The pioneer chairperson of the Netball Federation of Oyo State, Ambassador (Alh) Romoke Ayinde says there will be the unveiling of a Netball tournament on Wednesday 18th October 2023.
Amb. Ayinde made this known during a news conference held at Kayrom Lee swimming pool side, Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke-Ado, Ibadan.
The chairperson of Oyo State Netball Federation noted that Netball as a sport had been abandoned in the country since 1973, hence the need to resuscitate it through the forthcoming tournament.
Amb. Ayinde also mentioned that the tournament which was certified by the Nigeria Netball Federation (NNF) will feature girls and ladies aged 11 years and above.
She, however, solicited financial support from the government, corporate organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to bring back the glory of Netball in the country.
Amb. Ayinde said the tournament will commence at 9 a.m. each day at the Netball court of Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke-Ado, and urged members of the public to troop en mass to the court for an exciting tournament.
