Federal Government says its giant strides in the construction of good road networks across the country will improve commerce, facilitate growth and national development.

The Southwest Director of Highways, Federal Ministry of Works, Adedamola Kuti made this known while carrying out an on-the spot-assessment of the ongoing construction of the Ibadan-Ife-Ilesa road.

While inspecting the multi billion naira project, the Zonal Director of Highways, Federal Ministry of works said the road which links other parts of Southwest would boost economy within the region.

Mr Kuti appealed to the commuters plying the road to obey speed limit along Ibadan-Ife-Ilesha road 

The Project Manager of the company handling the project, Pascal Harfouch said the scope of work on the road is excellent

The 180km Ibadan-Ife-Ilesha dual carriage road was awarded by the Federal Government in 2020.

The construction of the project which was initially put on hold as a result of Covid 19 pandemic is now undergoing complete rehabilitation beginning from Iwo road end of Ibadan.

While also inspecting the 52 kilometres Oyo-Ogbomosho-Ilorin road, the Zonal Director of Highways in the south west said interaction between the North and South would now improve when the road finally become operational.

On his part, Oyo state Federal Controller of Works, Kayode Ibrahim said Oyo-Ogbomosho-Ilorin road when finally completed would reduce the time limit of commuters travelling within the axis
