Society for Family Physicians, Ibadan Zone wants government at all levels to equip family doctors to protect them from coronavirus pandemic.

Chairman, Society for Physicians Ibadan Zone, Dr. Adeolu Adetoki stated this while addressing newsmen on this year’s World Doctors’ Day celebration.

Dr. Adetoki observed that family doctors are more prone to coronavirus than those who were treating patients, saying most of the time they treated another ailment in patients before they would discover that such patient needed Covid-19 treatment.

He appealed to the government to provide adequate protection and compensations to doctors and other health workers who are not at the Covid-19 treatment centres.

A member of the society, Dr. Olaide Oladipupo, advised governments  to separate isolation center and treatment center to reduce to number of covid19 cases in the country. 

General Secretary of the society, Dr. Foluke Olaniyi-George, who admitted that the Covid-19 pandemic had denied people of adequate access to health care service, said the members of the society had employed electronic means of treating patients to reduce their exposure to the diseases.
