A 39 year old man, Oladapo Akinola has been arrested by men of Ogun state Police Command for defiling his 5 year old stepdaughter in Adigbe area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the incident in Abeokuta said the suspect was arrested after the mother of the victim reported the case at Adigbe divisional headquarters.
Mr Oyeyemi explained that the mother of the victim claimed that she discovered blood in her private part when she was having her bath.
The command’s Spokesman said the woman told the policemen that victim alleged that her stepfather had been having unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
Mr Oyeyemi who noted that the suspect had confessed to the crime without any justifiable reason said the victim had been taken to hospital for medical treatment and report.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to anti human trafficking and child labour unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
Mr Ajogun however advised parents, especially mothers to always be watchful of their female children to protect them from been victims of sexual assault
