About fifty residents of Abeokuta have been sentenced to a two-day community service after being found guilty by the special court following their arraignment at a mobile court by the Ogun state covid-19 special taskforce.

The prosecution follows the critical enforcement of the safety protocols by the task force to reduce the curve of the pandemic which has been on the increase in recent time.

The taskforce led by the state commissioner for culture and tourism, Mr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo was backed up by the enforcement team and the state mobile court to try offenders who received their sentences after prosecution.

Mr. Taiwo said the compliance level by residents of the state had been a subject of concern hence the enforcement of the safety protocols by the special court.

Ogun state has recorded about four thousand and eighty cases, discharged three thousand four hundred and sixty one patients while forty six deaths have been recorded since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.
