The Federal Government has been urged to take advantage of the use of digital technology to enhance teaching and learning during this period of COVID-19 pandemic.

A professor of Epidemiology and Disease Control and the out-going Vice-Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University Ilorin, Professor Taofeek Ibrahim made the call while featuring on a Correspondent chapter of NUJ Programme in Ilorin.

According to him with the rise in the number of people affected by COVID-19 it will not be safe to reopen schools in the country.

Professor Ibrahim urged government to follow the trend and adopt the use of digital technology to teach students while staying at the comfort of their rooms.

The University don urged Nigerians to be patient with the situation and support the government effort to flatten the curves of the pandemic.

He also appealed to parents to encourage their children to use the opportunity of this break to read their books while staying safe.
