The Ogun State Government has threatened to shut any orphanages in the state who refuse to maintain international best practices in the discharge of their services to the orphans in their care.
Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Funmi Efuwape gave the charge during the monitoring exercise to private orphanages across the state.
Mrs Efuwape, who added that some of the orphanages may be merged for effective service delivery, to avoid having many orphanages that were not performing up to expectations.
The 33 orphanages visited across the three senatorial districts included Ijamido Children Home, Ota, in Ogun West, Kings Heritage Missionary Children Home, Ijebu Ode, in Ogun East and Gideon Orphanage, Abeokuta in Ogun Central among others.
