A few hours before the governorship and State Assembly elections, gunmen allegedly attacked the ancestral home of Senator Teslim Folarin in Oja’gbo, Ibadan South-East Local Government Area of Oyo State.
They were said to have invaded the Oyo APC governorship candidate’s Family house a few minutes past 8:00 pm on Thursday.
According to reports from witnesses, the unknown gunmen in about 10 Toyota Hilux with covered plates invaded the Oja’gbo family house of Senator Folarin a few minutes past 8:00 pm on Thursday night.
“We escaped death by whiskers but several of us sustained varying degrees of injuries as we scampered for safety. The gunmen were wearing black dresses with face masks. They were shouting ‘Where is Folarin, Iku Lokan E (It is your turn to die) while shooting sporadically. They burgled Oja’gbo the house, in search of Oloye”.
“They dispersed hundreds of us who were waiting for Senator Folarin with gunshots. God saved our lives” said a survivor.
Senator Folarin’s media aide, YSO Olaniyi confirmed the attack to a Radio Nigeria correspondent via a telephone conversation saying “At about 8:10 pm on Thursday night, March 16th, a group of gunmen numbering about 30 driving in a motorcade of 10 vehicles, stormed the ancestral home of Senator Teslim Folarin with a mission to terminate his life”
“They thought Oloye Folarin would be there at that particular time to carry out the assassination. Senator Folarin was billed to have a family meeting with his kinsmen at his Oja’gbo home last night but could not make it due to extended interactive session with Oyo State stakeholders at YES FM Media House”
“You know Oloye Folarin is Mogaji of his family compound, Ile Baale in Oja’gbo area of Ibadan and Asaaju Olubadan of Ibadanland. He had a scheduled meeting with his family members at Oja’gbo but could not make it. The unknown gunmen thought Oloye would be at the meeting to carry out the assassination plan but thank God for his life”
“We have informed the security agencies to investigate the incident, promptly apprehend the sponsors and their agents and bring them to justice,” he said.
Olaniyi who expressed concern about the safety of his principal urged the police and the DSS to beef up security around the APC governorship candidate.
It would be recalled that the councillor representing Ward 10, Ibadan South East Local Government Area in Oyo State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Sulaimon Ariyibi and two others were shot dead yesterday by some suspected political hoodlums.
The Oyo State Coordinator for Tinubu-Shettima Campaign Council and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, Senator Teslim Folarin has expressed his profound gratitude to electorates in the state for casting their ballots for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, Dr. Yunus Akintunde, Barrister Sharafadeen Alli and other elected house of representatives members on the platform of the progressive party.
Senator Abdulfatai Buhari of APC who polled 90,078 votes was returned elected to represent Oyo North Senatorial District. Folarin’s successor, Dr. Yunus Akintunde of APC scored 108,776 votes and was returned elected to represent Oyo Central Senatorial District. Former Secretary to Oyo State Government, Barr. Sharafadeen Ali of APC who polled 111,513 votes was returned elected to represent Oyo South Senatorial District.

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, his wife Tamunominini have voted at Ward 11, polling unit one, Abayomi area in Ibadan North East LGA, at exactly 10:10 am.
In an interview with newsmen, Governor Makinde expressed satisfaction with the electoral process so far.
The Governor implored all the electorate to be patient with those in charge of the exercise while charging them to carry out their civic responsibility.
Similarly, Oyo state APC governorship candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin has cast his vote at exactly fifteen minutes past eleven o’clock in the morning.

The 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progress Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator Teslim Folarin has hailed the judgment of the Election Petition Tribunal, affirming Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola as the valid winner of the 2022 governorship elections in Osun State.
The Election Petition Tribunal chaired by Justice Tertse Kume, on Friday, sacked Osun Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke. The majority judgment of two judges against one ordered that the Certificate of Return should be withdrawn from Adeleke and issued to Adegboyega Oyetola.
The tribunal sacked Adeleke for over-voting in some polling units across the State.
“Having deducted the over-voting figure, Oyetola scored 314,921 while Ademola gathered 290,266?” the judge said.
The three-term lawmaker in his reaction to the judgment through his media aide, Com. YSO Olaniyi, described the Tribunal judgment as a victory for justice, calling on all Osun APC members, supporters, and indeed the people of Osun State, to remain peaceful, and not react in the face of any provocation.
“The judgment is a triumph of truth and justice. Expectedly, the judiciary has lived up to expectation as the bastion of democracy and rule of law”.
“God’s Will and the mandate of the good people of Osun have finally been upheld by the Elections Tribunal. Therefore, I congratulate His Excellency Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, the APC family and the good people of Osun over the ruling” Folarin concluded.
The Accord gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State Chief Adebayo Adelabu has said that he has not joined any coalition with any Governorship Candidate or stepped down from the contest.
Chief Adelabu urged residents in the state to disregard the rumour making the rounds that he had stepped down for APC Governorship Candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin in a coalition to win the 2023 election in Oyo State
According to a statement by the Director-General, Accord Campaign council in Oyo State, Chief Adegboyega Adegoke, which stated that Chief Adelabu was fully into the contest noted that the former Central Bank Deputy Governor was well embraced in his campaign throughout the length and breadth of the pace setter state
It alleged that the fraudulent tactics used during the APC primaries led the defection of aggrieved members into the Accord to support Chief Adebayo Adelabu’s Governorship ambition.
“We want to bring it to the notice of the good people of Oyo State that there was no time Chief Adebayo Adelabu held any meetings with Senator Folarin on Coalition.
Chief Adebayo Adelabu is contesting to win the governship election in Oyo State under Accord. Chief Adelabu is a known technocrat, corporate guru and a business turnaround expert who has excelled in both private and the public sectors. All his businesses are domiciled in Oyo State.”
The All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Teslim Folarin has called on the Yoruba race to unite and work for the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as president in next year’s general elections.
Senator Folarin made the call at the party’s Zonal rally held at Alakia, Egbeda Local Government area of Ibadan.
The Oyo State APC governorship candidate said the presidential candidate of APC was the most experienced of all those vying for the office, noting that Nigeria would witness meaningful development if Asiwaju Tinubu becomes the number one citizen.
He maintained that the Yoruba race must put aside all differences and unite for one of its sons.
Senator Folarin also urged the people to ensure that they voted for all the candidates of the party to guarantee all-round good governance.
In an interview with Radio Nigeria, the APC Deputy Governorship candidate in the state, Dr David Okunlola boasted that Oyo APC would deliver 98% votes for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Similarly, the Oyo State Chairman of the APC, Mr Isaac Omodewu expressed optimism that Senator Teslim Folarin would become governor of Oyo State in 2023.
Youths of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State have organized a rally in support of the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Alhaji Kasheem Shettima.
Clad in T-shirts and face caps in the colour and logo of the party, while holding the party’s flags, and chanting solidarity songs, the youths, in their numbers marched from the party’s state secretariat in the Ososami-Oke Ado axis of Ibadan, through Dugbe, before returning to the secretariat.
The convener of the rally, who is also the party’s candidate for the Ibadan Northeast/Southeast Federal constituency, Mr Dapo Lam Adesina said the rally was just to create awareness ahead of campaigns scheduled to commence later this month.
Speaking with Radio Nigeria, the Youth leader in Oyo State, Mr Oyetunji Aremu explained that the rally was also aimed at mobilizing the youths in the party to support the candidacy of Asiwaju BolaTinubu.
In a remark, the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Senator Teslim Folarin said with the support of the youths, Oyo APC would deliver the state for Asiwaju Tinubu and other candidates of the party.
Similarly, the party’s National Vice Chairman, Southwest, Mr Isaac Kekemeke gave an assurance that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu would get 90% votes from the Southwest region, come 2023.
The 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the lawmaker representing Oyo Central senatorial district, Senator Teslim Folarin has described the demise of Oba (Dr.) Abdulganiy Salawudeen Adekunle Oloogunebi (Ajinese 1), Aseyin of Iseyin as another great loss to the Yorubaland.
This is contained in a condolence statement personally signed by the three-term senator and made available to journalists in Abuja on Sunday night.
The statement reads:
“I received the news of His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Abdulganiy Salawudeen Adekunle Oloogunebi’s death with rude shock but with total submission to the will of Almighty Allah”.
“The late Ajinese 1 was a great father to many of us. On many occasions, he invited me to his palace for father-to-son discussions and also on issues bothering on the development of Oke-Ogun zone and Oyo State”.
“As Chairman, Baba Aseyin provided qualitative leadership to the Conference of Oke-Ogun Obas and Chiefs. He was extremely passionate about the development of Oke-Oke-Ogun, Oyo State and Yorubaland”.
“The first-class monarch’s death is another great loss to the Yorubaland. The late Ajinese’s indelible fatherly roles in Oke-Ogun and Oyo State would be solely missed”.

As Muslim Ummah in Oyo State joins other Muslims worldwide to celebrate Eid Al-Adha, the 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Teslim Folarin has assured people of the state of a better future.

Sallah: Aare Akogun Urges Tolerance, Religious Harmony
Muslims in Oyo State and Nigeria have been urged to imbibe the spirit of tolerance and religious harmony as the country marks the Eid el Kabir festival.
This call was made by Honourable Abiola- Ajimobi on Friday in the Eid el Kabir message issued by Lateef Alade his media aide, to Muslim faithful in Oyo state and across Nigeria.
He urged the faithful to reflect on the essence of the festival, which he described as the time for renewal of our obedience and commitment to peace.
The Aare Akogun Musulumi who’s currently on Holy pilgrimage said the Eid-el-Kabir festival signifies an opportunity for Muslims to reflect on the faith, with which Ibrahim (Abraham) willingly agreed to sacrifice his only son and let go of his prized asset, just in obedience to the command of Allah (SWT), he said.
He implored the Muslim faithful to lay aside all forms of religious, ethnic and tribal sentiments, “in the interest of unity, peace, progress and prosperity of the state and country.”
The Aare Akogun Musulumi also urged Nigerians to fervently pray for the prosperity of the state and the nation and eschew acts capable of denying them the blessings of Allah (SWT).

Osun Speaker Calls for Prayers ahead of Elections
The Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Mr Timothy Owoeye Wants Residents to intensify prayers for the peace and stability of the State and Nation for the upcoming Governorship as well as the 2023 General Elections.
Mr Owoeye in a Sallah message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Kunle Alabi said the call became imperative to attain the desired Sustainable Socio-Economic growth.
The Speaker, while congratulating the Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, said Nigerians should strive to create an atmosphere of peace and sustain harmonious co-existence.

“People of Osun and Nigerians should desist from all acts capable of breaching the peace of the state and country, as the State and country gear up toward elections in 2022 and 2023.

“We must ensure that we eschew all forms of violence before, during, and after the elections, Osun people and Nigerians should vote for the candidate of their choice without intimidation”.

In the same vain, Oyo state council of Radio, Television, Theater and Arts workers’ union, RATTAWU, has felicitated with Muslim faithful on this year’s Eid El Kabir celebration.
In a statement signed by the state secretary of the union, Mr Kehinde Olayade, RATTAWU urged Muslims to embrace the virtues of love and sacrifice during this period and beyond.
The union also prayed to Allah to spare the lives of the faithful to witness more Eid El Kabir celebrations.
The 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and lawmaker representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Senator Teslim Folarin has strongly condemned the attack on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s convoy by hoodlums.
Reports say the bus conveying the press crew of Lagos State Governor’s Office on Sunday was attacked by hoodlums between Ebute-Ero and Adeniji, Iga-Iduganran axis on Lagos Island, leaving no fewer than two journalists wounded.
The press crew bus joined other vehicles conveying dignitaries, including 2023 APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Kano State, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje; and others, who had just left the palace of Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwanu Akiolu.
Senator Folarin, in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday evening, described the attack as politically-motivated.
“The attack on the press crew of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s convoy is utterly condemnable. It’s a politically motivated and criminal act.”
“I urge the law enforcement agencies to fish out the perpetrators and bring them to book as it will serve as a deterrent to others”. Senator Folarin.
The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has paid homage to the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun at his Alarere palace.
Addressing the Monarch, Professor Osinbajo said he embarked on the visit to the monarch to intimate him about his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election.
In his response, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Mohood Balogun gave his royal blessings to the ambition of the vice president.
In an interview, the Oyo State APC chairman, Mr Isaac Omodewu, said after the coronation of the Olubadan, the Vice President considered it needful to meet the Olubadan before addressing APC delegates at the civic centre.
At the civic centre, APC delegates stormed the venue of to honour the vice president.
Addressing the delegates, senator Teslim Folarin said Oyo State remained the cradle of politics in Nigeria.

A former Commissioner for Health in Oyo State, Dr Azeez Adeduntan has commiserated with the senator representing Oyo Central, Teslim Folarin over the death of his wife, Angela.
In a condolence message in Ibadan, Dr Adeduntan expressed shock over the death of Barrister Angela Folarin.
The International cardiovascular surgeon described the death of Barrister Angela as an irreparable loss to the Folarins, her own family as well as Ibadanland.
“I was shocked and saddened to hear about the tragic loss of your darling wife and can’t just express those sad feelings currently within me now”.
“My heart aches for you as a loving husband; the children of the deceased and the entire family she left behind”.
“I convey my deep condolences to you, your children and families.”
The Osi Basorun of Ibadanland noted that the contribution of Late Angela to the uplift of the downtrodden masses would be remembered forever.
The Oyo State governorship hopeful prayed to God to rest the soul of the deceased in peace and give strength to Senator Folarin to overcome this painful loss.
Angela Nwaka Folarin, the wife of Oyo Central Senator, Teslim Folarin, is dead.
Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Senator, YSO Olaniyi, confirmed the death in a statement on Friday.
The statement read, “With total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, we announce the death of our wife, mother and sister, Chief (Barr.) Angela Nwaka Folarin.
“The wife of Oyo Central Senator was confirmed dead on Friday afternoon. She breathed her last in the UK.”
“The deceased was hale and hearty until the angel of death knocked on the door.”
“May Almighty God Comfort us and Grant Late Angela an eternal rest.”
The wife of late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, Dr Florence Ajimobi has restated commitment to sustaining the passion of her husband for peace and good governance.
Dr. Ajimobi stated this after her investiture with highest honour as Fellow of the Society for Peace and Practice, SPSP, University of Ibadan as part of activities for One Year Memorial events for Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
She expressed appreciation to the SPSP for institutionalizing relationship between the University and Ajimobi family.
The event held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan had in attendance progressive politicians including the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Governors Umar Ganduje of Kano State and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Minister of Interior, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola and Minister of Sports, Mr. Sunday Dare, Senators Fatai Buhari and Teslim Folarin as well as members of House of Representatives, members of House of Assembly among other notable politicians.

Kano State governor, Dr Umar Ganduje remarked that Senator Ajimobi was a detribalized and true nationalist who would be remembered for his good works.
Minister of Interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola described late Senator Ajimobi as a core loyalist and confidant that he missed.
Some loyalists of Senator Representing Oyo Central senatorial district, Teslim Folarin have recovered some items carted away by some people from the Oluyole Estate residence of the senator in Ibadan.
People had this morning embarked on a looting spree at Senator Folarin’s house, carting away some motorcycles and generators meant for empowerment programme.
However, due to the timely intervention of officers of the combined security operative’s tagged “Operation Burst”, the loyalists who were earlier overpowered by the attackers were able to recover some motorcycles and generators kept in a nearby bush.
Radio Nigeria correspondent reports that a tricycle brought by one of the attackers to convey some of the looted items was impounded by the loyalists of Senator Folarin, while cartons of the carted away generators littered the main road.

Reacting to the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the Oyo state police command, Mr Gbenga Fadeyi said the situation had been brought under control.
