The Ondo State Governor, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu says no going back on Southwest Security Network, codenamed “Operation Amotekun”.

Governor Akeredolu stated this at the opening of public hearing on the law to establish the state security network and Amotekun corps organised by the Ondo State House of Assembly.

The governor noted that the public hearing was meant to take stakeholders’ contributions towards a formidable security network in the state and the southwest.

The Speaker, Mr. Bamidele Oleyelogun commended the turnout by stakeholders and urged to make contributions that would assist the lawmakers at reaching a fundamental law that could withstand the test of time.

On his part, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the state, Mr. Kola Olawoye stated that the enshrinement of the law has reached an advanced stage with the public hearing.

Radio Nigeria correspondent reports that traditional institutions, Afenifere, political groups, the NUJ and other groups submitted memorandums at the hearing.

High-point of the opening was the presentation of a drama sketch depicting the level of insecurity in the country.
