The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has trained over two hundred match commissioners ahead of the 2023/24 Nigeria National League, NNL, Nationwide League One, NLO, and Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, season.

The training held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, had participants from the 18 southern states of the country.

Declaring the event open, the Chairman, NFF Match Commissioners Committee, Alhaji Babagana Kalli asserted that the football body would not condone any form of negligence from the match commissioners.

Alhaji Babagana who emphasized the importance of ensuring that match commissioners fulfill their roles effectively, expressed the committee’s commitment to preventing any laxity in their performance, citing past instances that have hindered their operations.

He stressed the need for each match commissioner to maintain consciousness regarding their responsibilities and execute their assignments diligently. 

Alhaji Kalli noted that the committee was prepared to impose sanctions on any commissioners found negligent in their duties.

The NFF executive member, who is also the Chairman, Ogun State Football Association, Alhaji Ganiu Majekodunmi, expressed his confidence that the knowledge and insights gained from the seminar would significantly impact the upcoming football season.

Gateway United Football Club will on Sunday take on Ijebu United Football Club in the first semi-final match of the Ogun State Federation Cup.

The game according to the Chairman, Ogun State Football Association, Alhaji Ganiu Majekodunmi, will be played at the Remo Stars Stadium, in Ikenne, Ogun State, from ten O’clock in the morning.

Alhaji Majekodunmi noted that the second game which will be played simultaneously is between Nilayo Football Club and Easy Well Football Club.

The Ogun State Football Association Chairman pointed out that the games will be played behind closed doors in compliance with COVID-19 safety guidelines.

The Chairman, Ogun State Football Association, Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi has called for the support of Sports writers in the state towards ensuring sports development and progress of the association. 

Alhaji Majekodunmi who is also Executive member of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, said as partners in progress, promotion of all football related activities in the state would further enhance the reputation of the state at national events.

The FA boss assured the Sports writers of his support at ensuring SWAN members in the state partake at every football event organize by NFF. 

He expressed confidence in the new SWAN executives led by Hakeem Akintunde, urging all members of the association to support the new exco. 

Earlier, the SWAN Chairman, Alhaji Hakeem Akintunde commended the Football Association in the state for hosting various football development programmes. 

Alhaji Akintunde urged NFF to disburse the $30,000 dollars of the CAF/FIFA Covid-19 palliative for SWAN to each state chapter.
