The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC Oyo State has commiserated with the people of the ancient Oyo town, Oyo State traditional council, the Oyomesi and the immediate family of Adeyemi over the transition of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi Olayiwola III.
In a statement in Ibadan, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC in the state, Dr Mutiu Agboke states that the passing away of the monarch was a huge loss to the Commission, Oyo state and Yoruba race in general.
Dr Agboke maintained that the monarch would be greatly missed for his supportive roles and wise counsel.
The REC recalled that Oba Adeyemi had spearheaded various INEC activities, especially in terms of awareness and mobilization at the grassroots.
Dr Agboke prayed God to grant the family fortitude to bear the loss and repose to the soul of the deceased monarch.
