The Zonal Director, Ibadan National Station, Alhaji Muhammed Bello has handed over the affairs of the corporation to the Deputy Director Marketing, Mrs Bolanle Owoyemi as acting Zonal Director.

The event which was held at the Studio One, Broadcasting House, Dugbe, Ibadan, featured handing over ceremony and recognition of outstanding members of staff.

In a remark, the retiring Zonal Director described his successor, Mrs Owoyemi as an up and doing management staff who was always concerned with activities of Radio Nigeria.

Receiving the challenge, the newly appointed acting Zonal Director, Mrs Bolanle Owoyemi appreciated his predecessor for leaving a good legacy behind in FRCN.

Mrs Owoyemi expressed the determination to prioritize the needs of FRCN and to keep the flag flying.

Outstanding members of staff across departments under Ibadan Zonal Station of the corporation were recognized with awards.

Some of the awardees said the gesture would spur them to do more.

The staffers prayed to God to guide the Alhaji Mohammed Bello as he moved to another stage in life.

Radio Nigeria has been rated the best among the radio broadcast outfits in Africa.

The founder of Victory Life International Ministry, Bishop Mike Bamidele dropped this hint while welcoming the Committee of Management members of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, led by the Zonal Director, Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Muhammed Bello.

Director-General of FRCN, Mariah Odeh as staff of the station in Jos, Plateau State, said the Radio Nigeria remained the flagship of the broadcast industry in the continent.

Bishop Bamidele spoke on his age-long relationship with Gold FM, Ilesa,
explaining that his late wife Reverend Mrs Titi Bamidele was a preacher
on the station before she answered the call to glory.

Earlier, the Zonal Director, Alhaji Mohammed Bello had commiserated with the founder of Victory Life International Ministry, praying God to give him fortitude to bear the loss.

Issues relating to problems associated with migration and its benefits were the focal point when Journalists International Forum for Migration, JIFORM, paid courtesy a visit to the management of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station.

Setting the ball rolling, JIFORM President, Mr. Abayomi Ajibola expressed worry that a large percentage of Africans including Nigerians were in irregular status in foreign lands.

The JIFORM president while explaining that many Nigerians were stranded across the world said the need to agitate for the needs of citizens’ necessitated the establishment of JIFORM.

Mr. Ajibola noted that the second summit of the organization scheduled to hold in Ibadan on the fifteenth of October, 2020 was to address all problems associated with migration.

He explained that the forum was willing to project advantages of migration on national economy, stating that migration had a lot of advantages.

Mr. Ajibola while describing as unwholesome, the attitude of many Nigerian citizens who were hell bent in leaving the country without putting into consideration hazards of irregular migration, sought the support of Radio Nigeria on awareness campaign on benefits of legitimate migration. 

In a comment, Deputy Director News and Current Affairs, FRCN Ibadan, Reverend Olusegun Ayankoso urged JIFORM to ensure that topics to be discussed at the summit were all encompassing, and should positively affect the narratives on migration matters. 

Responding, Zonal Director, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Muhammad Bello while assuring JIFORM of FRCN’s support admitted that a lot needed to be done to discourage Nigerians especially the youths who were trying to leave the country at all cost. 

Both parties expressed worry on the prevalence of brain drain in the country.

Other issues discussed included factors responsible for the indiscriminate search of greener pasture among the youths, challenges being faced by Nigerians in the Diaspora and the benefits of migration.

The state coordinator, The Muslim Congress, TMC, Oyo State Chapter, Alhaji Daud Oladosu has called on agitators of secession to call off the agenda and embrace a united Nigeria.

He made the call at the 2020 Annual State Lecture of the organization entitled “Religion and Science for a COVID-19 Free World: Conflict and Confluence” held at Studio One, Broadcasting House, Dugbe, Ibadan.

Alhaji Oladosu who observed that the removal of oil subsidy would end corruption, called on government to ensure that the fund is used to renovate refineries and develop infrastructure.

Alhaji Oladosu maintained that there is need for Nigerians to be patriotic as God is pleased to allow the nation exist for the past 60 years.

In a remark, the Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Mohammed Bello represented by a Manager News and Current Affairs, Alhaji Ridwan Fasasi, recognised the constant patronage and sustained partnership between the FRCN and TMC, urged the congress to continue to enlighten Muslims and other Nigerians on contemporary issues.

The need for collaboration among media unions to foster improved welfare for media workers took the center stage at the inauguration of FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Radio, Television and Theatre Workers’ Union, RATTAWU, secretariat.

Setting the tone at the event was the Chairman RATTAWU FRCN Chapel Ibadan, Mr Feyisola Aremu who advocated collaboration between RATTAWU and other media related unions in the course of enhanced welfare packages for media workers.

Mr Aremu explained that the media professionals like other health personnel were at the fore front in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, among other difficult tasks, hence the need to accord more priority to their needs.

While commending the FRCN Ibadan RATTAWU for the laudable project which he described as worthy of emulation, the National President RATTAWU, Mallam Garba Sanni pledged the determination of his administration to always bring issues relating to welfare of members to the fore.

The guest lecturer, a veteran journalist, Mr Dele Ogunsola noted that laying-off of media workers due to coronavirus was not new, urging people to diversify and prepare for unforeseen circumstances.

Mr Ogunsola however advocated for agriculture as another source of livelihood.

Reacting to the beauty of the secretariat and the doggedness of the union, the zonal director, FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Mohammed Bello appreciated the efforts of the executive members of the union on the provision of nose masks for members of staff, including infrared thermometer to fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the organization.

Alhaji Bello however advised RATTAWU to organize trainings and workshops that would enhance the performance of their members.

Highlights of the event included chanting of solidarity song, presentation of award to the Zonal Director FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Mohammed Bello.

Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Mohammed Bello, has described a former Chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, late Elder Bode Oyewole as a mentor and very hardworking man.

Alhaji Bello said this while reacting to the death of the football administrator who died on Tuesday in Ibadan during a brief illness.

He stated that the late Elder Oyewole was a total representation of a media professional.

Alhaji Bello added that the late Elder Oyewole would be greatly missed for his contributions to the media profession. 

Also, two veteran journalists, Alhaji Wole Abioye and Prince Adeolu Adeyefa have described the death of Elder Bode Oyewole as very devastating. 

While Prince Adeyefa expressed shock over the demise of the seasoned Journalist, Alhaji Abioye stated that the late Oyewole, who was his colleague for many years, was a thorough-bred journalist, who did not condone laziness.

Alhaji Abioye, a retired Deputy Director News of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, said the late Oyewole was only complaining of cough when he got a call from him two days before his death.

He then prayed God to grant the late Oyewole eternal rest.

Elder Bode Oyewole who retired as a management staff of the Federal Radio Corporation, Ibadan National Station, was a former chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo State chapter and a patron of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Oyo State chapter.

National Blacksmith, Welders and Iron Benders Association, Oyo State chapter has donated a hand-washing device to the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Dugbe, Ibadan.

The device which has a height of about four feet is operated with a pedal to avoid touching the metal.

Governor of the association, Mr Munirudeen Adegoke said the association made the device to contribute their quota to the fight against coronavirus.

Mr Adegoke noted that the metal device would encourage better hygiene and aid the physical distancing campaign.

He also used the medium to call on the government to assist them in production of such device which according to him should be in all public places.

Receiving the device on behalf of the Zonal Director FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Muhammed Bello, Deputy Director, Marketing, Mrs Bolanle Owoyemi appreciated the association and pledged the readiness of radio Nigeria to collaborate with them.

Death has been described as inevitable, hence the need for people to be of good characters in order to benefit from Allah’s blessings in the hereafter.

Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN Ibadan, Alhaji Mohammed Bello stated this when he paid a condolence visit to the family of Abiola who lost their son, Alhaji Tajudeen Abiola yesterday.

Alhaji Bello said though, nobody could avoid death but people need to prepare for heaven while on earth with good deeds and conducts in line with the teachings of Allah.

He also urged the wife of the deceased to take heart and prayed Allah to give the family the fortitude to bear the loss of the departed soul.

Reacting on behalf of the Family, only son of the deceased, Hafeez Abiola said the family was overwhelmed with the way Radio Nigeria Ibadan staff sympathised with them.

Alhaji Tajudeen Abiola died on Tuesday during a brief illness at the age of sixty-six and he was survived by an aged mother, wife and children including a Radio Nigeria staff, Tawakalit Ibrahim of the News and Current Affairs Department.

Presenting the gifts, the Zonal Director, Alhaji Mohammed Bello said the gesture was done to encourage Arani Yahyah who travelled all the way from Iseyin to Ibadan.

Responding, Yahya who is a student of Hawaru Islam High School 2, Isalu Iseyin, explained that he enjoyed listening to sports and yoruba programs on Amuludun 99.1, Fm, Moniya Ibadan.

Yahya advocated for more yoruba programs on Radio Nigeria Ibadan airwaves.

Items presented to him included nose mask, alcohol based hand sanitizers, books and Ankara fabrics.

The need for employees and employers to know emerging trends in pension fund administration formed the focus of a day interactive forum organized by Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers in Ibadan.

The event which held at the Ibadan Civic Center, Idi Ape witnessed the presence of Federal, State, Local, Corporate and Private Employees in Oyo state.

Addressing the participants on the emerging trends in Pension Fund Administration in Nigeria, Head of Contribution and Collection of Stanbic IBTC Pension, Mrs Oyinkansola Ishola said Enhanced Contribution Registration System recently introduced by Federal Government requires a recapture of employees in the database which involved the provision of National Identification Number, NIN, to prevent fraud and ensure genuine capture of employees.

Mrs Ishola said under-funding and unaccredited PFA accounts as well as incorrect data by employees were some of challenges confronting the organization.

While taking the participants on the overview of the organization, the Regional Manager, Mr. Femi Fagbohun said, Stanbic IBTC Pension Administration has about 1.7 million contributors in Nigeria and has paid over 3billion naira monthly to beneficiaries.

Mr. Fagbohun explained that with the review of the 2004 Pension Contributory Act in June 2014, the contributory system had not only mandated employees and employers to contribute to retirement saving account but had made an upward review of contribution to 8 and 10 per cent.

In an interview, the Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Muhammed Bello said the forum was important as it would enable contributors from FRCN to get adequate information on their pension status.

The Bishop of Ondo Anglican Diocese, Right Reverend Stephen Oni gave the admonition at the burial service of the former Minister of Information, Chief Alexander Akinyele which took place at All Saints Anglican Church, Ogbonkowo, Ondo kingdom.

Bishop Oni who spoke on the topic, “The Choice Is Yours: Translation or Condemnation”, described death as a passage to an appointment of no return hence man should please God and continually live a life of reflection.

The Bishop described late Akinyele as a man of influence who impacted lives and called on those in positions of authority to live a life that pleases God and better humanity.

The Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, represented by the Director, Human Resource Management in the ministry, Mr. Sunday Ewa, said Chief Akinyele’s contributions to nation-building would remain indelible.

Also speaking at the service, a former governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko who described late Chief Akinyele as an illustrious son of Ondo kingdom said he would be greatly missed.

The children in separate interviews with Radio Nigeria said the demise of their father had left a vacuum that would be difficult to fill.

Dignitaries at the burial service included Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the Osemawe of Ondo kingdom, Oba Dr. Victor Kiladejo represented by his wife, Ondo high chiefs, the Director General, Radio Nigeria, Dr. Mansur Liman represented by Zonal Director Radio Nigeria, Ibadan, Alhaji Mohammed Bello, and other top government functionaries.

House of Representatives Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values, has pledged its determination to upgrade facilities of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN.

Chairman of the committee, Mr. Olusegun Odebunmi made the pledge when he led other members of the committee on facility inspection to FRCN stations in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Radio Nigeria reporter, Adedayo Adelowo, reports that the committee was received by the management of the FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station.

The first port of call was Amuludun FM at Moniya, the only federal government-owned indigenous radio station in the Southwest, where they were received amidst pomp and ceremony.

The facilities inspected both at Amuludun FM and Broadcasting House, Dugbe, included live and recording studios, mast and power generating plants which has been one of the major challenges of the station, and other broadcasting equipment.

The Zonal Director, FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Mohammed Bello, who conducted them round the operational areas, took the pains to explain the state of the broadcasting equipment.

Alhaji Bello said Radio Nigeria was an asset to the nation, which should not be allowed to languish in infrastructural decay.

Having inspected the facilities, the chairman of the committee and member representing Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency in Oyo State, Mr. Olusegun Odebunmi, who expressed dissatisfaction on the state of facilities at the federal establishment, however, commended management and staff of FRCN Ibadan for dishing out quality services despite the visible challenges.

Mr. Odebunmi pledged the readiness of the committee to put the needs of the station forward for prompt action, expressing the confidence that the visit would definitely yield positive results in no distant time.

He implored the management and staff of FRCN to work towards improving their internally generated revenue to complement the effort of the government.

In a remark, Director General, FRCN, Dr. Mansur Liman, who was represented by the Director of Finance, Mr. Michael Oluwole, assured the visitors that Radio Nigeria would not disappoint them.

The committee, thereafter proceeded to the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, Ibadan.

The entire Atoyebi Royal Family of Ogbomoso has announced the death of the former Executive Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station and Lagos Operations, Prince Atilade Atoyebi.

A statement by the family of the deceased, says the ex-FRCN Director, veteran journalist, media consultant, and former executive chairman of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, BCOS, died on Saturday 18th this year at a private hospital in Lagos after a brief illness.

In his reaction, Director, FRCN Lagos Operations, Mr. Yinka Amosun described Prince Atoyebi as a loving, caring human being and a great boss in his time, whose vacuum would never be filled.

Also speaking, Zonal Director, FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Mohammed Bello said the news about Prince Atoyebi’s death was shocking and prayed that God would forgive him all his shortcomings.

Prince Atilade Atoyebi who died at the age of 72 years is survived by wife, three children, and grandchildren.

A non-governmental organization also known as Bode Akindele Yield Initiative, BAYI, has solicited the support of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, in its quest towards repositioning Nigerian youths for national development.

The Executive Director of Bode Akindele Yield Initiatve, Pastor Adetunji Agboola stated this during a courtesy visit of the organization to the management of FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station.

Pastor Agboola said adolescents in Nigeria with development innovation were prone to social vices saying the vision of BAYI to catch them young to fulfill their life mandate would better be achieved through collaboration with Radio Nigeria.

Pastor Agboola said fifty thousand youths in the country be employed in the organization’s agricultural business to reduce poverty in the country.

In her remark, BAYI Programm Director, Mrs. Bukola Omosanya said Bode Akindele Yield Initiative organized community intervention as well as established BAYI clubs with fifty members in fifteen secondary schools and four tertiary institutions in the Southwest zone of Nigeria.

Mrs. Omosanya said the NGO would further broaden its interventions in 2020 to better reposition youths for development in the zone.

Thirteen members of staff of the News Department of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, have received awards for their outstanding performances in the year 2019 from the News Management.

Radio Nigeria correspondent reports that the awardees were drawn from various stations across the Southwest Zone of the FRCN.

In a remark, Zonal Director, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Mohammed Bello urged them to see the awards as a challenge to perform better in the New Year.

Some members of staff who were given awards pledged to continually contribute their quota to move the station forward.

Also speaking, Deputy Director News, FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station, Pastor Dare Olorunfemi said the awardees were carefully selected for their outstanding performances.

The programme featured talks on how to improve on the job by the Head of News, Premier FM, Mrs. Olutola Daramola.
