The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Ogun State Chapter has commenced a sensitization campaign to educate parents on how to counsel their children to be wary of free gifts as they celebrate Valentine’s day.

The sensitisation campaign which took the members to different religious organizations on Friday continued this Sunday with visits to The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG Agape Mega Parish, Olorunsogo, Saint Peters Cathedral Ake, End Time Christ Ministry, Abiola Way and the popular Lafenwa Market in Abeokuta.

Addressing the market women at Lafenwa being the market day, the NAWOJ Chairperson, Mrs Modupeola Sobukola said the sensitisation was in an effort to stem the tide of the get rich quick syndrome among youths.

 Mrs Sobukonla emphasized the need for parents to always ask questions and monitor the movement of their children at all times to avoid been used for ritual purposes which is now rampant in Ogun State.

In his remarks, the Babaloja of Lafenwa market, Chief Mukaila Adeyinka thanked NAWOJ for the timely gesture, saying it will make parents to be more alive to their responsibilities.

Also some of the market women including Madam Saidatu Adeola, Mrs Fausat Adeyemi and Mrs Adijat Akinola expressed their delight at the sensitization promising to deliver NAWOJ’s message to their children.
