Ogun State government has denied receiving the sum of 37 billion naira from the Federal Government, as reimbursement of expenses on road projects carried out by the immediate past administration in the State.

The Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo stated this while reacting to online story that Governor Abiodun-led administration had received 37 billion naira from the Federal Government as expenses on Federal Road projects.

Mr Okubadejo explained that the immediate past administration had processed and received the said amount before the current administration came on board, adding that all efforts by the present administration to recover further road refunds from the Federal Government had not materialised.

He pointed out that the amount was paid in two tranches of federal government Treasury Note instruments of 15 billion naira and 22 billion naira respectively.

Mr Okubadejo noted that the first Treasury Note of 15 billion naira issued in December 2018 was discounted in January 2019 for 10 billion naira, while the second Treasury Note of 22 billion naira was discounted for 17 billion naira during the first quarter of 2019, thereby resulting in total financial charges of about 10 billion naira incurred by the State.
