Sixteen Palace Chiefs of the Ooni of Ife have commended Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke for the remarkable developmental strides recorded under his administration.


‎They gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the Governor at the Government house, Okefia, Osogbo.

‎Speaking on behalf of the delegation, during the visit, the Obalufe of Ife, Oba Adediwura Idowu, the chiefs expressed deep satisfaction with the governor’s performance, declaring that Ile-Ife has never had it this good in terms of infrastructure and government presence.

‎They applauded Governor Adeleke for his people-centred leadership and visible achievements across the state, stressing that the people of Ile-Ife are proud of the governor’s accomplishments in the last three years and have collectively resolved to throw their full weight behind him by endorsing him for a second term


‎Also speaking, Baba Lowa Adimula described Governor Adeleke as a true son of the source, whose commitment to the ancient city is evident in the quality and scope of projects being executed.

‎Baba Lowa Adimula urged the governor to hasten work on the ongoing bridge project, the first of its kind in Ile Ife and ensure that the road is properly tarred and dualised all the way to the Ooni Palace, at Enuwa to further ease traffic movement and boost economic activities.


‎The Chiefs also used the opportunity to admonish the Federal Government over the continued withholding of local government funds, a situation they noted has prevented traditional rulers and other local government beneficiaries from receiving their entitlements for the past 11 months.

‎They called for an urgent resolution of the issue in the interest of grassroots governance and welfare.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has paid glowing tribute to members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, describing them as symbols of patriotism, courage and selfless service to the nation.

Speaking at the official launch of the emblem for the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Governor Adeleke praised the bravery and sacrifices of military personnel who have defended Nigeria’s sovereignty across multiple theatres of conflict.

Reflecting on the nation’s journey, the governor recalled the roles played by the armed forces from the Nigerian Civil War to peacekeeping and internal security operations in different parts of the country, noting that their commitment has remained unwavering in the face of daunting challenges.

 He said the 2026 theme, “United for Peace, Security, and National Unity,” highlights the urgent need for collective action in building a peaceful and secure Nigeria where citizens can live without fear and communities can thrive irrespective of ethnic or religious differences.

‎Governor Adeleke urged Nigerians to draw inspiration from the courage and resilience of serving personnel and veterans, stressing the importance of recognising and supporting ex-servicemen who have served the nation with distinction.

‎He called on citizens to use the occasion of the emblem launch as a reminder of their civic responsibility to promote peace, security and national unity, adding that only through collective effort can Nigeria achieve justice, equity and sustainable development.

‎Earlier, the Osun State Legion Chairman, Comrade Julius Oyarekun had appealed to the state government to increase his donations to make life better for the families of the fallen heroes and those with scars of war.

‎The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is observed annually to honour fallen soldiers and appreciate the contributions of serving and retired military personnel in safeguarding Nigeria’s unity and security.

Nigerians across all walks of life have converged on the Ooni of Ife’s Palace to celebrate the annual Olojo Festival.

The main thrust of the gathering is the need to promote and protect the Yoruba tradition.

Speaking during the event, Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke represented by his Deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, reiterated his commitment towards promotion and sustenance of culture and tourism to boost the state’s economy.

The Osun helmsman appealed to politicians in the state to prioritise the development of the state above party affiliation and personal interest.

In an interview with Radio Nigeria, President, Yoruba Council Worldwide, Aare Hassan Oladotun described Olojo Festival as an event which celebrates the aesthetic cultural heritage of Yorubaland and the Ooni of Ife as apex Monarch in Yorubaland.

Aare Oladotun stressed the value of the ‘omoluabi’ ethos, and urged Yorubas worldwide to embrace it.

Former member representing Ife Federal Constituency in the House of Reps, Mr. Rotimi Makinde, said the Festival was not just historic, but also one of the greatest events in Yorubaland.

According to him, the Ooni would wear the sacred beaded crown weighing over 50 kg, and it is believed that pointing or looking at it attracts answers to prayers.

Meanwhile, the Oni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, yesterday night ended his seven-day seclusion, marking a significant moment in this year’s Olojo Festival.

Emerging from the private retreat, Oba Ogunwusi, said he spent the period of isolation for intense supplication for the unity and progress of the nation.

Dignitaries at the event included High Chiefs of Ile – ife, lawmaker representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Mr.Olubiyi Fadeyi, former National Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Otunba Iyiola Omisore, Mr Akin Ogunbiyi, State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Bankole Ojo, Member representing Ife East State Constituency, Mr.Olumide Fatunmise and community associations.

The Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has sympathised with the residents of Iwo over last Friday’s flood.

According to a statement by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the Governor lamented the huge personal losses suffered by residents, noting that his administration would continue to safeguard lives and properties of the people.

The Governor said his administration has deployed resources to expand waterways in Iwo and its environs in addition to existing ones, assuring victims that the government will take stock of their losses and provide support for victims.

He also directed the Commissioner for Environment to conduct an on-the-spot assessment and come up with a lasting solution to flooding in Iwo and its environs.

Governor Adeleke urged residents of the State to support government efforts to prevent flooding by desisting from indiscriminate dumping of refuse on water channels.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has expanded Osun State’s start-up grant programme to include 2,000 new beneficiaries, comprising women and young people.

This is part of his administration’s drive to promote inclusive economic growth.

The Governor made this known during the presentation of Business Registration Certificates, Point-of-Sale, POS, terminals, and start-up grants to beneficiaries of the Imole Business Empowerment Scheme 1.0, organised by the Ministry of Cooperatives and Empowerment in partnership with some commercial banks.

Describing the initiative as a bold statement of people-centered governance, Governor Adeleke said the scheme was designed to deliver tangible empowerment to residents of the state.

According to the Governor, ₦736 million in interest-free loans has been distributed at the grassroots through ward-based cooperatives. At the same time, another ₦800 million has gone to conventional cooperative unions under the umbrella of FOSCOOP, reaching more than 10,000 members. An additional ₦50 million was also disbursed to Osun indigenes living outside the state.

Governor Adeleke also noted that persons with disabilities had benefited from empowerment schemes in partnership with Project Enable Africa, while rehabilitation works were ongoing at the Cooperative College in Ode-Omu.

According to the Governor, each beneficiary will receive a CAC Business Registration Certificate, a POS terminal, and a start-up grant to enable them to begin their entrepreneurial journey.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Empowerment and Cooperatives Development, Prince Bayo Ogungbangbe, had commended the initiative as proof of the administration’s commitment to sustainable development, women’s inclusion, and youth empowerment.

He urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the opportunity.

The event was attended by top government officials including Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, Chief of Staff Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, members of the State Executive Council, and representatives of partner banks.

Governor Ademola Adeleke has inspected the ongoing dualisation of Ilesa Road, assuring residents that the project will be completed on schedule and delivered to global standards.

The Governor, who expressed satisfaction with the pace of work, said the road project is central to his administration’s drive to improve transportation, stimulate commerce, and boost socio-economic growth in the state.

“We are resolute in our determination to complete this project on time and with the highest quality,” Adeleke said at the project site. “This dualisation will not only transform the outlook of Ilesa but also enhance commerce, safety, and the wellbeing of our people.”

Residents of Ilesa who turned out in large numbers to welcome the Governor, describing his governance as “hands-on approach” promised their continued support for his administration.

Governor Adeleke urged contractors handling the project to sustain the momentum and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to people-oriented projects across all zones of the state.

He was accompanied on the inspection by the Commissioner for Special Duty, Dr. Basiru Salami, the Director of Highways, Alhaji Moruf Ojebode, and other top government officials.

Oyo state Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde says the rancour-free process of the just-concluded PDP South West elective Zonal Congress was an ideal democratic practice that should be emulated by other zones and political parties across Nigeria.

The Governor who stated this at the Congress held in Ibadan, described the voting process as a funfair, showcasing the unity and oneness within the South West zone.

Governor Makinde also recalled the tension that had previously existed in the zone in the last four years, noting that the success of the zonal congress would be a forerunner ahead of the national convention of the party.

Also, Osun state Governor, Ademola Adeleke said the success of the congress would be a reference point and a signal of good things to come in the zone, adding that the South West PDP now speaks with one voice.

Announcing the result, former Akwa Ibom state Governor, and Chairman Electoral Committee, Udom Emmanuel announced Alhaji Kamorudeen Ajisafe and Mr Obagunwa Muyiwa unopposed as the Chairman and Secretary of the party.

Other newly elected officers include; Adeyemo Adetunji( Zonal Treasurer) Yaya Adeleke ( Zonal Financial Secretary) Atofarati Olusanya ( zonal Publicity Secretary) , Bosede Adedibu ( Zonal Women Leader) among others.

In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman, Alhaji Kamorudeen Ajisafe on behalf of the new executives, pledged to serve meritoriously.

Delegates from all six South West states, including Chief Bode George, graced the event as well as officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who monitored the exercise.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has directed immediate action on letters of appointment to new teachers.

Governor Adeleke gave the directive during the State Executive council meeting in Osogbo.

In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Orientation, Chief Kolapo Alimi, the governor vowed that he would not be swayed from the path of selfless service to Osun people.

Governor Adeleke noted that all efforts by detractors to distract his government from continuous delivery of good governance to Osun people have failed.

“A vicious, anti-democratic campaign was launched against our government. Osun was under siege in a manner nobody ever envisaged.

“But we survived the evil and offensive onslaught. We overcame forces of darkness that sought to impose anarchy on us. Our adversaries failed in their bid to plunge Osun into a killing field. With divine wisdom and mass support of our people, we retain and even consolidate our hold on the state.

The Governor informed the cabinet that his administration has taken major steps to hold accountable, officials of the previous administration, noting that the public was awash with infractions and procurement corruptions witnessed under the last government.

While commending members of his cabinet for rising against the opposition forces that sought to derail his administration, Governor Adeleke urged them to continue to pay attention to due process. 

“We must never succumb to the plot to distract us. We should continue to deliver on the five point agenda of this administration. We must complete all ongoing projects and launch new ones to spread democratic dividends to all corners of our state.

Governor Adeleke added that he was set to unveil the 2025 infra project implementation plan and timelines tomorrow, as well as commence statewide inspections and commissioning of ongoing and completed infra projects.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has felicitated Muslim faithful at home and in the diaspora on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement to mark the beginning of the holy month, the governor who emphasised the importance of godliness in governance enjoined Muslims to intercede on behalf of leaders for adherence to the will of God in discharging their duties.

The governor who described the Ramadan period as a month of spiritual rebirth, called for closer relationship with the creator of heaven and earth through fasting and prayers to achieve ultimate submission to the will of Allah.

While soliciting support for the needy during and after Ramadan, Governor Adeleke said the holy month is a period of intensive communing with Almighty Allah through humanitarian activities.

“This year’s Ramadan coincides with current misunderstanding among the political elites in our dear state. It is therefore a time for sober reflection, reassessment of viewpoints and an attention to the place of Allah in securing and exiting from power.

“As we fast, we must accept the divine prescription that Almighty Allah gives power to whom he wills. He elevates and downgrades. No mortal can upturn the will of Allah.

Governor Adeleke appreciated all clerics for their prayers and support for the peace and development of Osun state.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has directed immediate investigation on the case of a young man reportedly sentenced to death by hanging in Osun State for stealing a fowl.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the Governor ordered the Attorney General to intervene in the matter and ensure the young man is listed for the prerogative of mercy before the end of the year.

“I have read about the case. I recognize the separation of powers in our democracy. In this particular case, I have directed the Commissioner for Justice to initiate processes to grant a prerogative of mercy to the young man.

The governor maintained that Osun is a land of justice and equity and must ensure fairness and protection of the sanctity of lives. 

He assured the public that the government would as a matter of urgency respond to the matter.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has flagged off the fourth edition of Imole Free Surgical and Medical Outreach, disclosing that over 50,000 residents of the state have benefited from the initiative.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the initiative, which is part of the activities marking the two-year anniversary of his administration, Governor Adeleke described the outreach as one of the major achievements of his government.

He noted that the initiative had become a lifeline for the masses as it provided fast and accessible medical and surgical care to those in need.

“Since its inception, this programme has provided life-changing care to over 50,000 people. Many of these individuals could not afford treatment and lived with their conditions for years.

“In the last two years, we have achieved remarkable milestones in the health sector. We have strengthened primary healthcare, which is closest to the people. Over 200 primary health centers have been upgraded with 24-hour power and water supply.

“Our state was recently rated the best in the South West for health governance and leadership by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum. This success is a result of our commitment and strategic planning”.

Earlier in his remarks, the coordinator of the outreach, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Isiaka Adekunle, said the latest edition of the health initiative is unique because the outreach had incorporated additional health interventions without leaving any of the interventions of the previous episodes which include dental services, cervical cancer screening and breast examination to rule out breast cancer.

Dr Adekunle mentioned that beneficiaries would be treated for hypertension, diabetes, malaria, cough, arthritis and other medical diseases while there would be surgical removal of hernias, hydroceles and various lumps.

He added that there would be cataract and pterygium operation, distribution of reading glasses and other eye treatments, noting that scaling and polishing, tooth extraction and general dental examination, cervical cancer screening and breast examination will be carried out.

The programme will be taking place at six State Hospitals in Osun State namely Osogbo from 17th to 18th of December 2024; Iwo from 14th to 15th January 2025; Ilesa from 21st to 22nd January 2025; Ikirun from 28th to 29th January 2025; Ife, from 4th to 5th February 2025 and Ede from 11th to 12th of February 2025.

Beneficiaries of the ongoing free health programme at Specialist Hospital Asubiaro, Osogbo, commended the governor at the flag-off.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke says his administration is focused on boosting local economy and alleviating hardship among the people by empowering market men and women as well as artisans.

Governor Adeleke stated this at the official issuance of cash backed cheques running into millions of Naira to cooperatives societies at Ife and Obokun/Oriade federal constituencies.

Addressing Cooperative societies members at Ile Ife City Hall and Ijebujesa town hall, Governor Adeleke said the funds being disbursed to the local cooperatives were designed to support grassroots businesses and to ensure financial inclusion for the vulnerable segments of the society. 

“We are here in pursuance of financial inclusion for artisans and local businesses. Our administration is determined to financially empower our grassroot traders” as “the Cooperative platform provides the best path to achieving our agenda on financial inclusion.

“You would all recall that the first Osun State Cooperative Summit was held in January, 2024. Part of the fall out of the summit was our government’s declaration that a sum of One Billion Naira would be released to the cooperative sector. My government is implementing that decision as can be attested to by stakeholders.

“The Cooperative sector in the state comprises the Federation of Osun State Cooperative Limited  ( FOSCOOP) and the newly established Ward Based Cooperative societies. In effect, there are now a minimum of about 332 Ward based cooperative societies in Osun State all of which have received about One Million Naira each. 

“To date, the amount of loans released to the Federation of Osun State Cooperative Limited (FOSCOOP) is about Seven Hundred Million Naira (N700.000,000) . The loan disbursement is being handled in batches.

Governor Adeleke maintained that his administration had released funds for the rehabilitation and upgrade of the Odeomu Cooperative College and as well directed the Ministry of Cooperative and Empowerment to ensure proper linkage between the College and the state universities to deepen the capacity of the College through academic exchanges in relevant fields.

The Governor urged beneficiaries of the first phase of the loan disbursement to invest it judiciously in their businesses.

“Our government will be following up. We promise to reward beneficiaries who grow their businesses from this exercise. We will not relent in our support to grow the local economy through financial inclusion”.

In a remark, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II commended the initiative, describing it as a strong way to reach the grassroots of small businesses.

Ooni Ogunwusi added that the cooperative approach would boost the local economy and provide much needed funds for the small business operators to thrive and survive.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Cooperatives and Empowerment, Mr. Bayo Ogungbangbe noted that this was the first time cooperative movement would be so supported.

Governor Adeleke disclosed that the Federation of Osun State Cooperatives and the 332 Ward based Cooperatives were beneficiaries of the disbursement.

Meanwhile, the governor announced the commencement of distribution of federal and state rice to every segment of the society.

In a bid to end economic hardship and hunger in Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke has pledged his support for the Bank of Agriculture, BoA, to boost the agriculture sector.

Governor Adeleke stated this while receiving the representatives of the Bank of Agriculture in his office, State Secretariat, Abere, Osun State.

He maintained that Osun is known to be an agrarian State which needs the collaborative effort of stakeholders to increase food production in the land.

The Governor, while acknowledging that the Bank of Agriculture plays a central role in the development of the agriculture sector, said the State is open for business. 

He urged the Bank to submit a proposal for partnership to the State Government for further action.

Earlier, the Southwest Zonal Manager of the Bank, Mr Adekunle Osho had called for a partnership with Osun State Government to assist farmers with loans to boost their farming businesses.

He commended Governor Adeleke for his giant stride in improving the State economy through the disbursement of loans to traders and other developmental projects in the State.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has commended Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State for his good performance, urging him not to derail as a people’s governor.

Chief Obasanjo who attended the conferment of the title of Baba Oba of Joga-Orile on Governor Adeleke said Almighty God Who has been helping him perform very well will not forsake him.

He noted that he valued the governor’s respect for elders, explaining how Adeleke declared he wouldn’t go for the event unless he (Obasanjo) blessed the occasion.

Also speaking, Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun who recalled his long term affiliation with the Adeleke family said the chieftaincy title brought memories of the first executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Isiaka Adeleke.

According to Governor Abiodun, the conferment of the title on Governor Adeleke is a celebration of the good memories of the late Isiaka Adeleke, declaring that they are for families and not politics.

The Ogun governor who explained that the event was his first public function at Yewa since he won at the Supreme Court, said the gathering brought great emotions but noted that it is also a celebration of grace and mercy of God on the Adeleke family.

The host king, Oba Adeyemi Adekeye explained that the first holder of the title was the late Governor Isiaka Adeleke noting that after the transition of late Isiaka Adetunji, it was right to bestow the honour on Governor Ademola Adeleke.

In his response, Governor Adeleke said he dedicated the new title to the memory of his late brother, describing the occasion as a celebration of life and a worthy remembrance of his brother, Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke.

There is a need for the federal government to recruit more personnel into the Nigerian Army to tackle the security challenges facing the nation.

The Chairman, Nigerian Legion, Oyo State Command, Julius Ogunkojo made the case while speaking with journalists during this year’s Armed Forces and Remembrance Day celebration held at the Remembrance Arcade Agodi, Ibadan.

He stressed the need to boost the morale of soldiers through the payment of their benefits and improved living wages.

Mr Ogunkojo therefore implored government and well-meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the ex-servicemen to enhance their lives.

The host of the event, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, commended the service commanders, men and officers in Oyo State for their dedication to securing the state. 

Governor Makinde said his administration would continue to support the families of the fallen soldiers and make life bearable for them.

The highlight of the ceremony is the laying of the wreath and firing of the 21-gun salute as a mark of honour to the ex-servicemen.

The Armed Forces and Remembrance Day celebration which is an annual event on every 15th January is set aside to identify with the fallen heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice in defending the country and keeping the international peace.

Also in Osun State, the Armed Forces and Remembrance Day celebration was celebrated.

Nigerians owe the families of gallant fallen heroes a duty of care, support and prayers at all times to ameliorate their pain and loss.

Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke stated this at the grand finale and laying of wreath at the Military Cenotaph for the 2024 Armed Forces and Remembrance Day celebration in Osogbo.

Governor Adeleke stressed the need to provide support for retired soldiers and families of men and women of the armed forces who sacrificed their lives in the fight against insurgency, banditry and other crimes in the country.

While commending the sacrifices made by the fallen heroes in defending the nation’s sovereign integrity, peace and unity, the governor said he would continue to advocate the interest of retired and serving officers at national and other strategic levels.

He pointed out that when a nation cares for its service personnel, the defence infrastructure is further entrenched with the civil population.

The governor called on public and private organizations to expand their support for the military stressing that in the face of conflict and economic depression, the nation’s security should remain a national priority.

Governor Adeleke who commended the military leadership for the implementation of the civil-military intervention programme, noted that the Chief of Army Staff has commissioned several projects since he assumed office.

He urged the military leadership to work with the community development agencies in each state in the implementation process to ensure the right location of projects and synergy with local development plans.

The governor assured the legionnaires and veterans of government readiness to attend to their demands presented before him.

At the event, prayers were offered for the repose of the souls of departed soldiers and a 21-gun salute honour.

The grand finale of the 2024 Armed Forces and Remembrance Day celebration which had in attendance dignitaries from government and the security agencies featured the laying of a wreath and a special parade in honour of the departed heroes.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke says he will refocus attention on cushioning current economic hardship as well as building the state economic base.

Governor Adeleke who stated this in his New Year broadcast to felicitate with the people of Osun and usher in year 2024, said both goals are achievable as his government have demonstrated in the last one year.

While noting that Nigeria is going through national economic crisis, Governor Adeleke commended President Bola Tinubu for his relentless action towards economic restoration.

He said Osun state, through the National Economic Council, is collaborating with the federal government to support initiatives targeted at reducing inflation, cost of living and stabilising the national economy.

The Governor assured that the various intervention funds received from the Federal Government and development partners would be carefully applied for various purposes as designed, ranging from infrastructure, wage award, transport logistics to social investment as manifested in the many completed and ongoing grassroots development projects in the state.

Governor Adeleke said he remained firmly focus on the Five Point Agenda under which he was elected into office, which are transparency and accountability, open government, localisation, responsive leadership and paying attention to citizens’ aspirations.

The Governor further solicited the continued support of the people to achieve common agenda for collective prosperity promising that he would continue to run a listening and responsive administration, a government of the people ,by the people and for the people.

Similarly, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has called on the people of the State to embrace year 2024, with renewed hope as his administration is working hard to make life bearable for them.

The governor, who made the call in his New Year broadcast to the people of the state, noted that 2023 had been a challenging year for many Nigerians as a result of the precarious economic situation in the country.

Governor Abiodun, however, lauded the people for remaining steadfast despite all odds.

Congratulating the people for making it into the New Year, Governor Abiodun said his administration would redouble its efforts towards meeting their needs, pledging to do so with sincerity, humility, and integrity.

He promised to govern with unwavering dedication, equity, inclusiveness, and accountability while upholding the rule of law.

Reflecting on the journey so far, Governor Abiodun emphasized that his government has achieved significant milestones, covering substantial grounds across the state, assuring that all ongoing projects would be completed while new frontiers would be opened under the “ISEYA” mantra, even in the face of global socio-economic challenges.

He noted that power supply is being enhanced and expanded to improve electricity, while the state remained the first in Nigeria to deploy Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueled buses, which has resulted in reduced transport fares.

Governor Abiodun stated that Over 700,000 tree seedlings have been planted in the forest reserves to combat deforestation, while over 40,000 farmers have been empowered to ensure food security and promote agribusiness

He announced the restoration of water supply to major towns, especially Abeokuta and its environs, as the results of complete rehabilitation of the Arakanga waterworks and pipeline reticulation, just as he said over 5,000 beneficiaries were issued the new one-page double-sided CofOs.

On healthcare delivery, the governor said over 100 primary healthcare centers in 100 wards were renovated and equipped; Ilera-Dero, a Health Insurance Scheme, was established, while over 3,000 affordable housing units were constructed across the state.

The governor further disclosed that over 60,000 women have been empowered through various intervention programmes, adding that over 1,200 classrooms have been reconstructed, 5,000 teachers recruited, and thousands of desks and chairs provided to make learning environment conducive.

Governor Abiodun called for more support and prayers from the people, assuring that his government would fulfil all the promises made in the course of campaign and electioneering, leading to the 2023 general elections.

The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has advised Corps members posted to the state to embrace the virtue

of selfless service and humility during their service year.

Governor Adeleke gave the advice at the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Ede, during the closing ceremony and terminal parade of the 2023 Batch C, stream I orientation course.

Represented by his Deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, the Governor noted that the business of nation-building and integration required selflessness, sacrifice and humility.

“Therefore, let these virtues be your watchword throughout the service year. Be diplomatic in your dealings with the people, and be courteous and respectful at all times. Do not cast aspersion on their way of life but rather respect and embrace their diversity.”

Senator Adeleke implored them to embrace the challenges that lie ahead with enthusiasm and resilience, adding that their service year is an opportunity to make a positive impact on the communities where they will be posted.

He,  however, assured them of the Osun State Government’s unwavering support and commitment to their welfare throughout the service year.

Earlier, the State Coordinator, of NYSC in Osun, Mr Ndoma Obim charged the corps members to embrace diversity, be responsible citizens, and strive for excellence in their various places of primary assignment. 

He reminded them that they were now ambassadors of unity and positive change in Osun State, Lagos State and any State they may redeploy to for those of them going on redeployment.

“I also want to remind you that the NYSC Scheme is not just about service to your nation; it is also an opportunity for personal growth and development. Make the most of it, and you will not only impact the communities you serve but also transform yourselves in the process.” He said.

The Osun State Government and Canadian High Commission has consolidated economic partnership with a follow up bilateral talks between Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Canadian top diplomats in Lagos.

Governor Ademola Adeleke who led some government officials including the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to fostering a conducive environment for businesses to thrive in Osun.

He pointed out that he has made a remarkable progress within his 10 months in office, including blocking revenue leakages, maintaining transparency, and practicing a government-citizens relationship.

Governor Adeleke explained that his visit was designed to reinforce conclusions reached during the High Commissioner’s visit to Osun State  and to brainstorm on his upcoming trip to Canada to meet Canadian sectoral investors.

“I also highlighted Osun’s strategic location in the Southwest, which facilitates the movement of agricultural produce”, the Governor was quoted as saying, adding that “our plans for a cargo airport, the presence of a sub-power station that will be a major benefit to be a manufacturing hub with the right investments, a free trade zone, and an economic zone.

Governor Adeleke assured the High Commissioner of the state government dedication to providing investors with a secure and supportive atmosphere for their ventures to flourish.

In a remark, the High Commissioner, James Christoff reiterated his earlier assurance of the Canadian government to deepen economic partnership with subnational entities across Nigeria and Africa.

The delegation was received by the High Commissioner, James Christoff, Deputy C.J. Scott, and their team in the trade and political section.

Recall that the Canadian High Commissioner, James Christoff had led his team at High Commission to Osun state five weeks ago during which sectoral teams of the Osun state government made presentations on potential partnership and collaboration between the state and Canada.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has flagged off the National Immunization Plus Days, NIPDs, programme for babies between ages of 0-59 months in Osogbo, with a charge to nursing mothers to take advantage of the programme to get their children vaccinated.

Governor Ademola Adeleke, who was represented by his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi at the immunization flag-off, said Osun State has been leading in the previous campaign due to co-operation of parents and caregivers in the State.

The Governor disclosed that one million four hundred and ninety-nine thousand, seven hundred and thirty-four (1,499,734) were immunized in December, 2023, revealing that the target for September campaign is one million five hundred and thirty thousand, two hundred and ninety-five (1,530,295).

Governor Adeleke said that his administration has been supporting the Immunization activities through release of counterpart fund as well as monitoring and supervision of health care services across  the State.

While pointing out that no new case of Polio infection has been recorded in the last few years, the Governor however acknowledged that recent tests have however found traces of the virus in some stools sampled.

In his welcome address the Chairman Osun State Primary Health Care Development Board, Mr. Adisa Tajudeen appreciated the Governor for his commitment to the health and well-being of Osun people.

Mr. Adisa added that the importance of vaccination to children in the State can not be overstated as it has saved countless livers, thereby preventing disability and suffering in our society.

The exercise, aimed at giving two drops of the Novel Oval Polio Vaccine to children within age 0 to 59 months, irrespective of their previous immunization status, is scheduled to hold between 30th September and 2nd October, 2023.

The Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, says the brain drain in the medical sector calls for concern of stakeholders. 

The Governor stated this at the 9th Annual International Oncology Multidisciplinary team symposium organized by the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Clinical Science, College of Health Science, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. 

The Governor, represented by his Special Adviser on Public Health, Dr. Akindele Adekunle reiterated its readiness to support any innovative ideas that can stem the wave of increasing cancer related diseases in Nigeria.

“The rate of cancer related cases, as you must be aware, is becoming troubling and more troubling is the dwindling number of experts in the medical field to combat the menace.

Governor Adeleke commended the surgeons, medical specialists and oncologists for being life-savers and contributing immensely to the sustenance of humanity through the discharge of their duties and responsibilities.

He said the state is ready to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to improve healthcare service in the state and give attention to sensitive medical issues like cancer and other related terminal diseases. 

“We salute the oncologists, the cancer specialists, be it medical, radiation, or surgical oncologists. Like I mentioned earlier, this brainstorming assembly wouldn’t have come at a better time than now.

“Osun State government under our healthcare agenda, would leave no stone unturned to partner with life saving institutions like this great body, to breath life to dying cells”. 

The Governor tasked the participants to use the 3-Day symposium to deliberate on breaking barriers of opportunities for training and grooming more capable hands in order to stem the dearth of medical experts and brain drain in the health sector and also to reduce medical tourism of Nigerians.

The Osun State Government has dismissed the allegation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of hoarding the N2billion fund received from the federal government as a mere rhetoric, urging the people of the state to be wary of scheme by the opposition to pitch them against the performing Adeleke administration.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Kolapo Alimi, the State Government said it was unfortunate that the APC is counting on sheer misinformation to warm itself back into the heart of the people following its abysmal performance in government that is responsible for the resounding rejections suffered at polls from Osun people.

Mr. Alimi maintained that the Adeleke administration’s resolve to transparency and judiciously administering any resources in its possession unlike the experience with the immediate past APC government, assuring Osun people that the N2bn is safe and will be applied in a transparent manner to their benefits.

“For the APC to begin to peddle outrageous claims that this government is hoarding N2bn fund received from the FG is a clear sign of how low it has sunk. The APC has become consistent in peddling wild theories and cooking tales just to create a false impression about the Adeleke administration in the minds of Osun people.

“Osun people will note that the Osun State Government announced the receipt of the N2bn fund from FG, but to guide against the kind of experience of the abuse that featured prominently in the past, the Adeleke administration is carefully thinking through utilization of the fund especially when it is not a free gift as Osun APC erroneously tried to paint.

The state government, therefore, called on Osun people to reject the antics of the APC as it was never borne out of genuine concern for their welfare, but mere political pandering adding that the Adeleke administration understands the tough situation that the removal of fuel subsidy imposed on them and is working within available resources to cushion the impact.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State Governor says he is committed to revamping the education sector in the state.

Governor Adeleke stated this at the opening of 3-day education summit for stakeholders in the education sector in Osogbo, Osun state.

Represented by his Deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, the Governor said his administration will leave no stone unturned towards regaining the lost glory in the sector before the end of his first term in office.

Governor Adeleke who berated the performance index rating of the state as the 34th in external examinations in Nigeria, expressed conviction in the outcome of the summit to address the many anomalies currently associated with education in Osun state.

Earlier, the state Commissioner for Education, Mr. Dipo Eluwole highlighted the challenges of the education sector in the state including decayed infrastructures coupled with inadequate teachers, which he said have accounted for the poor performance of students in both internal and external examinations.

 Mr. Eluwole urged all stakeholders to see the job of revamping the sector as a collective responsibility.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman of the Education Summit, Professor Oyesoji Aremu and the Chairman of the occasion who is also the Orangun of Oke-Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, commended Governor Adeleke for his commitment to give a new lease of life to education sector in Osun state.

Members of the Osun State cabinet have been urged to avoid hero worshiping and eye service but to be men and women of true integrity and honesty.

Governor Ademola Adeleke who made the call at 3-day leadership training for cabinet members in Osogbo, Osun State capital, described his cabinet as the sacrificial lamb for the greatness of the state, through personal sacrifice, diligent hard work and innovative governance..

The Governor said he will rate each cabinet member on their innovation, team work, prudence, personal discipline, comportment, loyalty to the Imole project and service delivery.

He reminded the cabinet members that their Memorandum for council meeting must be prepared in close partnership with their permanent secretaries and must be well guided by their accounting officers.

Governor Adeleke maintained that the state economic situation demands deliberate action on inadequate infrastructure in the state, while speaking with the cabinet.

Some of the cabinet members at the training including, Special Adviser on Legal Matters, Mr. Hashim Abioye and Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Reverend Bunmi Jenyo described the leadership training as key to assist them for optimal performance.

Mr. Abioye and Reverend Jenyo assured that they are ready for collaboration and team work for the development of the state.

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke has charged Local Governments, Employers, other stakeholders to prioritize the welfare and security of corps members posted to them.

Addressing members of the Batch B stream I of the NYSC during the closing ceremony at its Osun State permanent orientation Camp in Ede, Senator Adeleke said the corps employers and critical stakeholders in the society owed the corps members the duty of mentorship towards building quality citizens.

The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi charged the participants to integrate with their host communities and adapt to the new environment.

“I implore you to integrate yourselves with your host communities identifying with their problems and aspirations. Rid yourselves of ethnic prejudice, religious intolerance and fear by befriending the people of your host communities, respect their culture and traditions and always strive to live peaceably among them. Our people are loving and hospitable and I want to assure you that you will enjoy living among them.”

He assured them of adequate security and enabling environment to make utilize their potential in the state.

“I  want to assure you that my administration will continue to create an enabling and conductive environment for you to operate. We shall continue with the regular payment of your State allowance to those of you serving in the State institutions and agencies”.

Earlier, the NYSC Coordinator, Osun, Mr Agbor Ndoma Obim had commended the corp members for their conduct in the course of the three weeks orientation, particularly the rapt attention they gave to the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme SAED.

Mr Obim advised them to avoid truancy and lateness at their places of Primary Assignment (PPA), while urging them to be team players and a shining example by contributing to the success of the organization they are posted to.

The Coordinator also admonished them to serve their host communities with patriotic zeal.

“Aside the group community development service which is compulsory for all Corps Members, I urge you as an individual to identify a felt need in your community and mobilize to meet that need. By so doing, you will be leaving a legacy in that community”.

Mr Obim on behalf of the NYSC Director General thanked the Osun State Governor for donating 2000 mattresses to the camp, reroofing of the pavilion as well as the repainting of the administration block.

The Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Prince Adewale Egbedun has described the attack on Governor Ademola Adeleke by some alleged political thugs at the Osogbo Eid praying ground, as barbaric. 

The Speaker stated this in a Statement made to newsmen by his Press Secretary, Mr. Olamide Tiamiyu in Osogbo.

The Speaker who was on the entourage of the Governor when the attack occurred, said Governor Adeleke and his team escaped the evil plan of the miscreants with the prompt intervention of the governor’s security details and the grace of God.

Prince Egbedun called on Security Operatives to ensure proper investigation of the incident and ensure that those involved were made to face the wrath of the Law.

It would be recalled that Senator Ademola Adeleke could not observe the rakat prayers for the Eid-El-Kabir celebration following a misunderstanding over the sitting arrangement at the eid prayer ground in Osogbo.

The Governor left after the arranged space for him was occupied by the Former Senate Spokesperson, Senator Ajibola Bashir who had earlier arrived the venue. 

According to report, Muslim leaders made attempts to wade in by arranging another space for Senator Bashir, who insisted on not leaving his seat.

A minor misunderstanding however broke out between the PDP and APC loyalists after the departure of the governor’ but was quickly resolved by security operatives on ground.
