The Oyo State Police Command has recorded a major operational success following an intelligence-led operation in Saki, Oyo State.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Olayinka Ayanlade, said police operatives intercepted a truck conveying materials suspected to be explosive devices during a routine stop-and-search operation.

The truck and the suspected items were immediately secured and taken into police custody.

The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Mr Femi Haruna, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

Specialised personnel from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Unit were subsequently deployed to safely secure the materials for forensic examination.

Police say a detailed analysis is ongoing to determine the exact nature of the items and their intended use.

The driver of the truck has been arrested and is currently cooperating with investigators, as efforts continue to unravel the circumstances surrounding the interception.

A police officer has been confirmed dead following an attack by suspected gunmen on a company’s at Ogunmakin, near Ibadan, in Oyo State.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the attackers stormed the facility in a commando-style operation, leading to a gun battle with security personnel attached to the company.

DSP Ayanlade said the police officer was fatally shot while repelling the attack, while some of the assailants were believed to have sustained gunshot injuries during the exchange of fire.

Despite the resistance, the gunmen abducted a Chinese expatriate, described as a principal officer of the company, before fleeing the scene.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Mr Femi Haruna, has directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations to deploy the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and other tactical teams to the area.

The police said bush-combing operations were ongoing, while investigations had been intensified to rescue the abducted expatriate and arrest those responsible for the attack.

In a related development, the command also announced the arrest of four suspects in connection with cases of defilement, murder, and unlawful possession of suspected human parts across the state.

DSP Ayanlade said one of the suspects, identified as Usman Azeez, was arrested in Ado-Awaye for the alleged defilement of a 14-year-old girl.

He said the suspect was currently in police custody as investigations continued.

The police spokesperson also disclosed that operatives arrested another suspect, Abdulraheem Koni, in connection with the alleged murder of his former employer, Lateef Giwa.

The case was reported at the Tede Police Division, and the suspect is presently being detained.

The statement further confirmed the arrest of another suspect over an alleged murder in Ibadan, where the victim later died from injuries sustained during an altercation.

The corpse has been deposited at the Adeoyo State Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.

The police also arrested a commercial driver along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway near Guru Maharaji Village for unlawful possession of items suspected to be human parts, recovered during a routine stop-and-search operation.

The command said investigations were ongoing in all the cases, adding that suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Operatives of Ogun State Police Command have arrested three suspects for allegedly stealing tricycles and a motorcycle in different locations in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola said in a statement in Abeokuta that the suspects, Shaibu Isah, Sunday Achiri, and Azeez Mufutaru, were apprehended following a tip-off.

She said the 21-year-old Shaibu Isah who claimed to be a resident of Ibadan, Oyo State, was arrested while trying to unchain and steal a parked motorcycle with registration number SGM 557 VQ.

The command’s spokesperson pointed out that the two other suspects were arrested while planning to steal a tricycle that was given to them on hire purchase.

She said the duo admitted to absconding with the tricycle, registered as SRA 036 UM, belonging to an individual named Precious from Mowe, with the intention of disposing of it.

The suspects, along with the recovered items, had been handed over to the Redeemed Divisional Police Officer for further investigation.

She noted that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Abiodun Alamutu advised the public to opt for smart hire purchase systems that involve trackable hirers to prevent incidents of absconding and property diversion.

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested four members of a notorious kidnap gang for allegedly terrorizing Abeokuta and its environs.

The suspects, Ismaila Ibrahim, Musa Muhammed, Irekura Abu and Okanlawon Muhammed were arrested following a series of kidnapping cases at Soyooye and Ibara Orile Area of Abeokuta.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the arrest of the suspects in Abeokuta.

Mr Oyeyemi explained that the suspects confessed to being members of a kidnap gang that abducted one Bishop Oladimeji Joshua of Prayer City, Keesan Abeokuta, and Kafayat Jelili of Ogo-Titun area of Ibara Orile on the 27th of September 2022.

He listed items recovered from the suspects including two double-barrel guns and one single-barrel long gun.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole, who commended the anti-kidnapping unit for the breakthrough has ordered that the suspects be charged in court as soon as the investigation is concluded.

Mr Bankole also directed a massive manhunt for other members of the gang who are presently on the run, with the view to bring them to justice.

Operatives of the Command attached to Toll-Gate Division received information about sporadic gunshots heard along the Dominion University end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, on Friday at about 18:35 hrs.

According to the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, in a swift response to the above, the Divisional Police Officer led a team comprising; Anti-crime patrol operatives, tactical teams, Police Mobile men and local hunters for immediate rescue and further intervention. 

While prevailing and preventing further chaos from what was evidently an abduction scenario, an officer attached to the Command paid the supreme price with one other badly injured and presently responding to treatment.

“So far, expended ammunition shells and (4) Four abandoned vehicles were retrieved at the scene”.

Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Williams psc(+)FDC has ordered full-scale scientific and technological aided investigations to unravel the events that led to the incident with the Deputy Commissioner in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department leading the charge.

In the same vein, caregivers, traditional healers and residents within and outside the scene of the shooting incident are advised to be on the lookout for gunshot victims and immediately report any strange occurrence to the Police for prompt action.

“Updates will be provided accordingly as the investigation unfolds, please”.

The dragnet of the Oyo State Police Command on Monday 7th March 2022, caught up with the duo of Abdulrazak Waliu, (male) aged 23 years and Abdulrazak Illias, (male), aged 18 years who allegedly abducted and murdered an eight-year-old minor. 

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Adewale Osifeso made this known in a statement made available to our correspondent.

The statement reads “On 5th March 2022 at about 0800hrs one Bamimore Abdulafeez ‘m’ reported that on 04/03/2022 at about 1200hrs when his twin children one Bamimore Abdulraheem ‘m’ and Bamimore Abdullahi ‘m’ returned from school, one of them named Bamimore Abdulraheem went out of the house after being lured by the duo of Abdulrazak Waliu and Abdulrazak Illias to an undisclosed location, and all effort made to see the victim proved abortive”.

It states further; “On 07/03/2022 a search party was organized and during the process, the lifeless body of the victim named Bamimore Abdulraheem ‘m’ aged 8yrs was found inside an uncompleted building at Alubarika area Saki. Upon interrogation, Abdulrasak Ilias ‘m’ and Abulrasak Hammid ‘m’ all confessed to having conspired to kidnap the victim for ransom but eventually killed him because he recognized and could identify them.

Further updates on the incident would be provided in due course as the investigation continues”. The statement concludes.

All is now set for the bye-election into the Akure North/Akure South Federal constituency in Ondo State with the distribution of sensitive materials by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC .

The election materials included ballot papers, voting results, replacement and declaration sheets, all transported to the two local governments.

During the distribution in Akure, INEC National Commissioner in charge of Southwest, Professor Kunle Ajayi, explained that the commission had deployed its personnel to ensure a credible and acceptable process.

Professor Ajayi urged eligible voters to come out enmasse and exercise their voting rights. 

Also speaking, the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Ambassador Rufus Akeju noted, that with the level of arrangements already in place by INEC, it was certain that the election would not only be free and fair but will be conclusive.

Talking about the participating political parties, the state’s Chairman of the National Rescue Movement, Mr Olajenyo Ataunoko, APC Central Senatorial Chairman, Festus Aregbesola and the PDP Akure South Agent, Mr Taiwo Akintade said they were all prepared for the bye-election.

They urged INEC and security agents to remain neutral throughout the exercise. 

Also speaking with Radio Nigeria, two of the electorate, Mrs Ibukun Adeolu and Ayo Micheal showed great enthusiasm towards the bye-election. 

Meanwhile, the police in ondo state have said adequate number of personnel had been deployed for the exercise in the two local governments of Akure South and Akure North to ensure a violence free exercise.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmi Odunlami maintained that there would be restriction of movement between eight o clock in the morning and three o clock in the afternoon within the two council areas.

 Seven political parties are participating in the bye-election which became necessary following the death of the lawmaker representing Akure North and South Federal Constituency, Mr Adedayo Omolafe in August, last year.

Unknown gunmen have reportedly killed a thirty-eight-year-old Reverend Father Luke Adeleke while he was coming from a mass on Christmas Eve in Ogun State.

It was gathered that the gunmen waylaid the cleric at Ogunmakin in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state and shot him dead.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ogun State Command, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi while confirming the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta said the incident happened at Ogunmakin and not Odeda as reported on the social media.

Mr Abimbola said the gunmen exchanged gunfire with policemen in the area before escaping with bullets wounds into the bush in the area.

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mrs Ngozi Onadeko directs Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders to clamp down on all unauthorized street carnivals which in most cases are avenues for instigating gang-related violence.

This is contained in a statement signed in Ibadan by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Adewale Osifeso.

The commissioner also warns that the ban on the use of fireworks remains valid and that the command will enforce all extant laws prohibiting its sales and usage during this Yuletide season.  

She said further that dealers, traders and suppliers of fireworks are advised against stockpiling the prohibited items and selling to ignorant minors as violators would be severely dealt with and prosecuted. 

The statement also urges parents, guardians and leaders wielding various degrees of influence in religious, educational and traditional capacities to warn their wards and protégés against violating this law as adequate sanctions would be meted out.

Osun State Police Command has cleared the air on the viral audio of the Chairman of Hilton Hotel and Resort, Ile-Ife, Dr. Ramon Adedoyin proving his innocence over the alleged ritual killing of Master of Business Administration student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Mr. Timothy Adegoke.

A statement by Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO in Osun State, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola, explains that the audio has been made before his arrest.

According to the statement, the issue of an audio recording made by Dr. Rahman Adedoyin got the police embarrassed.

Dr. Adedoyin was arrested and detained since November 15, 2021, in connection with the death of Adegoke but on November 19 an audio went viral where he was denying involvement in the death of the deceased and alleged ritual killing.

Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of two little girls and the theft of their mother’s car in Akure.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO in the state, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, told newsmen that the abduction took place on Friday night.

She said upon their return from an outing at about 8p.m., the mother parked the car in front of her house and went out to open the gates leaving the two kids in the vehicle.

According to the PPRO, another car with three occupants suddenly drove up to hers; some of the occupants collected her car keys and drove her car away with the kids still inside.

Mrs. Odunlami said the anti-kidnapping section of the police is already on the trail of the assailants to effect the rescue the two kids and recover the car.

Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mrs. Ngozi Onadeko has assured maximum security as the nation marks the 61st Independence Anniversary on Friday.

The statement notes that the Command has emplaced adequate security measures to protect the citizenry and ensure the success of all the activities lined up for the anniversary celebration to prevent any untoward situation throughout the period of the celebration and beyond. 

It states further that Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, DPOs, Heads of Tactical teams, and formations throughout the Command have been directed to lead the Independence Anniversary security operations from the frontline. 

The police commissioner says the deployed teams are to ensure high visibility and intelligence-driven patrols around the venues of the celebrations, residential areas, and other places of the public resort to prevent any infiltration by hostile elements. 

While congratulating Oyo State for yet another October 1st celebration, the police have appealed for the continuous cooperation of all and sundry with the valiant officers and men of the Command towards the crusade against crimes and criminality throughout the nooks and cranny of the state.

A policeman, Sergeant Adamu Garba, attached to the Mobile Police Unit in Osun State has been dismissed from the force.

This is consequent upon his orderly room trial and conviction for killing an Okada rider, Saheed Olabomi in Osogbo on the 27th of last month.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Osun State Command, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola made this known in a statement in Osogbo.

Mrs. Opalola stated that the dismissed Sergeant Adamu was tried for shooting the late Olabomi to death and was found guilty of the offense, hence his dismissal.

The Police spokesperson said the file of the dismissed officer would be forwarded to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for necessary directive relating to his prosecution for murder.

She said the officer was tried in the democratic police tradition which enabled to defend himself.

Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Ngozi Onadeko says the perpetrators of the dastardly attack on the premises of Radio Nigeria, Amuludun 99.1 FM, Moniya, Ibadan, would be made to face justice.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP. Adewale Osifeso concerning the attack by some hoodlums on Amuludun FM Premises which left four cars and the glass door at the entrance of the media house damaged.

Mr. Osifeso explained that preliminary investigation gathered reveal that following the face-off between members of Soludero, a local vigilante group and some criminal elements around Sasa Area, Ojo, Akinyele LGA of Oyo State while on routine patrol, on Saturday 31st July 2021, at about 0400HRS during which one “Kabati”, a member of the criminal gang sustained gunshot injuries and was confirmed dead at the hospital.

He said consequent upon this, the hoodlums in their numbers stormed the Soludero presumed office, located at the premises of the Federal Radio Coporation of Nigeria, Amuludun 99.1 FM, Moniya Ibadan in a bid to launch a reprisal attack.

The PPRO said upon the arrival of the hoodlums, they became agitated as none of their targets was on sight.

Consequently, the windscreens of four vehicles parked in the premises were broken along with the glass door at the entrance of the media outfit, inferring that the attack was not targeted directly at the media outfit but members of the vigilante group.

Mr. Osifeso added that investigations into the matter are currently ongoing and developments would be communicated accordingly.

The son of Seriki Hausawa in Iyere Town, Osun State, Usman Haruna, who was kidnapped in Osu has been rescued by the police.

release, stressing that the victim is currently receiving treatment
in an undisclosed hospital in the state.

According to the report, only Usman was kidnapped against the rumor
that two other people were abducted alongside him.

It will be recalled that Usman was kidnapped on Friday in Osu along Ilesa-Ife expressway and a ransom of 50 million naira demanded by his
abductors.

A 29 year old herbalist, Baoku Gbuyi and A 27 year old bricklayer, Olamide Odulaja have been arrested by men of Ogun state police command for allegedly killing a housewife, Modupeola Folorunsho and her 4 year old son Peter Folorunsho for ritual.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement in Abeokuta.

Mr Oyeyemi said the husband of the victim had earlier reported at Ijebu Igbo division that his wife and son were missing after several efforts to find them proved unsuccessful.

He said the suspects were arrested after the detectives in the division embarked on technical and intelligence based investigation, which led them to the arrest of Olamide Odulaja.

The command’s spokesman said the suspects who confessed to the crime explained that the victim and her son were killed for money ritual at the house of the herbalist.

Mr Oyeyemi said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward  Ajogun, had ordered the immediate transfer of the case to state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested nine members of a notorious land grabbing syndicate for unleashing violence on people of Agbogun Village in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State.

The suspects, Gbenga Odeniyi, Owolabi Shobayo, Michael Ramoni, Idowu Dauda, Femi Fadahunsi, Rasmus Hammed, Ade Lukman, Yakubu Akinwande and Sikiru Balogun were arrested after the Baale of the village had reported the case Obada Oko Divisional Headquarters that the suspects invaded the village and violently attacking the people, extorting money from those working on their sites.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi in a statement in Abeokuta said, the DPO Obada Oko Division, Mr Benard Ediagbonya mobilized his patrol team to the scene where they met the suspects attacking one Mrs Oniyide Folashade and one Mrs Agbogun who were developing their sites. 

Mr Oyeyemi explained that, the hoodlums fled the scene upon sighting the police, but they were chased and nine of them were apprehended.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun has ordered a massive manhunt for the rest of the hoodlums. 

Mr Ajogun advised land grabbers to stay clear of the state pointing out that the as the command would not tolerate any form of violence on the good people of the state from anyone or group no matter how highly placed such persons might be.

There was pandemonium on Tuesday morning at Ota-Efun Area of Osogbo as suspected thugs went on rampage over the alleged death of their leader.

The deceased, Ismail Daduro popularly known as “Jumong” was said to have given up the ghost following a protracted strange illness.

He was said to have been taken to different places to seek deliverance before his reported death on Tuesday morning.

Radio Nigeria gathered that members of his group went on rampage at the hearing of Daduro’s death in faraway Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

According to a witness, gang members of Daduro’s group started destroying property and molesting people at Ota-Efun in Osogbo claiming that their leader was killed. 

They also told traders not to open their shop for business today and tomorrow.

It was also learnt that Ota-Efun Motor Park was not spared in the dastardly act as several vehicles were reportedly damaged.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Osun State Command, Mrs Yemisi Opalola said police had been deployed to the area to ensure adequate security of lives and property.

Mrs Opalola said normalcy had returned to the area with the presence of the Area Commander, Divisional Police Officer, DPO of Ota-Efun Police Station and the Anti-Cultism Unit of the command.

She enjoined residents of the area to go about their daily activities without fear.

When Radio Nigeria visited the scene, mobile policemen were seen patrolling the area, while vehicles destroyed littered the popular Ilorin Motor Park in Osogbo.

A 35-year-old human trafficking kingpin, Comfort Innocent has been apprehended by operatives of Ogun State Police Command over the abduction and trafficking of two under-aged girls.

The suspect was arrested after two residents of Siun Town in Obafemi Local Government Area of the state, Oluwaseun Aduratola and Sakirat Fasasi reported at Owode Egba Police Station that the suspect abducted their daughters, Blessing Aduratola, 15 and Hasisat Fasasi, 16.

The residents alleged that the suspect was about to take the two girls to Libya where they would be forced into prostitution.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in Ogun State, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the arrest of the suspect in a statement in Abeokuta said she had confessed committing the crime.

Mr Oyeyemi said confessed that she used to send the girls to her Italy-based husband through Libya where they would be used for prostitution.

He pointed out that the victims had been rescued from Kaduna by the police.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.

He also appealed to parents to always be mindful of their children’s well-being especially the females in order to keep them safe from wolves in human skin.

A former House of Representatives candidate on the platform of Accord Party during the 2015 general election, Dr Fatai Aborode has been reportedly shot dead in Igangan, Ibarapa Local Government of Oyo state.

He was allegedly killed near his farm, along Apodun village, Iganagan by suspected herdsmen, on Friday evening.

It was gathered that Dr Aborode, a politician and prominent farmer, was killed just as he was leaving his farm around 4 pm in company with his manager on a motorbike. 

The manager who was said to have escaped gunshots, reportedly fled the scene. 

The report says he was attacked by the hoodlums and macheted severally and he died while being rushed to a nearby hospital. 

According to the Oyo State, Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, the command had begun an investigation into the attack with a view to arresting the culprits.

The tragedy struck less than 24hours after an Agric stakeholders meeting held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital in respect of the recurrent attacks by herdsmen in the zone.

Ogun State Police command has arrested two suspects for allegedly raping a fourteen year old girl in Owode Egba in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state. 

The two suspects who are in their twenties, Michael Hammed Azeez and Adeola Ogunseye were arrested after the mother of the victim had reported at Owode Egba Divisional Headquarters that her daughter was abducted by the suspects.

The mother of the victim told the Division Police Officer, DPO in Owode Egba, Mr Matthew Ediae that suspects took her daughter to an unknown place where the duo took turns to forcefully have carnal knowledge of her. 

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in Ogun State, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement in Abeokuta said the victim had been taken to Owode-Egba General Hospital for medical treatment. 

Mr Oyeyemi said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the Ogun State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.

A house wife in Kano identied as Hauwa has allegedly killed two of her children over rivalry and because her husband, one Ibrahim Haruna Aminu married a second wife.

The deceased kids were identified as Yusuf (5-year-old) and Zahra’u (3-year-old).

Reports gathered from their neighbors reveal that the incident occurred on Saturday morning in Diso village in Gwale Local Government area of Kano State.

Speaking to journalists the Uncle of deceased children, Sadiq Haruna Aminu said Hauwau, his brother’s wife and mother of the deceased children, have been living with envy and jealousy ever since his brother married another wife, leading to her killing her own children.

Sadiq told newsmen that his brother got married to a new wife two months ago.

He said the incident happened when the husband was away and in his new wife’s place.

His eldest wife, Hauwau called him on phone in the morning informing him that all is not well in their house only for him to go to the house and meet the lifeless bodies of the children in the pool of blood.

She carried out the atrocities and ran away from the house.

“She beat the children and used knife to cut them. Her sister’s daughter (10-year-old) who was living with them was also another victim but she survived with cut on her hand and she is the witness when the incident happened.

“We don’t know her whereabouts at the moment because we spoke with the security operatives. We learnt she went to her parent’s house,” Sadiq said.

The ward head of Diso, Ahmad Bello said they were all thrown into a state of shock with the incident.

Bello however condemned the act carried out by the woman saying she should have taken the matter to court instead of taking the laws into her hand and killing the innocent children.

When contacted the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Kano Command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the incident.

Mr Kiwaya said the suspect was in their custody, and investigation into the matter had already commenced.

The Alakinyele of Akinyele, Oba James Odediran has cleared the air on the alleged re-arrest of Sunday Shodipe, a suspect in the serial ritual killings in Akinyele Local Government, Moniya.

Sunday Shodipe was arrested about two months ago but later escaped from police custody last week.

According to Oba Odediran, some residents of Akinyele arrested a man believed to be Sunday in the early hours of Tuesday but when the arrested person was brought to his palace, it was discovered that the person was not the “Sunday” that is on the police wanted list.

Oba Odediran said since Sunday escaped, his photograph had been distributed to residents for easy identification whenever he was seen.

The traditional ruler while stating that the arrested man mistaken for Sunday had been identified to be Jelili.

“When we compared his face with the picture of Sunday they were not alike.” Oba Odediran.

The Alakinyele said Jelili was later whisked away through back door of the palace and handed over to police at the Moniya Divisional Station for further investigations.

Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO in Oyo State, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi confirmed that the suspect had been transferred to the Police Headquarters, Eleyele, for necessary assessment.

Mr Fadeyi added that the press would be duly informed on further developments on the matter.

Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Nwachukwu Enwonwu, says the prime suspect in the serial killings at Akinyele Local Government Area, Moniya Ibadan, Sunday Shodipe has escaped from custody.

This is contained in a statement signed in Ibadan by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi.

The statement notes that the 19-year-old who was arrested and paraded along with two others at the Oyo State Police Command on 17th July, 2020 and later charged to court but remanded in police custody escaped from lawful custody on August 11, 2020. 

It stated further that the command has begun intensive surveillance on the whereabouts of the suspected killer and promised continued maximum protection of life and property of residents of the state.

The Commissioner of Police, therefore, implored the general public to be on the lookout, arrest and immediately inform the officers and men of the command if Shodipe is sighted for immediate handing over for further action.

He further appealed to residents with credible information on the whereabouts of the assailant not to hesitate in passing same to the Oyo State Police Command to assist in the apprehension of the offender who is now at large.

A 75-year-old man, Jacob Ayinla, has reportedly raped a 15-year-old local juice seller popularly known as ‘Pito’ in his apartment in Osogbo, Osun State. 

A resident of the area told Radio Nigeria that the incident happened on Wednesday evening around Odi-Olowo area, Osogbo when Ayinla lured the girl into his house under the pretense that he wanted to buy the local juice from her.

Another source confirmed that the victim lived around Aresa area, Osogbo with her relative who produces the local juice for her to hawk every day. 

He said she reported the issue to the police station, informing the police’s visit to Ayinla’s House and eventual arrest around 6:30 PM on Wednesday. 

When the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Osun Command, Mrs Yemisi Opalola was contacted, she said, the victim reported the matter to Oja Oba Police Divisional Headquarters that she was raped by one Jacob Ayinla after he lured her to his house under the guise that he wanted to buy ‘Pito’. 

Mrs Opalola confirmed that the culprit was arrested while the girl was taken to the Police Hospital for a medical test.
