After many years, Oyo State will experience a trade fair to raise the bar of commerce in the state.

President, Ibadan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ICCI, Sir Sola Abodunrin gave the assurance while paying a courtesy visit to the management of FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station.

Sir Abodunrin, while noting that the organization was established in 1960 as a nonprofit body with the aim of promoting and supporting trade, industry, commerce, mines and agriculture, expressed worry that due to certain challenges, the body had not maximized its potentials.

The ICCI president noted that as part of the determination of the body restore the lost glory of Ibadan in terms of commerce, the organization had put mechanism in place to stage a trade fair that would impact on the city, Oyo State and the Southwest.

Sir Abodunrin also regretted that many skilled artisans had abandoned their trade and now engaged in okada riding.

He solicited the support of Radio Nigeria in the promotion of activities and agenda of the organization.

On her part, the second deputy president of the chamber, Chief Omotomilola Osunde commended the effort Of Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration in Oyo State in priortizing the economy of the state.

Chief Osunde also called on residents of Oyo State to key into various poverty alleviation programmes of government at all levels through the chamber.

Reacting, the Zonal Director, FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Muhammed Bello, represented by the Deputy Director Markeeting, Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi said FRCN was already worried on the economy of Ibadan and pledged the readiness of the broadcasting corporation to partner the chamber on developmental drive.

The zonal director also used the occasion to call on the youths to engage in entrepreneurial endeavours instead of waiting on non-existent white collar jobs.
