The entire Stadium area in Ogbomoso was agog as hundreds of people walked shoulder to shoulder to gain entry to the maternity house.
The atmosphere at the maternity centre at that point was more of a picnic and donation centre rather than a health centre.
The newborns, four girls and one boy were kept in a room while the mother was in another room receiving treatment as prayers were said by the crowd.
Funmilayo Oluwadara, a petty farmer, mother of the five children, is yet to comprehend what has happened to her.
Concerned with how to take care of the children, Mrs Oluwadara explained that the family actually made preparations to recieve triplets in line with ultrasound results, saying taking care of five newborns was an enormous task for a family who was struggling to make ends meet.
The dazed husband, Idowu Oluwadara woke on the morning of 4th of March, 2021 a father of five but who suddenly became the father of ten pleaded with the government at all levels and other well meaning Nigerians to come to their aid in bringing up the children.
Medical Director of the maternity centre, Sikirula Afolabi said the birth was natural, saying after the delivery of the third born as presented by the ultrasound, he noticed that the procedure was not done and thereafter brought out the fourth child, a girl and the fifth who is a boy.
Some of the sympathise who spoke to Radio Nigeria appealed to the Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde and the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Hajia Umar Farouq to assist the family.
Radio Nigeria reports that the newborns have been exposed to an unhygienic atmosphere as people who trouped into the clinic had the opportunity to touch the babies.
