As Nigeria Joins the rest of the world to commemorate this year’s International Women’s Day, there have been agitations for the practical integration of women living with disabilities into leadership positions.

Speaking with Journalists, the National Chairman, Speak Out For The Disabled People Initiative, Dr David Mathew affirmed that some women living with disabilities possess leadership skills and the ability to bring positive changes to society if giving the opportunity to serve.

Dr. Mathew urged all non-challenged women to truly and practically carry physically-challenged women along and give them a sense of belonging through constant engagement in social, economic, religious, ethnic and cultural activities.

According to him, no nation can be said to be developed without changing the status of her citizens living with disabilities.

He called on individuals and corporate bodies to complement the efforts of government towards enhancing the well-being of persons living with disabilities while there must be proper implementation of the disability laws.
