The Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, OSHA, Mr. Timothy Owoeye, has congratulated Muslims across the state and Nigeria over the successful completion of Ramadan.

Mr. Owoeye in a statement by his media aide, Mr. Kunle Alabi urged them to continue with the significance of the Holy month which teaches them to practice self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, and empathy for those who are less privileged in society. 

He urged Muslims and Nigerians to use the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr to pray for peace and prosperity in the country.

Mr. Owoeye emphasized the need for Nigerians to sustain the peace, progress, and stability of the state and nation to pave way for another phase of the transition of power from one president to another.

The speaker said, “Having observed strictly the injunctions of Almighty Allah through fasting and prayers and by offering Zakat, the lessons learned during the period should not be lost, rather they should be part of the daily lives of the true Muslim in his dealings with fellow Muslims and people of other faith”.

“Let us remain strong in our hope that Nigeria will become what we fervently pray for it to be positively, a nation that fills its citizens with happiness and pride”.

“Every true Muslim feels the joy of the month by participating in the Ramadan fast, which is a key obligation in Islam. May Almighty Allah, therefore, reward us for the spiritual exercise and grant our wishes for families and dear country”.

Governor Ademola Adeleke has commended the excellent partnership between the two arms of government as he hosted the Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Timothy Owoeye at his Ede country home. 

A statement by the Governor Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed says the meeting had in attendance top leaders on both sides of the government. 

Speaking at the meeting, the Governor described the legislature as a critical arm of government which plays important role in the efforts to deliver good governance, accountability and leadership transparency. 

The Governor who said as a man with a passion for the legislature restated his readiness to work closely with the legislature to deliver on his five-point agenda and take Osun state to a greater height. 

Responding, Speaker, Mr. Timothy Owoeye assured the Governor of the legislature’s support to deliver on its promises to the people of the state.

Osun State Appropriation Bill 2023 of #136 billion submitted to the State House of Assembly on the 29th of September by the executive arm of government scaled through the second reading on the floor of the Assembly.

The Speaker of the House, Mr Timothy Owoeye stated that the budget estimate for 2023 had gone through some considerations at the parliamentary processes where it was agreed to be brought to the floor for the policy trust and second reading.

The 2023 Appropriation Bill named “Budget of Consolidation” has #96,377,740,930 for Recurrent Expenditure while capital expenditure has #39,888,247,710 making a total of #136,265,988,140.

Mr Owoeye stated that the 2023 estimate is about #6,509Billion higher than 2022 quoting Governor Oyetola as saying that the performance of the current budget indicated that the government needed to be more pragmatic, proactive and aggressive in its internally Generated Revenue drive.

The Speaker directed that all ministries, departments and Agencies of government including tertiary institutions should submit 35 copies of their draft budget to the House on or before Friday the 28th of October for further consideration.

He also urged the House Committee on Rules and Business to meet with the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation to work out a timetable for the appearance of Agencies and consideration of the submitted draft budget.

Speaking on the mode of transmission of the 2023 budget, The Chairman House committee on Information, Mr Kunle Akande explained that the Governor acted in line with the rules and guidelines of the State House of Assembly.

Some Honorable members who took their turns to speak called for Accelerated passage of the Appropriation Bill.

Also, Osun State Examination Board 2022 and the Bill to change Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, LAUTECH in Osogbo to the University of Osun Teaching Hospital scaled through its second reading.

Christians have been urged to use the occasion of Easter to strive to sustain the love, peace and unity of the Nation as elections approaches.

The Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Timothy Owoeye made the call in a statement by his media aide, Mr Kunle Alabi.

Mr Owoeye said there shouldn’t be any sacrifice too big for the peace, development and unity of Nigeria as shown by the love of Christ Jesus to the world.

While condemning the increasing cases of domestic violence and battering that is on the increase across the nation, The Speaker stressed the need for  Nigerians  to support government to contain issues of domestic violence, banditry and terrorism.

He also urged members of the Public to report  People  with doubtful characters to law enforcement agencies.

Quoting from 2 Corinthians 4:17-18, the Speaker said, “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

The statement quoted in part, “We should let the significance of Easter reflect in our relationship with one another. There is no price too much for a true Nigerian to pay for the peace of the land, we must love one another irrespective of our tribe as exemplified by Christ.

“We must not put everything at the doors of our leaders, we as citizens must strive for a better, peaceful country that we can all call our own.

“If we love one another, elections will not be seen as a do-or-die affair but a process that must bring change and developments to our communities.

“The peace and unity of the country is not negotiable as we inch into elections, we must all be  disposed to actions that will bring about free and fair election, going forward, we will all have good leadership of our desire”.

Osun State Environmental Protection Bill scales through second reading.

The Osun State Environmental Protection Bill 2021 has scaled through its second reading.

The bill when passed into law will curb the spread of diseases, maintain proper hygiene, help identify Environmental issues, restore sanity into the Environment and source revenue generation to the State.

Member representing Irewole/Isokan Mr Marouf Olanrewaju moved the motion for the bill to enter its second reading and was seconded by Member representing Ife South LGA, Mr Benjamin Ogundipe who doubles as chairman house committee on Environment.

After series of recommendations on the bill by members of the house, they called for accelerated passage of the bill.

In a remark, The Speaker of the House, Mr Timothy Owoeye who presided over the plenary said the Bill when passed into law would put a stop to the erratic installations of mast in the State.

Mr Owoeye who stressed that the bill will help attain a tidy environment across the state, noted that it would regulate irregular dumping of refuse in the State.

The House of Assembly also confirmed the Osun State Civil Service Commission nominees of the State Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, which has Mr Babafemi Osunro as the chairman of the commission.

The Speaker, Mr Owoeye also appreciated all the women in Osun state and across the world on the occasion of international women’s day holding tomorrow and advised them to continue to exhibit good qualities and show love to one another.

Osun State Government has reiterated its resolve to improve the economic status of residents especially the youth through continuous empowerment programmes.

The state governor, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola gave the assurance during a multidimensional empowerment programme organized by the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Mr Timothy Owoeye, held at Ilesa Grammar School, Ilesa.

The Speaker, Osun House of Assembly, Mr. Timothy Owoeye says there must be a mechanism in place for state to boost revenue generation.

Mr. Owoeye stated this during the Osun State 2022 Budget Discussion with Ministry of Economy & Budget Planning, Ministry of Finance, Procurement Office, Accountant General Office, Debt Management Office and Osun Internal Revenue Service at the House of Assembly, Oshogbo.

The Speaker noted that some measures need to be put in place for the State to attain a better Economy position.

He advised the Ministries Departments and Agencies of government to generate more revenue besides Pay As You Earn tax, PAYE.

Mr. Owoeye also urged the Osun Internal Revenue Service to intensify efforts to increase revenue generation as well as block all loopholes where revenues are stolen.

In their remarks, some lawmakers enjoined the Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning to make room for quarterly interaction and not to wait till end of the year.

Earlier, the leader of the team and Commissioner for Economy and Budget Planning, Professor Olalekan Yinusa had said that the state government under is more concerned and committed to  ensure proper implementation of the budget in the state.

Professor Yinusa who noted that the State achieved 87% budget performance in 2020, 97% budget performance in 2021, observed that there was no basis to increase tax against people in the state.

The Osun State Universal Basic Education Amendment Bill 2021 has scaled through the second reading on the floor of the Osun State House of Assembly.

This follows a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Mr. Maruf Olanrewaju and seconded by the member representing Egbedore State Constituency, Mr. Babatunde Ibirogba.

Earlier, reading the policy thrust of the bill, the Majority Leader, Mr. Maruf Olanrewaju noted that the passage of the bill would ensure the harmonisation of Universal Basic Education Law across the country.

Mr. Olanrewaju said the bill would enhance the productivity of the board members and staff of the board at the state and local government levels.

Also, the chairman, House Committee on Education, Mr. Babatunde Ibirogba maintained that the bill would ensure that all children have access to basic education.

In his remark, the speaker, Mr. Timothy Owoeye urged members to study the bill and come up with submissions to deliberate upon at the Committee of the Whole during the consideration of the bill.

The Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, OSHA, Mr. Timothy Owoeye says the Assembly would be fully autonomous from January 2022 as the committee for its startup has already been set up.

Mr. Owoeye, who was speaking at the budget defence exercise organised for the state Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), at the state assembly, said the state “Assembly Autonomous Bill” has already been signed into law by the state governor.  

The speaker noted that Governor Gboyega Oyetola, is committed to giving the assembly autonomy, but for some administrative bottleneck that is still serving as an impediment to having a full-fledged autonomy.

He pointed out that the Assembly would be starting full-fledged autonomy next year which means it won’t have to take its files, financial demands, expenditure and salaries to the governor for approval again.

Mr. Owoeye later commended his colleagues for the successful budget defence exercise, adding that the autonomy of the assembly, however, does not translate to more money for them.

The Majority Leader of the House, Mr. Moruf Olanrewaju, later presented the sum of N1.9 billion as the budget of the state Assembly for 2022.

The Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, OSHA, Mr. Timothy Owoeye has identified prayers as the solution to the challenges being faced by the country.

Mr. Owoeye who stated this at the special interreligious quarterly prayer by the House of Assembly said the 1999 constitution of Nigeria as amended gave room for religious gatherings.

He maintained that the consistent prayer meeting by the lawmakers and staff has brought a peaceful atmosphere to the Assembly.

Earlier, the Chief Imam of Osun House of Assembly Mosque, Abdulfatah Adebisi in his message said prayer is very important for individuals to live a fulfilled life.

Also, the Chaplain of the House of Assembly Church, Pastor Muyiwa Ayeni in a short exhortation, noted that prayer can deliver Nigeria from all calamities ravaging the country.

Prayers were offered to God for peace and tranquillity in the House, Osun State and Nigeria.

The Osun State House of Assembly, OSHA, says heads of revenue-generating agencies who failed to appear for the defence of their budget for the 2022 fiscal year will get zero allocation.

The Speaker, Mr. Timothy Owoeye stated this while declaring open 2022 Budget defence by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies in the state before the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation exercise.

He said the Assembly would be thorough in the consideration of budget proposals presented by Ministries and Agencies of Government.

The Speaker advised Ministries and Agencies to improve on their Internally Generated Revenue drive by looking inward as well as blocking all revenue leakages and loopholes within their jurisdiction.

He urged residents and business owners in Osun State to ensure timely payment of taxes and levies which he noted would lessen the stress of funding of budget.

Earlier, the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriations, Mr. Taiwo Olodo said the Assembly is set to help the MDAs improve on their services, so as to enable them to generate more revenue for the state government, asking them to table their challenges and constraints before the committee.

Commissioner for Education, Mr. Folorunso Oladoyin led the Ministry of Education and five agencies of government to appear before the joint House committees of Finance and Appropriations and House Committee on Education, to present their year 2022 budget estimates.

Osun State Governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola has presented the 2022 budget estimate of 129.8 billion naira to the State House of Assembly.

Our Correspondent reports that the budget christened “Budget of Sustainable Development” was to consolidate on various developmental projects in all sectors.

The 2022 budget estimates was higher than the year 2021 budget of 109.8 billion naira by 20 billion naira.

The Budget estimates of 129.8 billion naira has as Capital expenditure of 76.2 billion naira, representing 58.70% while 53.6 billion naira representing 41.3% was earmarked for Recurrent expenditure.

Education sector is to take the larger percentage of the the budget which is 26.billion naira while Infrastructure and Health sectors had 19 billion naira and 16 billion naira respectively.

Governor Oyetola explained that the budget would be funded mainly by Revenue from Internally Generated by the state, Federal allocation, Aids and Grants as well as other Capital Receipt.

The Governor who noted that Internally Generated Revenue is crucial to a realistic budget, said the state government would lay emphasis on capital projects especially physical infrastructure to encourage investors.

Earlier, the Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Timothy Owoeye had assured that the House would pass a budget estimates that would prioritise the need of the people and guarantee their better welfare.

The Speaker while calling for strengthening of Osun Internal Revenue Service capacity to increase Revenue generation urged the people of the state to pay their tax accurately and timely.

Mr. Owoeye said the State House of Assembly would continue to embark on effective monitoring and oversight to ensure proper to implementation of the 2022 budget.

The Osun House of Assembly, OSHA, is to receive the state’s budget estimate for 2022.

This is contained in a letter sent to the assembly by the governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola and read by the Speaker, Mr. Timothy Owoeye during the plenary.

Governor Oyetola is expected to lay the 2022 budget estimate before the assembly on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.

Under the Matter of Urgent Public Importance, the lawmaker representing Ejigbo State Constituency, Mr. Israel Oyekunle brought to the notice of the House the fire incident that occurred at Secretariat of Ejigbo South Local Government Development Area, Ilawo which destroyed local government property.

The House advised people to be careful when using electrical appliances at home and government offices.

Meanwhile, the Speaker, Mr. Timothy Owoeye has assured pensioners under the Contributory Scheme in the state that their 30 months half-salary arrears would be paid in due course. Mr. Owoeye gave the assurance while addressing the pensioners who came to House of Assembly Complex, Osogbo to register their grievances.

While appreciating the manner in which the retirees registered their grievances, the speaker, said the House would take necessary steps to address their issue.

He noted that the present administration has the interest of the retirees in mind, assuring them that he will meet the state governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola by next week on their issue and promised a positive result concerning the payment of their 30 months arrears.

The Osun State House of Assembly, OSHA, has received the Economic and Fiscal Update, Fiscal Strategy Paper and Budget Policy Statement from the Governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola.

The Speaker, Mr. Timothy Owoeye during the Plenary, explained that the paper is a review of the last budget performance of the state.

He noted that the paper would provide information on budget process for year 2022 to year 2024.

While commending the lawmakers’ performance at the last budget retreat, the speaker urged his colleagues to make use of knowledge acquired during the retreat to prepare for the forthcoming year’s budget.

He said the fiscal paper was in compliance with Appropriation Law of 2012 which mandated the Ministry of Finance to do the midterm review of budget in the fiscal year.

Mr. Owoeye urged the lawmakers to study the paper and come up with the needful points to work on during the next deliberation.

He then committed the paper to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation to give the House full report on the paper.

The speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, OSHA, Mr. Timothy Owoeye wants the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, to beef up security within the state against killer herdsmen.

The speaker made the call when member representing Ifedayo State Constituency, Mrs. Adenike Abioye raised the issue of the attack by herdsmen on the people of Ora in Ifedayo Local Government Area of the state.

Mr. Owoeye also enjoined the Commissioner of Police to provide utility vehicles for easy operations and patrol of officers in Ifedayo Local Government Area.

Similarly, the speaker has directed the Ministry of Environment to continue dredging of waterways in the state to reduce flooding.

Mr. Owoeye also warned residents dumping of refuse on water channels to desist from it as it has wreaked havoc to residents and market women.

In another development, the Osun State Animal Gracing Regulation and Cattle Ranches Establishment Bill 2021 has passed through the second reading on the floor of the Osun State House of Assembly.

Reading the policy thrust of the bill, the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Mr. Kunle Akande, said the bill when passed would seek to regulate activities of herdsmen and encourage arable farming.

Some of the lawmakers in their contributions, called for the speedy passage of the bill saying it would boost the economy of the state through Agriculture.

The speaker, Mr. Timothy Owoeye, in his remark, explained that the bill when passed would curb clashes between farmers and herdsmen as well as regulate activities of herdsmen in the state.

Osun State Animal Grazing Regulation and Cattle Ranches Establishment Bill 2021 has passed through the first reading on the floor of the Osun House of Assembly.

The Bill sent from the state Governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, seek to regulate and prohibit criminal activities of herdsmen.

Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Timothy Owoeye while reading the letter accompanying the bill titled “Osun Animal Gracing Regulation and Cattle Ranches Establishment Bill 2021” explained that the bill seeks to curb clashes between farmers and herdsmen in the state, especially in the rural areas.

The Bill according to the Governor is to regulate activities of herdsmen in the state and curb criminality, including rape, carried out by some of them.

The Bill is classified under “Matter of Urgent Public Importance” as the Governor is requesting that it is given accelerated passage.

The House later dissolved into the Committee of the Whole to treat a pending bill “Violence Against Persons Prohibition Bill 2020”.

Speaker, Osun House of Assembly, Mr. Timothy Owoeye has urged Muslim faithful to uphold their obedience to Allah in the Spirit of forgiveness for one another.

The Speaker in a statement by his Press Secretary, Mr. Kunle Alabi, to commemorate Eid-el-kabir, charged Muslims to expand their spiritual benefits of the occasion by promoting peaceful co-existence with each other and people of other faiths and shun violence and religious conflicts in whatever form.

Mr. Owoeye admonished the faithful to imbibe the Spirit of sacrifice which Prophet Ibrahim and his son Ismael exemplified.

He added that adherents of Islam should imbibe the lessons of commitment, dedication and obedience to higher authority as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to the will of God which Eid-el-kabir commemorates.

The Speaker said, Political leaders and followers, religious and adherent’s, must come together to forge a harmonious relationship for the love of their country. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) established it that the love of one’s country is a very essential part of faith.

The Osun State House of Assembly, OSHA, has stepped down the names of a chairman and two councilor nominee during the screening of Local Government caretaker nominees.

Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Timothy Owoeye during the screening exercise stepped down the name of the chairman nominee for Olaoluwa Local Government for attacking member representing Olaoluwa State Constituency during a protest.

Mr. Owoeye who maintained that the Assembly would not condone violent acts by political office holders, said he would write to the governor to replace the nominee.

Also, two councilor nominees from Ifedayo Local Government were stepped down.

The Speaker, however, stressed that only caretaker Nominees who presented their tax clearance to the Assembly would be confirmed.

Mr. Owoeye also commended his colleagues for their contributions during the screening despite closing late yesterday at 7:30pm.

10 Local government, 11 Local Council Development Area, LCDA, and 4 Area Council nominees were screen on the floor of the Osun State House of Assembly in Osogbo, Osun State. 

Meanwhile, the Speaker commiserated with the family of the local security agent who died during the search and rescue operation launched to rescue the abducted passengers in Obokun Local Government Area of the state.

While selecting lawmakers to pay a condolence visit to the family of the deceased, the speaker appreciated the local security outfit for their determination and patriotism.

The Osun State House of Assembly, OSHA, has commenced the screening of Local Government and LCDAs Caretaker nominees sent by the governor on July 1st.

Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Secretaries and Councillors from 13 Local Government, 12 LCDAs, 3 Area Council and one Area Office were screened on Tuesday on the floor of the House of Assembly.

The exercise was intensive with screening of each nominee’s curriculum vitae and questions on innovative ideas the nominees intend to bring on board to develop their local government.

Lawmakers representing each state constituency of the local government, LCDAs, Area Council & Area Office confirmed the names of the caretaker nominees that were screened at the floor of the House.

In his remarks, the speaker, Mr. Timothy Owoeye charged the nominees not to divide the party or create factions in the local government.

Mr. Owoeye advised the nominees to get their tax clearance by Friday before they can be confirmed.

The plenary was held amidst tight security, with many stakeholders, including observers and party supporters, shut out of the chamber while the plenary lasted.

The Osun State House of Assembly has read the list of Local Government Chairmen, Vice- Chairmen, Secretaries and Councillors across the State.

Reading the letter during the plenary, the Speaker, Mr. Timothy Owoeye advised the Caretaker Committee to work on developing the state.
The Speaker advised that, the Paramount objectives of everyone should be the interest of the state and the party.
However, some names of Chairmen, Vice-Chairmen and Secretaries of few Local government, Local Council Development Areas, LCDA and Area Office were stepped down.
Ejigbo West LCDA and Oriade LG Chairman while Ife Central LG and Ife-West Vice-Chairmen were stepped down
Also, Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary of Egbedore Area office were stepped down.
The Speaker said names stepped down of affected Local government would be resend to the House of Assembly.
The Speaker, therefore directed the nominees to submit 35 copies of their credentials to the House of Assembly latest by Monday next week while the date for screening would be announced later.

The speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, OSHA, Mr. Timothy Owoeye, says the vision of the founding fathers of Nigeria shall not be in vain in spite of the recent insecurity challenges.

The speaker in a statement by his Media Aide, Mr Kunle Alabi to commemorate Nigeria’s Democracy Day called on all lovers of peace and freedom to rise against insecurity, a menace that is eaten deep in almost every part of the country.

He admonished people fanning the embers of discord to have a rethink, saying an unsecured atmosphere has nothing good to offer other than economic regression, environmental problems and conflict in the social structure.

Mr. Owoeye stressed that a country envisioned by the founding fathers is possible if Nigerians are patriotic, and politicians go into politics with the mindset to serve with all sincerity.

The speaker urged Nigerians to stand up in support of one indivisible country where all tribes and ethnic groups will flourish and attain its potentials.

The Speaker, Osun House of Assembly, Mr. Timothy Owoeye has called for promotion of love and peace among the civil servants.

Mr. Owoeye made the call during the state Assembly’s “inter-religious prayer and thanksgiving progamme”, to usher in a new legislative year.

The Speaker noted that where love exists, there would be peace and harmony, urging the staff of the Assembly to love one another and eschew pull-him-down syndrome that is known among workers.

He stated that the peaceful co-existence among the lawmakers was what made their work smooth and easy, which created congenial atmosphere for the government of the state to perform. 

The Speaker thanked and appreciated his colleagues and staff of the Assembly for their support during the past year which he said was what made the Assembly and state peaceful.

Parents have been urged to collaborate with teachers in instilling moral virtues in their children. 

The Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Timothy Owoeye made the call during plenary session in his congratulatory message to mark the “World Teachers’ Day”.

Mr. Owoeye who noted that teachers play major role in moulding lives of individual from childhood said parents should not neglect their duty of proper upbringing of their children at home.

He commended teachers for their efforts in educating and moulding lives of individuals in every field of study which has helped in building the society.

The Speaker advised Federal and State governments to enhance the Education sector and the welfare of Teachers.

The House later dissolved into Committee of the Whole for consideration of the Osun State Judiciary Fund Management Bill 2020 after a motion moved by Majority Leader Mr. Maruf Olanrewaju and seconded by member representing Olaoluwa state constituency, Mr. Adirulahi Adgbile.

The Lawmakers during the Committee of the Whole made amendment and correction to clauses 3 to 11 while the amendment and corrections made form part of the bill.

The Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, OSHA, Mr Timothy Owoeye says the antidote to youths’ restiveness and unemployment remains skills acquisition.

The Speaker stated this during the turning of the sod for the foundation laying of a workshop building which he donated to Federal Science and Technology College in Ilesha.

Mr. Owoeye who commended the management of the school for allowing him to donate the building, emphasised the importance of science and technology to the survival of any economy and how it can create avenue for employment.

He pointed out that unemployment has been a major problem bedeviling the lives of Nigerian youths, causing increased militancy, kidnapping, unrest, socially delinquent behaviours and other social vices.

The speaker, however, called on government at all levels to urgently fund technical schools, as a way to relieve the burden of unemployment, crime and poverty.

The School’s Director of Principals, Mrs. Idowu Akinbamijo, commended the speaker for the donation of the workshop building saying the building is another milestone in the history of the school.

Mrs. Akinbamijo said the building would boost the academic prowess of the students and it would be very useful in technical education and training for the students.

Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Timothy Owoeye has commended staff and students of schools across the state for their level of compliance with COVID-19 rules and regulations as schools resumed.

Mr. Owoeye gave the commendation while addressing Journalists after a two-day on the spot assessment tour to schools in Ijesa South Federal Constituency of the state.

He explained that the assessment tour became necessary to ensure that state government efforts to prevent spread of Coronavirus was not wasted.

The Speaker advised the pupils to make use of their face mask, sanitizer and ensure regular hand washing as measure to put an end to COVID-19 pandemic.

He also urged schools management to clear and fumigate their surroundings often for a healthy environment for learning for both students and staff.

Some of the schools visited include Atakumosa High School Osu, Ifewara Community Government School, Iwara Community High School Iwara, Community Secondary School Iperindo, St. Peter’s Elementary School Isona Ilesa, Ilesa Government High School Ilesa and Local Authority Elementary School Imo Ilesa.
In a Related Development, Mr. Owoeye urged the contractor handling reconstruction of Atakumosa Modern Market in Ilesa to double up efforts to deliver the job on time.

He made the call during unscheduled visit to the site of the market in Ilesa.

The speaker urged the contractor to make use of quality and standard materials that could stand the test of time for the building construction.

Responding,The Contractor handling the Atakumosa Modern Market project, Mr. Sina Odeleye pointed out that the new structures in the market would accommodate more shops in the market promising to deliver the job on time.
