Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has paid a congratulatory visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja at his Bodija residence, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Alhaji Abubakar was in company of Former Governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El Rufai, former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, Former Senate President, Senator Iyorchia Ayu and others.

Former President Abubakar said, the coronation of Oba Ladoja was historic, praying that Ibadan would experience peace and development during the reign of the monarch.

Alhaji Abubakar later handed over a letter of “Congratulations” to the Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Responding, The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja appreciated the visit and gave assurance that he would use his reign and the rest of his life to serve Ibadan people, Oyo State, Yorubaland and Nigeria at large.

Oba Ladoja restated his promise to make everybody proud of him as the Olubadan of the ancient city, by ensuring fairness and justice for all.

Following the Olubadan-Designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin’s worship last Sunday at the Cathedral of St Peters Aremo, Ibadan, Oyo State, Clergymen from the Anglican Church have visited him at his Alalubosa residence to pay homage to the Nominated-Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The Clerics were led by the Bishop of Ibadan Diocese, Anglican Communion, The Most Reverend Joseph Akinfenwa, who disclosed that the visit was to pay homage to one of their own and a strong supporter of the Anglican community who has been nominated as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland by Ibadan Kingmakers and to pray for a peaceful and successful reign of the monarch.

Speaking, Anglican Chancellor, Ibadan North, said, the clerics and the Anglican community were excited to see the Olubadan-Designate in Church last Sunday which made the Church to give them the impetus to also visit Oba Olakulehin.

On his part, Bishop of Ibadan North Diocese, Rt Rev. Williams Aladekugbe prayed for the good health of the monarch and wisdom like that of King Solomon to direct the affairs of Ibadan and lead it to more prosperity, peace and development.

Responding on behalf of the Olubadan-Designate, Prince Olasunmbo Owolabi-Olakulehin thanked the Anglican Clerics and the Church for the visit, saying Oba Olakulehin initiated how he went to the Church on Sunday as he felt the need to offer his gratitude and thanksgiving to God for his nomination as the next Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Other Clerics on the entourage include, Rt Rev Akintunde Popoola, Bishop Ibadan South Diocese, Rtd Venerable Paul Alamu, Provost Kehinde Aremu of the Ibadan South Anglican Church, St David’s Cathedral and Provost Alade Ayinla of All Saints Anglican Church Apata

It would be recalled that, the Ibadan Kingmakers among the Olubadan-in Council have nominated Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, while the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde is expected to respond officially to the nomination as being forwarded to him for approval.

The National  leader of the All Progressives Congress APC Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has promised to turnaround the fortunes of Nigeria if elected as president in the 2023 elections.

The former Lagos state governor gave the assurance during his visit to traditional rulers in Ondo state in continuation of his consultation over his presidential ambition.

Asiwaju Tinubu met with the monarchs in Owo, Okitipupa and Akure representing the three Senatorial districts of the state.

He said his resolve to vie for the nation’s number one position was borne out of the need to transform the country economically urging the monarchs and the people of Ondo state to support his ambition.

Asiwaju Tinubu promised to give priority attention to Agricultural development, industrialization, Education and other sectors that would help the country and Ondo state in achieving their full potentials. 

While welcoming the former Lagos state governor on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Deji of Akure Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo, the Olugbo of Ugbo, Oba Fredrick Akinruntan and the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye acknowledged the impact of Asiwaju Tinubu in breeding leaders and transforming Lagos during his tenure expressing hope his leadership ability.

On the APC National leader’s entourage was the coordinator of Southwest Agenda For Tinubu, SWAGA, Senator Dayo Adeyeye and other prominent politicians in Ondo state and southwest in general.

Various social groups added colour to the event with their melodious political songs in welcoming Asiwaju Tinubu to Ondo state.

Members of the National Reconciliation Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have paid a courtesy visit to Osun state Governor, Alhaji Adegboyega oyetola as the committee arrives Osun to reconcile aggrieved members of the party.

Speaking at the government house, osogbo, venue of the visit ,chairman of the Committee, a former Governor of Nasarawa State, Sen. Abdulahi Adamu, disclosed the committee’s readiness to ensure fair hearing, equity and justice.

He said members of the party had come to attend to palpable contentious matters, treat petitions and elicit responses after which their report would be made in line with the directive of the authority of the party at the national level.

” We want to thank Mr. Governor for personally being available to receive us. We are the committee appointed and inaugurated sometimes in November last year to serve as members of the reconciliatory committee on issues that border on relationship and institutional matters.

“We have done much on the northern states and we started that of Southwest on Thursday in Lagos. Yesterday, we were in Ogun State, and today, we are in Osogbo, the Osun State capital city.

While responding, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola assured the Committee of his Administration’s absolute cooperation and support to carry out the exercise.

He expressed confidence in the composition and ability of the members of the Committee to dispense justice and ensure fair play throughout the exercise.

“I appreciate this visit and I thank you most sincerely for taking the trouble to come to us. No organization without issues, but what is important is to find possible way of reconciliation.

“We will give you all the support, you will have the maximum cooperation expected of us. I welcome the idea of accepting petitions and finding solutions to all contentious issues.

It would be recalled that there are factions within members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.

While a group is loyal to the incumbent Governor, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola , the other group called The Osun Progressive, TOP, is loyal to the immediate past governor of the state who is now the minister of interior, Alhaji Rauf Aregbesola.

Oyo State Governor,Engineer Seyi Makinde has visited the Agodi axis of Ibadan, where a petrol-laden tanker exploded late on Thursday 18th November 2021.

Governor Makinde while inspecting the scene told security agents to restore normalcy to the area within 24 hours.

The incident had led the Oyo State Road Transport Management Agency (OYRTMA) to issue a traffic advisory to motorists plying the axis.

Governor Makinde expressed shock and sadness over the incident adding that the agency in charge of traffic control in the state should, as a matter of urgency, return normalcy and ensure free vehicular movement.

In a remark,the Commissioner for  Energy, Seun Ashamu stated that his ministry would ensure speedy repairs of the damaged electric poles.

Also speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of OYRTMA, Dr Akin Fagbemi, represented by the General Manager of the Agency, Mr Adeoye Ayoade, stated that officers of the agency have been deployed to facilitate free flow of traffic.

The Special Committee put in place to work on the establishment of the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology LAUTECH, has visited the permanent site of the institution at Ipokun area, Iseyin local government on Wednesday.
The visit was on the directive of the State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde that activities should start at the Iseyin campus of the institution by September 2021.
The committee was led by the Secretary of the LAUTECH Governing Council, Mr. Idowu Adeosun, who represented the Council Chairman, Professor Ayodeji Omole, while on the entourage was a member of the Council, Mrs Titilayo Ahmadu, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Mojeed Liasu, Chairman Committee on Establishment of the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Professor Adewale Emiola and some management members of the institution.
While speaking with journalists, the representative of the Chairman, LAUTECH Governing Council, Mr Idowu Adeosun said the visit was in accordance with the directive of the State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, that the committee must put all hands on deck to make the September 2021 take off target a reality.
He appreciated the warm reception the visitors were accorded upon their arrival by the people of Iseyin, which he said was indicative of the readiness of the community to host the institution.
“We are happy that Iseyin community is ready for this project, it was shown in the way they welcomed us upon our arrival and the enthusiasm shown in their preparations for the campus.
“The governor has charged the committee to visit and set machineries in motion towards the commencement of activities of the institution in Iseyin by September and that is why we are here today.”
The entourage was taken round facilities that could accommodate the campus, pending the construction of the permanent site at Ipokun area, as they visited Iseyin District Grammar School IDGS and the Old Teachers’ College campus along Okeho road.
The Chairman, Committee on Establishment of LAUTECH College of Agriculture and Renewable Natural Resources, Prof. Adewale Emiola said the committee was happy to have facilities to start work with and urged sons and daughters of the community to rally round the project by donating structures to the permanent site of the campus.
He charged the community to show further interest in the project, as put forward by the State government, by acquiring more land for the campus, saying that the support from people of means in the community would fast-track commencement of academic activities at the permanent site.
“We will need a 750 capacity lecture hall and smaller ones as well, we will need lecture rooms, offices, administrative buildings and other facilities, encourage your sons and daughters who have the means to come home and do this for the campus, they will be giving back to the community for its growth.
“Let government know you are interested, you have shown so much causes to indicate this, but more is still needed to make the permanent site functional in no time.”
The Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Dr Abdulganiy Salawudeen Adekunle Oloogunebi Ajinese 1 who prayed for the visitors through the Ikolaba of Iseyin, Chief Ismail Tikalosoro, called on the people of the community to continue to give their support to the present administration in Oyo State so as to enjoy more dividends of democracy.
The Chairman, Iseyin Development Union IDU, Alhaji Bayo Raji said the land that has been acquired for the permanent site was 345 acres from the Eruuku and Alesinloye families, and assured the visitors that further acquisition would be done towards the Ikere dam, which will serve the institution agricultural purposes in irrigation, fishery and other endeavors.
He saluted the State governor’s resolve to develop every part of the State to become the envy of other States in the federation, specifically mentioning the just-commissioned Moniya-Iseyin road, the approved Iseyin-Ogbomoso road and the recently approved Iseyin-Oyo road as pointers to betters things that would contribute to the socio-economic growth of Oyo State.
He further hinted that construction of roads that lead to Oke-Ogun, which is widely adjudged as the food basket of the South-Western Nigeria has affirmed the incumbent government’s claim on using agriculture to sustain the growth of the State.
The permanent site of the LAUTECH Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources is about seven kilometers from Atoori area in Iseyin and three kilometers to Idi-Oori along Oyo-Iseyin road, while the famous Ikere George Dam is less than ten kilometers to the campus, while it has villages like Bangbala, Daleko, Aaba, Alesinloye and Gbokoyi adjourning the road that lead to the campus.
Leading the entourage of the community to take the visitors round the facilities was the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Dr. Abdulganiy Salawudeen Adekunle Oloogunebi Ajinese 1, who was represented by the Ikolaba of Iseyin, High Chief Ismail Tikalososro and members of the traditional council, the Chairman, Iseyin local government, Mr Mufutau Abilawon, the Chairman, Iseyin Development Union, Alhaji Bayo Raji, the Chairman, Iseyin ad-hoc committee on the establishment of LAUTECH Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources in Iseyin, Chief Adeniyi Falade, Professor Lamidi Ojedapo among others.
