Osun State Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has again expressed assurance that he will reclaim his Governorship mandate from the opposition, the People’s Democratic Party.

Governor Oyetola stated this in Osogbo while addressing party members and supporters who participated in a solidarity match to express support for APC presidential candidate, Senator Bola Tinubu and his running mate Kasim Shetima.

He emphasized his belief in God to reclaim his mandate, stressing that Senator Tinubu would also win the presidential election in 2023.

The governor, who described Asiwaju Tinubu as the best for the job, said the APC flag bearer had demonstrated his competency to restore the nation’s glory.

Radio Nigeria correspondent reports that Governor Oyetola had earlier joined thousands of party members for a 9.2km solidarity walk in Osogbo.

The walk, which took off from the government house went through Oke-Fia, Olaiya, Isale Osun, Oja-Oba Station Road and terminated at freedom park where the governor addressed party members and supporters.

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola says Osun Osogbo festival has become so popular and acceptable across the globe thus boosting the state’s economy.

Oyetola stated this at Osun groove, Osogbo during the grand finale of the 2022 annual Osun Osogbo festival.

Represented by Secretary to the State Government, Mr  Wole Oyebamiji, the governor said the festival had projected and promoted the rich Yoruba culture and tradition.

The Osun State helmsman appreciated the tourists who were devoted to participating, noting that foreigners usually attended the festival, which had boosted the state’s Economy.

In his words, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun who is the chief host, prayed for Osogbo indigenes as well as for peace and progress of the state.

Meanwhile, there was heavy security at the groove and its environs as men of the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Oodua People Congress, and paramilitary officials were strategically positioned to forestall break down of law and orders.

Radio Nigeria reports that some of the devotees including foreign tourists were possessed by the spirit of the Osun goddess as they rolled on the floor uncontrollably.

Osun State Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola says developmental projects across the state will not stop despite his 4-year tenure in office winding down. 

He stated this while addressing members and supporters of his party, All Progressive Congress, APC, in Egbedore and Ejigbo Local Government areas where thousands of his supporters gathered to listen to his campaign messages. 

Governor Oyetola, who appreciated them for choosing him as the party candidate, emphasized the need for them to support him for a second term to enable him to continue in the task of developing the state.

In his address, Osun State APC chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun urged party supporters that none of the other parties in the Osun 2022 governorship race could boast candidates that could accomplish what APC had achieved in 4 years.

The Director-General, Oyetola Campaign Team, Senator Ajibola Bashiru highlighted the achievements of Governor Oyetola in every sector of the economy, emphasizing that these good deeds should be reciprocated by supporting Governor Oyetola to clinch power for another four-year term.

Correspondent reports that Governor Oyetola also paid homage and sought the support of traditional rulers in the local governments as he met them at the palaces of Alawo of Awo Oba Abdul Rasaq Adegboye Abioye and Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Omowonuola Oyesosin where he highlighted his achievements in their areas which should earn him their support.

The royal fathers, who admitted the government’s developmental efforts, offered prayers for the peaceful conduct of the forthcoming poll as political parties intensify their electoral campaign in the state

In Governor Oyetola’s entourage were top government functionaries, APC political stalwarts and former political office holders in the state.

The Governor of Osun State, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola says his Administration’s commitment to sports development is aimed at continuously preaching and spreading the messages of love, unity, hope, and development in the State.

Governor Oyetola stated this while declaring the year 2021 Osun Sports Festival closed after its finals competition at Osogbo City Stadium.

He said the initiative was geared towards engendering peaceful coexistence,

sustaining Osun’s status as the most peaceful State in the country and achieving the goal of speedy transformation of the socio-economic development of the State.

The Governor reaffirmed his Administration’s commitment to ensuring adequate implementation of the State’s Youth Policy Statement designed to promote Youth Education, Youth Empowerment, Youth Entrepreneurship, and Youth Engagement.

Addressing the participants, Mr. Oyetola said his administration had recorded huge success in its resolve to diversify the economy to non-oil sectors in which the sports had received adequate attention from the government.

The Osun helmsman hinted that to achieve the objective, the festival had been put together to discover hidden talents in various sports across the Local Government Areas, harness and groom them to stardom. 

Earlier, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Yemi Lawal had lauded the avowed commitment of Governor Oyetola to youth development in the State.

Mr. Lawal who described youths as the most energetic and productive segment of the population praised the Administration for investing tremendously in the sector.

He listed some of the interventions of the Administration to turn around the sector to include the appointment of 42 Local Government Sports Coordinators, including the Zonal and State Coordinators for robust coordination of sports at the grassroots; approval and funding of state participation at various sports competitions, including the just-concluded 20th National Sports Festival, held in Edo State, “EDO 2020”, despite all the postponements; approval of the compositions and appointments into various Sports Associations in the state; financing the two-state teams of Osun United and Osun Babes Football Clubs in their different league; and fencing, renovation of Osogbo City stadium.

At the finals of the football competition, Ejigbo Local Government Area Football Club won the tournament and secured the trophy by 4-1 against Ife-East Local Government Area Football Club.

Other winners in the other sporting activities were also honored and rewarded.

Pensioners in Osun State have renewed appeal to Governor Gboyega Oyetola to offset their outstanding entitlements without further delay.

The state coordinator of the former civil servants, Comrade Isaac Oluwafemi made the appeal in Ilesa when he led other members to Radio Nigeria Gold FM.

The coordinator explained that efforts to make the present administration clear the twenty-nine months arrears and facilitate the insurance of bond certificate for the payment of contributory pension fund had proved abortive.

Comrade Oluwafemi claimed that more than three hundred beneficiaries were dead, while about ten thousand other pensioners were in object poverty.

In a remark, the state vice chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC , Comrade Gambi Yusuf, who described Governor Oyetola’s administration as workers-friendly, pleaded with the pensioners to exercise more patience as the efforts were being intensified for the payment of their entitlements.

Osun State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola has flagged off the construction of the Olaiya Flyover in Osogbo.

Speaking at the flagging off, Governor Oyetola promised that the flyover project would not affect other dividends of governance in the state.

According to the governor, “the project was necessitated by the need to enhance quality of lives of our people and improve infrastructure in our city that is becoming more populated and boisterous on account of increasing business activities.

He said the project would address growing traffic around major routes in the city particularly, Olaiya axis, as well as preventing frequent cases of accidents in the area.

In a remark, Osun State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mr Remi Omowaye said the proposed flyover was a 4-span of 15m each, with two Underpass bays for U-turning to Fakunle/Justrite and MDS/Post Office. 

Mr Omowaye maintained that the Flyover would be financed through Alternative Project Funding Approach and the project would be completed in the next nine months

Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has expressed sadness over the transition of the Akirun of Ikirun Land, Oba AbdulRauf Olawale Adedeji II.

Governor Oyetola in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, commiserated with the first son of the monarch and Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Hon. Babatunde Olawale, the immediate family of the monarch, his friends, associates and the people of Ikirun.

He commended the late traditional ruler’s leadership style, noting that Ikirun witnessed tremendous development during his reign.

According to him, Oba Adedeji demonstrated strong concern and commitment to the welfare of his people and the development of the town.

Mr Oyetola, who described the late Akirun as a father and great supporter of his administration, said the deceased would be long remembered for his impacts and legacies.

Oba Adedeji, who died at the age of 78, was installed the Akirun of Ikirun in 1991.

Osun State Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, has released the sum of Seven Hundred and Eight Million Naira (N 708,000,000) to further offset pension arrears of retired officers of the state’s civil service.

A statement by the Head of Service, Dr Festus Olowogboyega Oyebade indicates that the sum of Five Hundred and Eight Million Naira (N 508,000,000) of the released sum was approved for the payment of retired civil servants, while an additional sum of One Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (N 150,000,000) was approved for the payment of retirees under the contributory pensions scheme.

The statement notes that an additional Fifty Million Naira (N50,000,000) was approved for the payment of gratuities of retired officers under the old pension scheme.

According to the statement, the list of beneficiaries of the approved sum has been pasted on the Notice Board of the Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation, the State’s Pension Bureau and the Office of the Head of Service.

It would be recalled Osun State Government recently released One Billion Naira for pension settlement before New Year celebration.

Osun State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola says the Olaiya flyover is not just an iconic project designed for ostentatious purposes but one of the government’s measures to ensure the safety of citizens’ lives.

Governor Oyetola stated this during his inspection tour of the diversion points during the demonstration closure of the Ogo-Oluwa-Olaiya-MDS corridor on Friday.  

According to him, the Olaiya flyover was meant to take care of the traffic bottleneck around that intersection.

Governor Oyetola, who said there had been several accidents around there over the years, noted that the flyover would prevent the frequency of accident at Olaiya interchange.

Speaking earlier, Osun State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mr Remi Omowaiye, said the demonstration closure was the government’s empirical way of gathering data to improve the traffic diversion model during the eventual closure.

Mr Omowaye hinted that the construct of a flyover at the Olaiya intersection would be flagged off in the next two weeks, saying the diversion plans was part of the preparation for the commencement of the project

In a remark, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Transport, Mr Olatoke Olaniyan, lauded the idea of the flyover, adding that the various road crashes recorded at the intersection had been a source of concern to government.

He said the flyover, when completed, would ensure smoother traffic flow and also add aesthetics to  Olaiya area of the State capital.

The Osun State House of Assembly has reaffirmed its confidence in the leadership of the Speaker, Mr. Timothy Owoeye and the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola.

The Deputy Majority Leader, Mr. Kunle Akande said the reaffirmation was in response to some misgivings in certain quarters.

Mr. Akande, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Media and Publicity, in a release noted that the Speaker has piloted the affairs of the 7th Assembly in a collective and participatory manner, giving every member a sense of belonging.

He said the State Executive had been working in harmony with the Legislature to the disappointment of the opposition. 

The lawmakers in the release signed by twenty two members expressed satisfaction with the performance of Governor Gboyega Oyetola despite the meager resources accruing to the state. 

The Assembly said it would continue to maintain a productive and cordial relationship with the Executive for the development of the state.

Osun State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, has expressed sadness over the death of Senator Adebayo Salami, the Baba Adinni of Osogbo and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.

Governor Oyetola in a post on his official Facebook page, commiserated with the family of the deceased and the Muslim community in Osun. 

He prayed Almighty Allah to grant his family and the Muslim community the fortitude to bear the loss.

Senator Bayo Salami, however, represented Osun Central at the Senate from 1999 to 2003.

Osun Chapter of Nigerian Legion has lauded the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola for creating an enabling environment for the members of the legion to thrive.

The state Chairman of the legion, Comrade Oladimeji Olalere stated this in Osogbo at the launch of 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem.

Comrade Olalere said the administration had done excellently well in all the sectors of the economy as manifested in the  infrastructure development springing up across the state.

He described the two years of the administration as most impactful, not only to the members of the legion but also to the generality of the citizens of the State.

In his remarks, Osun State Governor, Mr  Adegboye Oyetola applauded the nation’s security operatives in the country for standing firm to ensure adequate protection of the nation’s territorial integrity and collective security and safety of the citizenry.

Governor Oyetola, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr  Benedict Alabi, described Armed Forces Remembrance Day as a day that affords a unique opportunity to publicly salute the courage and extol the onerous roles of the outstanding patriots.

He acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the Nigerian Armed Forces to nation building, particularly the avowed commitment to containing the activities of terrorists and bandits across the nation.

Osun State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola has appreciated the people of the state for the cooperation and support given to his administration throughout 2020, which he described as the most challenging year in human history.

Governor Oyetola, who said these on Thursday in his New Year Message to the people of the state noted that in spite of the challenges encountered in the out-gone year, his government was able to provide equitable and adequate services for its citizenry.

He appealed to residents and citizens of Osun to always observe Covid-19 protocols so as to curb the spread of the virus in the State. 

The governor said infrastructure development received a boost in 2020, noting that the government constructed and rehabilitated several intra- and inter-city as well as rural roads across the State

He assured residents that his administration’s Development Agenda was on course and promised that he would continue to work tirelessly to set Osun on the pathway to  sustainable economic revolution

Governor Oyetola revealed that within the first quarter of the year, the state government would unveil the Osun ICT innovation hub, which he said would provide a world-class platform for aggregating ideas of the State’s brightest minds in the technology and the innovation space.

As part of measures to improve judicial infrastructure, Osun State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola has opened for use a set of new courtrooms at the Osun State High Court Complex in Osogbo.

The commissioning was part of activities to mark the 2020/2021 legal year of the Osun State judiciary.
