Since the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, World Health Organisation, W.H.O, recommended the use of face mask or shield to curb the spread of the disease.

Also, the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19, on April 27th mandated the use of face masks or covering in public places in view of the ways in which the virus is being transmitted from one person to the other.

However, there is a contrary directive from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC on the use of face shield.

To this end, most Nigerians are confused on whether to use nose mask or face shield or the combination of the two apparatus to combat the spread of the virus.

Our health correspondent, captured opinions of stakeholders on the use of face shield and nose mask.

NSCDC Commandant in Oyo state, Alhaji Iskilu Akinsanya made this known while declaring open a day training exercise for officers of the Command on the Role of Security Personnel in Containment of COVID-19 Outbreak.

While speaking on the role and responsibilities of security agencies, Alhaji Iskilu admonished the officers and men to implement government’s directives on curfew and interstate lockdown with the fear of God and professionalism.

NSCDC Commandant in Oyo state, Alhaji Iskilu Akinsanya addressing officers and men of the corps during the training

He encouraged them to cooperate with sister agencies and relevant authorities such as NCDC by ensuring consistency of messages to communities and share their feedback with relevant authorities.

Meanwhile, the corps had earlier busted a mosque at Ikolaba Area of Ibadan where religious activities were taking place, but the faithful fled on sighting the security personnel before they could make any arrest.

The NSCDC boss therefore warned all religious bodies in the state to obey the law and comply with the rules and regulations regarding the containment of Covid-19, as anybody that errs will face full wrath of the law.
