Women have been called upon to work together to put an end to gender inequality, sexual harassment, domestic violence, child Abuse, child labour, underage marriage, child trafficking, female genital mutilation, drug abuse, cultism amongst others. 

Participants made the call at this year’s 2022 International Women’s day celebration organized by the Nigeria Labor Congress, NLC, women committee held at GRA, Osogbo.

In a lecture, The Secretary, Democratic Socialist Movement, DSM, Osun state, Comrade Kola Ibrahim said women should put their trust in a collective wing of the labour movement to build the union so as to make it accountable for its actions.

In her address, the chairperson NLC women committee Osun State Chapter, Mrs Modupeola Oyedele pointed out that women are not in competition with the men folks but it is pertinent to state that their voice be heard.

Mrs Oyedele who expressed dissatisfaction that In 15 states of the federation had no woman in their state assemblies, nothing that the recent sponsored bill of reserved quota for women was rejected, however expressed the hope that it would be reviewed in the nearest future.

Also in an interview, The Chairman Trade Union Congress, TUC, Comrade Adekola Adebowale and the State Chairman Nigeria Civil Service Union, Comrade Christopher Arapasopo described the event as a day to celebrate and to show important women to the society across the world.

The duo called on women to continue to press home the demands of women, join train of Politics and many other good things.
