive fm Akure, Pa Aderemi Adedayo.

Pa Adedayo passed on Saturday  26th  March 2022 at 77yrs.

The glowing tributes are coming from his colleagues in Radio Nigeria, most of whom he trained while in active service.

Below are the tributes to the late septuagenarian. 
“Pa Adedayo was a jolly good fellow, he was one of those who launched me into journalism. An editor per excellence through whom I learned a lot during my growing up years on the job. My knowledge of how to handle “Editorial Review” in Newspaper was acquired from this ever- smiling boss turned father. With him the Newsroom and Journalism profession are delightful. Pa Adedayo was one of my strongest backers during my unionism days particularly when I contested as secretary FRCN chapel, secretary Oyo council and chairman Oyo council which I lost. He always monitored my progress and was ever happy to hear of my successes and achievements on the job. Pa Adedayo would always ask of me and pray for me.  He used to describe me as “S•T• soap. Ose, ti kii tani lowo, ti kii tani labe. He was fond of me. Pa Adedayo believed in me so much that I also loved him passionately in return. I always asked of his health each time we spoke, I was always happy whenever he sounded well

It was a rousing welcome for the Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN Ibadan, Mrs Bolatito Joseph as she paid a working visit to Radio Nigeria Positive FM Akure on Tuesday. 

Mrs Joseph was received with pomp and pageantry at the station by members of staff with cultural display.

In her speech, the General Manager of Positive FM, Mrs Olubunmi Olalere described Mrs Joseph as an achiever and a goal-getter poised to take the zone to greater heights. 

Responding, the Zonal Director, Mrs Joseph thanked the staff for the honour done to her, promising to continue to implement policies that would impact positively on the staff. 

Mrs Joseph also thanked the heads of various departments in the station for cooperating with the station’s new general manager, Mrs Olalere in delivering quality broadcast services to the people of Ondo State. 

The Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mrs Bolatito Joseph had also on Tuesday, received an award of excellence,from a private media organization in Ibadan for her immense contributions to the development of broadcasting over the years.

Since her assumption office as the as the Zonal Director in December, 2022, she has been embarking on various transformational programmes in the corporation.

The National Broadcasting Commission NBC, wants broadcast stations to always operate in line with broadcasting codes before making public their content. 

NBC Coordinator in Ondo State, Mr Sunkanmi Adewale stated this while receiving the new General Manager, Positive FM, Mrs Olubunmi Olalere and some management staff in his office in Akure. 

Mr Adewale described Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN as a modest broadcast station that had been following due process in dishing out credible content in the areas of programmes and news.

While promising that NBC would continue with its robust relationship with Positive FM, Akure, the NBC boss called on broadcast organisations in Ondo state to carry out their operations diligently and in conformity with NBC codes 

 Earlier the General Manager, Positive F.M, Akure, Mrs Olubunmi Olalere had described NBC as an important entity in the media industry and lauded them for actively regulating broadcast content for a more united nation.

Mrs Olalere solicited a better relationship between the commission and positive FM Akure, urging it to continue organising periodic meetings and workshops for media organisations for excellent broadcasting

The Management of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Positive FM has resolved to collaborate with the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA Akure to boost the operations of the two broadcast outfits for excellent performance.

The new general manager, positive FM, Mrs Olubunmi Olalere stated this when she led other management staff on a courtesy visit to the management of NTA Akure.

Mrs Olalere expressed satisfaction with the peaceful coexistence between the two federal government organisations and called for sustenance of such mutual relationship.

She said the courtesy visit was to familiarize with the management of NTA and to officially introduce herself as the new GM of positive FM Akure.

In a remark, the General Manager, NTA Akure, Mrs Olubunmi Oke welcomed Mrs Olalere to Akure promising a better working relationship.

Mrs Oke however urged the state government to support the two media stations to perform optimally.

Radio Nigeria has again been urged not to derail from the path of professionalism for which it has been known since its establishment.

The chairman, Radio Nigeria Positive fm Fans club popularly called “radio family”, Reverend John Olowo stated this when he led executive members of the fans club on a courtesy visit to the new General Manager of the station, Mrs Olubunmi Olalere.

Reverend Olowo said Positive FM Akure had endeared itself to people with unbiased news and quality programmes which had impacted positively on the society.

The radio family coordinator, Mr Olu bright had earlier said the exco members were at the station to pledge their support to the new general, urging her to builld on the success of the broadcast outfit.

Responding,  Positve fm general manager, Mrs Olubunmi Olalere who appreciated members of the radio family for their loyalty and commitment always promised that the station would continue to serve the society without bias.

Mrs Olalere sought the support of the fans club for the station’s forthcoming 20th anniversary for a successful outing.

Special prayers were offered for the station and the Radio Nigeria family during the visit.

In his valedictory speech, the outgoing general manager, Mr Abiodun appreciated members of management and staff for the unalloyed support during his three-years plus as the general manager of the station.

in her welcome address the new general manager, Mrs Olubunmi Olalere appreciated members of staff and solicited their supports for her administration.

Mrs Olalere who described the outgoing general manager as disciplinarian and professional to the core, pledged to build on the legacy of her predecessor.


Some members of staff who spoke appreciated the leadership styles of Mr Abiodun and prayed for the incoming general manager, Mrs Olalere to also achieve huge success.

Highlight of the programme was presentation of a picture frame to the outgoing general manager by members of staff.

Radio Nigeria Positive F.M Akure today joined the list organizations whose staff have been fortified against covid-19 with the administration of vaccine by health officials from the Ondo state primary healthcare development agency.

The health workers arrived the broadcasting house along Ondo road as early as ten o’clock in the morning and promptly attended to the waiting staff.

The workers who took their jab one after the other appreciated the federal government for making the vaccine available to ensure that citizens were adequately protected against the deadly virus.

Two of them, Mrs Busola Oladimeji and Mr. Olorunferanmi Odofin also commended the management of positive F.M for facilitating the vaccination which they noted would safe guard their health.

The General Manager, Mr. Tunde Abiodun said Radio Nigeria was an organization passionate about the well being of its staff hence the invitation of the covid-19 vaccination team to the broadcasting house.

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu says Radio Nigeria broadcasts have always put it on a pedestal envied by other radio stations in the country.

The governor spoke in Akure when he received the best three students in the essay competition marking the nineteenth anniversary of Radio Nigeria Positive FM.

The presentation of the essay winners to the governor was also part of the station’s celebration of children day 2021

Governor Akeredolu described Radio Nigeria as not only balanced in its reportage but also innovative.

The governor who expressed delight in the programs of Radio Nigeria FM Akure asked the management to sustain the tempo and also encouraged the essay winners to remain focused with a promise to assist them academically.

Earlier, the General Manager Positive FM, Mr Abiodun told the governor that essays topics were on, “the Ondo State of my dream,” and “if I meet governor Akeredolu today, what will I tell him?”

In the essay competition, Damilola Akadiri of St Louis Grammar school came first with Victor Akinniyi of Comfort Tenderfeet College coming second and Emmanuel Oluwapomile from St Thomas Aquinas College emerged third

Residents of Ayede-Ogbese in Ondo State have pledged the donation of one hundred and twenty hectares of land for the construction of international market in the town

It was another moment of joy for both audience and members of staff as Radio Nigeria Positive FM, Akure took its nineteenth anniversary to Ayede-Ogbese in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State

In the carnival like reception, Princess Akinyede said the town decided to host positive FM following the unbiased reportage and other special programmes of the FM station

Princess Akinyede, who implored Radio Nigeria to site a satellite office in the community, also urged the state government to fulfill its electoral promises of establishing an international market and agro-allied industries to boost socio-economic activities of the area, saying enough land had been earmarked for the projects

The general manager of Positive FM, Mr Tunde Abiodun who could not hide his joy, said choosing the community was part of the station’s interest in grassroots development

Mr Abiodun, who recognized the supports he hitherto received from the audience, promised that Positive FM would continue to impact positively on the society based on the vision and mission of Radio Nigeria

The anniversary chairman and head of the station’s ICT Unit, Mr Lanre Oluwateru, expressed joy that Positive FM had gone beyond being transient, adding that the week-long event would end on Sunday with a thanksgiving at the Faith Empire Church in Akure

Other members of staff including the managers of various departments appreciated God for seeing them through in all ramifications

Encomiums have continued to pour in for Radio Nigeria Positive FM, Akure on the occasion of its 18th anniversary.

The station which came with a bang was one of the 32 FM stations project established in the country by the Federal government.

Located on a hill in the capital city of Ondo state, Akure, Radio Nigeria Positive FM came on air on the frequency modulation 102.5, after being inaugurated by former President OlusegunObasanjo on 20th of April, 2002.

Though a federal government owned medium, the station has rather remained committed to serving all, uplifting the people and uniting the nation.

The pioneer General Manager was Alhaji Kola Animasaun with four others staff, while the then Executive Director of FRCN Ibadan was Princess BankeAdemola. 

In his contributions on the programme, the pioneer General Manager, Alhaji Kola Animasaun appreciated God for bringing the station thus far stating that the beginning was rough, but progress was achieved through hard work and dedication. 

AlhajiAnimasaun appreciated the people of Ondo state for receiving the station with warm hands at inception. 

The pioneer general manager urged staff of the organization to continue to be dedicated and professional just as he called on traditional, religious leaders, clients, fans and all stakeholders not to relent in giving support to the station. 

Also Speaking, the Zonal Director, Ibadan National Station, Alhaji Mohammed Bello, appreciated listeners and workers of the station for their dedication to duty. 

He promised to look into some of the challenges the station was facing like obsolate equipment and staff welfare. 

Alhaji Bello added that the station would not relent in bridging the gap between the people and government with unbiased news and programming. 

In a response, General Manager, Positive FM Akure, MrTundeAbiodun, appreciated the anniversary messages saying, it reflected the love for the station.

In an interview a business woman,MrsDorcasAjayi said the rich and up to date early morning news on positive FM was something she always looked forward to.

An artisan and a school teacher,Mr Tope Oluwole and TolulopeOlatunji also commended the consistency in programs that cut across all classes and professions.

An online listener from Lagos,MrsOpeAjibowu said the audio streaming of the station had further expanded its reach.

The Monarch of Oka, Oba AdeboriAdeleye, an ardent listener commended the display of professionalism, while Oba Samuel Agunloye of AugaAkoko hailed the station for spreading its tentacles to the grassroots giving the rural dwellers a voice.

Others who praised the station for living up to expectation over the years however appealed for more funding for all government owned media establishments to meet up with digital broadcasting in line with global best practices.

The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, UNICEF, in partnership with Ondo State Ministry of Information And Orientation held a one-day review meeting with Stakeholders on UNICEF’s radio programme entitled, “Facts for Life”.

Our correspondent reports that the event held in Ibadan x-rayed issues affecting women and the girl child as constantly been discussed on air.

The communication for Development Specialist for UNICEF in Akure field office, Mrs Caroline Akosile said the radio programme both in English and Yoruba have been able to reach the desired audience hence the need to review its content.

The Director, Orientation and Mobilization Ministry of Information Ondo State, Mr Bodunde Aladejimokun noted that the aim of the programme was to eradicate mortality and communicable diseases in the society.

Some of the participants, General Manger Voice F.M Akure, Mr. Donald Falaye, General Manger Positive F.M Akure, Mr. Tunde Abiodun and Director General Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, Mrs. Adejumoke Akinjinola said they have benefited a lot from their partnership with UNICEF.

The participants said they have been able to fashion out ways to reach out to more audience through the review meeting
