It was a joyous occasion as members of Radio Nigeria Ibadan Unity Multipurpose Society gathered at Studio One, Broadcasting House, Oba Adebimpe Way, Dugbe in Ibadan to celebrate their first Annual General Meeting, AGM.

Our correspondent reports that the event was an all-white affair.

Addressing members of the society, the Acting Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi said it was high time civil and public servants stopped waiting for their retirement benefits alone but utilize the cooperative societies for their economic advancement.

Mrs. Owoyemi urged them to be prudent in spending by not buying unnecessary things.

President of the society, Mrs Olutola Daramola who could not hide her joy urged the members to continue to allow unity to reign in order to move the society to greater heights.

Highlight of the event was the sharing of dividends and gifts to members of the society.

Leadership and followership of any organisation including cooperative societies, is a collective responsibility.

A financial expert, Mr. Adedokun David stated this at a seminar organised by Radio Nigeria Ibadan Cooperative and Investment Credit Society at Studio One, Broadcasting House, Dugbe.

Mr. Adedokun said while executives of a cooperative society exist to pilot its affairs, members were also expected to fulfil their obligations, while their rights are also respected.

In another lecture, entitled “Managing difficult situation and members, and the position of law in cooperative organization”, a speaker, Reverend Tayo Adegbola said cooperative societies are not immune to challenges.

Reverend Adegbola pointed out that cooperative society must manage both cooperation and competition between members successfully.

He added that members of cooperative society should be prudent in managing loans and avoid spurious investments.

In a concluding lecture on investment opportunities, the speaker, Dr. Remi Animashaun, highlighted various businesses Radio Nigeria CICS members could key into adding that with discipline and sacrifice, success was guaranteed.

It was a moment filled with praises to God and exhortation as members of staff of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN Ibadan, converged on the Studio One, Broadcasting House for the 2021 1st working day Interreligious Thanksgiving Prayers.


Speaking at the programme, the Action Zonal Director, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mrs Bolanle Owoyemi urged FRCN staff to show more dedication and commitment to their duties to enhance productivity in all aspects of the station’s operations.


She encouraged members of staff to put God first in all their dealings in 2021.


Some members of staff appreciated God for keeping them alive and also promised to put in their best in the new year.


The programme which was held in accordance with COVID-19 protocols had in attendance members of the Committee of Management of the station, religious leaders and some senior staff members was broadcast via Zoom to enable staff members working from home participate in it.

As part of efforts toward broadening the horizon of young minds and raising the aspirations of students, the pupils of Police Children School 3, Iyaganku, Ibadan have embarked on an excursion to the Broadcasting House of Radio Nigeria, Dugbe, Ibadan.

The pupils were not only exposed to various processes involved in the transmission of news and programmes of Radio Nigeria but also saw facilities such as the live and recording studios, audio consoles, microphones, and lots of other facilities.

Speaking on the rationale behind the excursion, the school’s Assistant Head Teacher, Academics, Mrs Evelyn Anunukem said the exercise was meant to expose the pupils to areas of interest in carrier choice and development.

Mrs Anunukem who said learning should not be limited to the classroom alone however urged parents and school’s administrators to undertake excursions regularly to expose the pupils to occupational realities in order to motivate them.    

Some of the pupils expressed delight for the exposure given them.

They, however, appealed to the management of the school to sustain the programme for the benefit of the students.
