Living in love, harmony, and with high sense of security are part of the responsibilities of the government and the governed, as we celebrate the yuletide.

This is the heart of Governor Seyi Makinde to the people of Oyo State.

According to Governor Makinde, Christmas is a season of love, with Christ’s birth as the essence of the festival, thus Christians must show love to others and live at peace in line with the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.

He counseled residents of the state to pay close attention to their environment as they go about celebrating the yuletide.

The Governor enjoined them to report suspicious movements to security agencies through the Citizen Emergency Number, 615, saying that the principle, “if you see something, say something” remains in force”.

“This is to wish our Christian brethren and, indeed, all residents of Oyo State and Nigeria a Merry Christmas’’.

“Christmas, as we all know, symbolises love as exemplified by the miraculous but humble birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, thus we must live the message and the essence of the festival’’.

“Let me also use the opportunity to charge residents of the state to be vigilant and observant as they go about merrying. As a government, we have been up to the task in terms of securing the state but there is still a role for residents to play. This is why we always say that if you see something, say something and your government will do something.

“The Oyo State Citizen Emergency Number 615 is active, please call to report any emergency or suspicion of criminality and our rapid response system will be activated to bring the situation under check.”

Family & Relationship

It may look so chaotic at the moment, the pressures of life may be mounting, and the atmosphere may be tension soaked with the daily queues at the Automated Teller  Machines, ATMs and Filling Stations being energy-sapping and time-draining.

But in all of these, one thing remains unconquerable and that is, LOVE.

It’s a voice that cannot be silenced and a power that cannot be defeated.

It gives strength and whispers hope.

The fire of love keeps burning, a river that keeps flowing, a fountain that never dries.

It’s the only fire that never destroys but builds, L O V E.

It shines in the darkest moments, reaching out to the soul, calming the nerves, soothing the pains, wiping the tears, and making life worth living.

“Love is real, love exists, love is beautiful” are the words of a  Relationship Expert and popular radio presenter of a  love and relationship programme, ‘Heart To Heart’, ‘Dayo Adenuga.

Despite all, of these, claiming to love someone isn’t always enough to keep the relationship with such a person.

‘Dayo Adenuga puts it this way in one of his love shows, saying ”I love you is not enough”, saying, “I love you is not commitment”. It takes the two to make it work.

As beautiful as love is, it is not immune to conflicts or disagreement as some may think.

According to a relationship coach, Adetutu Oshofowora, Conflicts are a normal part of a healthy relationship.

What however determines whether the conflict will make or mar a relationship depends on how the parties handle it.

Today,  the world remembers the heroic deeds of the legendary, St Valentine, who was said to have given his life in the pursuit of  uniting lovers as a way of saving the lives of young men  from fighting in a tyrant’s war,

The town may not be painted in the usual celebratory red, the bouquet may not be delivered, chocolates may not be bought in their usual volume, and special treats may not be offered.

There comes the question, is there really love without any giving?

To understand love better, ‘Dayo Adenuga says “it takes knowing God”.

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY.

An ancient man and woman have been found locked in a loving embrace for 3,000 years in a grave in Ukraine.

The woman was willingly entombed alive in order to accompany her husband to the next world, archeologists believe.

Autopsy experts say it would not be possible to place the woman’s body in such a loving position if she was already dead.

The experts say it is likely the woman chose to die and be buried with her husband. They believe she may have drunk poison as she climbed into the grave and embraced her recently dead partner.

The extraordinary burial saw the couple clasped together since the Bronze Age in eternal love.

The pair, from the prehistoric Vysotskaya – or Wysocko – Culture were found near Petrykiv village, south of the city of Ternopil in western Ukraine.

Professor Mykola Bandrivsky – who conducted a study of ‘loving couple burials’ – said: ‘It is a unique burial, a man and a woman lying there, hugging each other tight.

‘Both faces were gazing at each other, their foreheads were touching.
‘The woman was lying on her back, with her right arm she was tenderly hugging the man, her wrist lying on his right shoulder.

The legs of the woman were bent at the knees – lying on the top of the men’s stretched legs.
‘Both the dead humans were clad in bronze decorations, and near the heads was placed some pottery items – a bowl, a jar and three bailers.’

Christians have been reminded to love their neighbours unconditionally and assist them in times of need.
A cleric, Pastor John Goody stated this during a sermon in Ibadan.
Pastor goody noted that good deeds were necessary before seeking the face of god on personal matters.
Pastor goody opined that a selfless life as exemplified by jesus indicates that one has a good relationship with god.
The cleric also called on political office holders to put the interest of the masses as top priority.
