Dignitaries from all walks of life converged on Ibadan for the launch of a book titled “Grace Unabounded, My Life, My Service” written by the former president, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII, Chief Bayo Oyero.

The book which is the autobiography of Chief Oyero focused on the career experiences and contributions of the writer to Ibadanland.

Reviewing the book, pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Caleb University Imota, Ikorodu, Professor Rotimi Tayo, said the book, with four chapters and four hundred and twenty-six pages, gave details of Chief Oyero’s plights and achievements in his career.

Chairman on the occasion, former Pro-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Engineer Wale Babalakin who was thrilled by the insightful delivery of the book, said the content called for a rethink on the collapsing structure of education in the country.

In a remark, the Aare Mayegun of Ibadanland and former President-General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII, Chief Adebayo Oyero explained that the book showcases reasons government should prioritize civil service which he described as the engine room of any government.

Dignitaries at the book launch included a two-time Minister of Industry, Chief Mrs. Onikepo Akande, Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor, Mr. Segun Ogunwuyi, present and past executives of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, the Olubadan-in-Council, captains of industries and members of the academia.

Special thanksgiving service amidst singing and dancing has been held at Molete Baptist Church, Challenge, Ibadan by family and well wishers of the newly elected executive members of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII.

In company of the CCII President General, Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga was his predecessor, Chief Yemi Soladoye and other eminent personalities of Ibadan extraction home and abroad.

In his admonition, the Minister in charge of Molete Baptist Church, Reverend Edward Alabi, charged the new President General to lead with the fear of God by seeking for His wisdom, knowledge and understanding just like the biblical Solomon.

Reverend Alabi, who prayed for successful tenure of office for Prince Oluyemi Adeaga, commended the leadership prowess of the past executive of Chief Soladoye and as well congratulated them on successful election.

Speaking earlier, Chief Yemi Soladoye said the CCII received the blessing of Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, who believed in the power of God to go to Mosque and Church first for thanksgiving before ending it in his palace later in the week.

Chief Yemi Soladoye appreciated God for being his guide and helps during his tenure of office and prayed that He shall as well abide with the new Executive of Prince Adeaga.

The new Executive led by Prince Oluwayemi Adeaga was elected last Friday for tenure of two years.

Prince Oluwayemi Adeaga of Baale Opadere dynasty of Ibadanland has been as elected President General of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII

Prince Adeaga a retired civil servant and businessman polled a total vote of fifty-eight to defeat his opponent Chief Waheed Ekun, The Agbaakin Mayegun of Ibadanland, who scored thirty-five.

The emergence of Prince Adeaga sparked wild jubilation among the delegates who are from the ninety-nine clubs which participated in the election exercise.

In an interview, The CCII President-General elect, Prince Oluwayemi Adeaga promised to unite all Ibadan indigenes and push for all round development of the ancient city.

Also elected were Dr. Tirimisiyu Oladimeji as Vice President- One, while Bukola Adigun emerged the Publicity Secretary

In their separate reactions, some of the indigenes including Mr. Olusegun Abatan, Mr. Olatunji Oladejo and Dr. Oluwatunmise Adeagbo, who adjudged the election as free and fair, urged the President-General elect and his team to focus on the unity among indigenes, security of Ibadan neighborhood and the completion of Olubadan Palace.

It is often said that sweet is the memory of the righteous while the good that men do live after them.

These maxims came to the fore at Late Chief Areoye Oyebola’s house, Dikat, Ringroad Ibadan as renowned traditional rulers in Ibadan, legal practitioners, religious leaders, families and friends converged to hold funeral wake for the late veteran journalist.

In their separate tributes, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Niyi Akintola, former Director, New Media, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Pastor Dare Olorunfemi and representatives of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII, described Late Areoye Oyebola as a genius, diligent, lovers of peace, people and national development.

Other members of alumni association and institutions to whom Chief Areoye Oyebola belonged emphasized the need for Nigerians to emulate sincere commitment to the nation as well as uphold truth as demonstrated by the late editor of the defunct Nigerian Daily Times and president of the Nigerian Guild of Editors.

In his sermon, a clergy at Saint Paul’s Anglican Church, Yemetu who is also former secretary, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Oyo State Chapter, Canon Dr Segun Babatunde implored the congregation to be mindful of their actions as they would give account of their deeds on the day of reckoning.

Speaking on behalf of the children, a daughter of Late Areoye Oyebola, Mrs Abimbola Oyebola said her father was a loving man who valued education and discipline.

Late Oyebola was a Commissioner for Home Affairs and Iinformation of old Western Region, Oyo State Commissioner for Local Government and Information, and founder of Ibadan Action Council.

He was also the Ekerin Balogun Bobajiroro of Ibadanland and Awise of Ayeteland.

The former president of League of Veteran Journalists, Oyo State Council died at the age of 84.

Reactions have continued to trail the death of a foremost industrialist, the Parakoyi of Ibadan land Chief Bode Akindele.

Aged 87, Chief Akindele died in the early hours of Monday.

Chief Bode Akindele, was a successful philanthropist who established Aramed medical Centre along Lagos Ibadan express way among other businesses.

Until his death, the Ibadan born statesman, Sir Akindele was a friend of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station.

First to react to the death was the Olubadan Oba Saliu Adetunji who spoke through his media aide, Adeola Oloko.

Oba Adetunji described the role of the deceased in the economic development Oyo state as pivotal.

President General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, Chief Yemi Soladoye expressed the sadness that sir Akindele was the seventh Ibadan indigene who passed on in recent time.

Chief Soladoye said the deceased was a pride of Ibadan.

Pastor Tunji Agboola had a great relationship with the deceased who he described him as a man who lied to lift others up.

Reacting, the Zonal Director FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Mohammed Bello said the deceased was a friend of FRCN who was keen about human emancipation.

Chief Bode Akindele was an Ibadan born industrialist who impacted his generation.
