Osun Government has debunked the alleged directive to Local Governments to contribute N2.9 billion naira.

According to a statement by Governor’s Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the government says the allegations were senseless like the fake news of a plot by the Adeleke government to demote one million workers.

The government called on members of the public to ignore the new round of misinformation and disinformation, noting that the administration is governed strictly by due process and transparency within the context of public finance regulations.

The statement adds that the State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has zero tolerance for corrupt practices as he focuses daily on the delivery of good governance and people’s welfare.

It assured that the Ipade Imole to be held next month, will give Osun people and all stakeholders the opportunity to receive and contribute to the stewardship report from the state government.

The Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke felicitated with the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Oyetunji, Laroye II, on the occasion of his birthday.

Governor Adeleke in a congratulatory message by his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, described the monarch as an exceptional traditional leader, who exemplifies service to humanity.

He commended Oba Oyetunji for his endearing contributions to the peace and progress of Osun State and Nigeria as a whole.

The Governor acknowledged the frontline monarch’s transformational leadership, which evidently manifests in the infrastructural and economic upscale that Osogbo enjoys since he assumed the stool of the ancient town.

While saluting the Ataoja for his sustained efforts in entrenching peace and developments in his domain, Governor Adeleke added that he remains inspired by Oba Oyetunji sense of purpose to his people and will always treasure his valuable contributions to the promotion of the traditional institution.

The Governor prays for God’s sustained guidance and strength for the Ataoja in furtherance of rendering qualitative service towards the peace and growth of not just Osogbo, but Osun State as a whole.

The Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has described Osun State University, UNIOSUN, as a shining light among other universities in the world.

Governor Adeleke stated this while receiving the management team of the College of Law of the university, led by the Provost, Professor Mojeed Alabi in his office at the State Secretariat, Abere.

He said he is proud about the institution being a Peoples Democratic Party’s, PDP’s legacy under the administration of former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola.

The governor reiterated his commitment to support the growth and development of the university so as to further produce first-class graduates that will be generally acceptable and marketable in the labour market.

Governor Adeleke called on the university administrators to sustain the tempo of best practices and professionalism, stressing that the institution and its colleges must continue to be run transparently and responsibly. 

Earlier, the Provost, College of Law, Osun State University, Ifetedo Campus who commended the governor for his style of governance which he said has touched every sector in the state, invited him to the third in the series of distinguished personality lecture of the College of Law of the university slated for the 31st of May, 2023.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has charged corps members to imbibe the mindset of entrepreneurs by offering marketable solutions to human problems.

Declaring open the three weeks orientation course of the NYSC Batch A Stream 2 at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, Senator Adeleke maintained that through their innovation and creativity, Nigeria’s economy would be made bigger and stronger.

The governor urged them to be law-abiding, embrace peaceful coexistence with their host and avoid indulgence in frivolities and exuberance associated with the modern youth.

“I want you to know that Osun State is a beautiful and relatively peaceful state. Her people are peace-loving and accommodating. So do not be in a hurry to leave the state through relocation, but rather stay back to enjoy the serene environment, cheap commodities and love of the good people of the state”. the Governor admonished.

Presenting the one thousand eight hundred and three corps members posted to Osun State to the stakeholders, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Agbor Ndoma Obim announced that the scheme would be celebrating fifty years of her existence this year.

“The scheme is celebrating 50 years of her existence, 50 years of meaningful impact in the socioeconomic development of the nation, 50 years of integrating and uniting the nation through her programmes, which has fostered inter-ethnic relationships, inter-ethnic marriages, cross-cultural movements and appreciation, free movement and provision of trained and qualified manpower across the nation, improving the quality of life of the people through the free healthcare programme tagged Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers “.

Mr Obim urged the corp members to join their voices, skills and efforts in sustaining the lofty ideals and achievements of the scheme.

The NYSC Coordinator also appealed to the Osun State government and all corps stakeholders to support the Scheme through a review of allowance for corps members, renovation and expansion of camp infrastructure to accommodate the increasing number of those deployed to the state.

The Chief Judge of Osun State, Justice Modupe Adepele Ojo, who was represented by Justice Oyeyemi Oyebiyi performed the oath of allegiance on the corps members.

A total of one thousand eight hundred and three corps members, compromising of eight hundred and forty male and nine hundred and sixty-three females were deployed to Osun State, while seven hundred were dislodged from Lagos State for the three weeks orientation course.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has reiterated his administration resolve to better the lot of the people of Osun state more than they have ever experienced since the creation of the state 30 years ago.

Governor Adeleke stated this while inaugurating a new water project at Irepodun/Alusekere community in Ede, a project which was facilitated by Osun Community and Social Development Agency, CSDA.

The Governor, represented by Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye declared that Osun is inching gradually towards greatness in line with the mission and vision of its founding fathers

Describing water as very important in the day to day affairs of people, Governor Adeleke maintained that his administration will not leave any stone unturned to make it available to all communities as he stressed that water is not only good but essential for people to stay physically healthy and insulated from all diseases.

Earlier, the General Manager, Osun State Community and Social Development Agency, Mrs. Funmi Abokede lauded Governor Adeleke for initiating and funding the water project across the state aimed at serving the Osun people.

In his remarks, Head of Local Government Administration, Ede North Local government, Alhaji Isiaka Ayantoye also commended the Governor Adeleke and Osun CSDA for making life meaningful for the people of Osun State through the provision of basic amenities.

Alhaji Olawanle urged people living in Irepodun/Alusekere community to reciprocate the gesture by constantly ensuring proper and adequate maintenance of the project.

As the world marks Earth Day, the Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has approved a comprehensive climate change agenda to address emerging concerns about climate change and its impact on the state.

A statement by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed indicates that the new agenda includes the making a climate change and adaptation policy for Osun state, creation of the state climate advisory board, establishment of climate tracking research unit at the Osun State University, the development of annual state energy report and the hosting of a post COP 27 conference for sub-national entities in Nigeria.

Part of the agenda covers a long list of climate adaptation and resilience projects which will generate local jobs, preserve the environment and enhance the state’s capacity to benefit in the area of carbon credit and finance.

Speaking on the agenda, Governor Adeleke said the approval of the climate programme was in fulfillment of his election promises to address the threatening environmental crises facing Osun and the world at large.

Senator Adeleke said he directed the announcement of the climate agenda to re-confirm his administration’s resolve to make Osun the most climate friendly state in Nigeria.

The Governor added that his administration will invest in making Osun a truly green economy by mainstreaming climate matters in health, education, infrastructure, finance, mining, technology as well as gender and youth matters.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has urged the Muslim faithful not to jettison the virtue of love and sacrifice the holy month of Ramadan teaches.

The governor, in a statement by his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, while felicitating with Muslims on the celebration of the 2023 Eid-ul-Fitr charges the Muslim faithful to continue to live with love, sacrifice, and piety as they did throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

He charged the Muslims to, in line with the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and Prophet Muhammad, live with tolerance with their neighbours.

The governor urged them to pray for peace and development in Osun State, as well as for the present administration to deliver developmental projects for the benefit of the populace.

The Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has described the recent appointments of principal officers for the University of Ilesa as part of the fulfilment of his promise to nurture a sustainable tertiary institution for Ijeshaland.

Governor Adeleke, in a statement by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, reaffirmed his commitment to building a sound-footed university, which he said informed his approval of a leading academic of international repute, Professor Taiwo Asaolu as the Vice Chancellor of the university.

Commending the leaders, sons and daughters of Ijeshaland for their patience and acceptance of the government’s decision, the Governor assured that the laudable ideas recommended by the Asaolu Review Committee would be implemented.

Governor Adeleke urged all stakeholders to cooperate with the new Vice Chancellor as he settles down to the urgent task of sustainable take-off of the university.

The Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has approved the appointment of Professor Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu as Vice Chancellor for the University of Ilesa and other principal officers.

The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye issued letters of appointment to the principal officers in his office.

Alhaji Igbalaye at a meeting with the appointees charged them to uphold the virtue of professionalism and integrity which endeared them to the State Governor and which recommended them for the appointments.

Other principal officers, Mr. Funso OJO as Registrar, the Bursar is Dr. Mukaila OYEKANMI and the Librarian, Mr. Adewale OGUNSIPE

The Vice-Chancellor, Taiwo Asaolu is a  Professor of Accounting and Finance and former Dean, Faculty of Administration, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria.

Professor Asaolu was the Chairman of the University of Ilesa Review Committee which was set up by Governor Adeleke to address all outstanding issues for the eventual take-off of the University.

Osun State government has ordered the immediate closure of Ife-Ede Road for three weeks as construction activities commenced on a section of the road in Ile-Ife.

In a statement issued in Osogbo and signed by the spokesperson for the governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the directive followed the inspection of the area by the governor.

The statement said Governor Adeleke who was taken around the road and the collapsing bridge, ordered the Osun State Ministry of Works to mobilise to the road and fix it without delay.

Mallam Rasheed also said the ministry had mobilised to the site for the commencement of the construction work.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke says he will be holding a series of Town Hall meetings tagged “Ipade Imole” to serve as an accountability forum for government activities.

The governor in a statement by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed declared that the forum will be held on a quarterly basis with a focus on detailed reports of government finance, revenue inflows, expenditure and ongoing and completed projects.

The “Ipade Imole” will involve relevant government agencies delivering reports of activities of each ministry to give details of ongoing projects, how much it costs, stages of completion and other contractual details to the public through the forum.

Governor Adeleke said aside from being a forum for accountability on the side of the government, it would also provide an avenue for policy ideas from civil society, media and the public into the government policy processes.

The quarterly forum will involve participants from various sectors of society while, interested members of the public, media and civil society will also have the opportunity to visit project sites and assess stages and quality of work done.

He assured the people of Osun State that each forum will equip them with publications on government activities and also avail them the space to question and interface with relevant agencies and officials.

Governor Adeleke who said his 100 days of activities by the end of March marked the first mini “Ipade Imole” added that the first expanded forum will hold by June ending at a senatorial district to be announced.

The Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has directed immediate establishment of a support desk for Osun technology innovators and entrepreneurs to access the recently launched 618 USD technology fund by the African Development Bank, AFDB.

In response to the tech fund which was a collaboration between the AfDB and the Federal Government of Nigeria,

Governor Adeleke in a statement by his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed expressed readiness of his government to tap into the opportunities in furtherance of the digital economy agenda of his administration.

Governor Adeleke who was full of praises for the AFDB President, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina said his administration has created enabling environment for Osun technology ecosystem, citing the recently unfolded state ICT Policy, State Tech Innovation Policy, domestication of Nigeria’s Startup Act, the flag off of the state’s broadband fiber optic project and the establishment of a Digital Advisory Board.

He lauded Dr. Adesina for consistently demonstratibg his commitment to supporting the growth and development of African economies, and his efforts towards the development of the technology and creative sector in Nigeria are commendable.

The Governor commended the African Development Bank for domiciling the fund in the Bank of Industry to prevent it from being politicized stressing that it is a great step towards ensuring that the fund is used for its intended purpose and will benefit the technology and creative sector in Nigeria.

He urged all technology and creative sector entrepreneurs in Osun State to engage directly with the Ministry and register as a stakeholder operating within the state.

While pledging to unfold the second phase of the state digital economy agenda in due course, Governor Adeleke called on Osun elite to join his administration in the drive to harness the potential of the technology and creative sector and create a vibrant and innovative ecosystem in Osun State.

Reactions have trailed the appeal Court judgement which upheld the victory of senator Ademola Adeleke as the winner of July 16th governorship election held in Osun state.

The appellate court on Friday set aside a lower court judgement which had removed Adeleke as the governor.

Reacting to the judgement, a former member of Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. George Alabi described the judgement of the appeal court as victory for democracy in Osun State and Nigeria.

In their separate reactions, Alhaji Musbau Alawe and Prince Adenrele Olayanju noted that Osun residents and PDP members in Osun State did not expect anything less from the Court of Appeal, describing the earlier judgement by the election tribunal sitting in Osun State as a miscarriage of justice.

A legal practitioner in Ejigbo local government, Mr. Niran Ojekale who condemned the judgement maintained that the Court of Appeal had erred by not following due process.

Recall that the Court of Appeal earlier reserved judgement on the appeal filed by Senator Ademola Adeleke calling for the nullification of his candidacy as the winner of July 17th, 2022 held in Osun State.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke says the judgement of the Court of Appeal, validating his election has rekindled the trust of Nigerians in the Nigeria’s Judiciary as the hope of the ordinary people.

Governor Adeleke stated this while reacting to the judgement of the Court on his appeal against the judgement of the election petition tribunal voiding his election as Governor of the Osun State in the July 16 governorship election.

Our Correspondent reports that the Country home of the Adeleke family in Ede was full of supporters who trooped in to celebrate the Appeal judgement.

Governor Adeleke who could not hide his joy after hearing the verdict of the Appeal Court sang songs of praises to God for the favourable judgement.

The Governor said the verdict of the Court was an affirmation of the voice of the Osun people on their choice of Governor freely expressed during last year governorship election in the state.

Governor Adeleke noted that, with the Appeal Court judgement confirming him as duly elected Governor, he would continue to deliver on its campaign promises to the people for a meaningful and sustainable development in the state.

He urged the opposition to accept the judgement in good faith and join hands with his administration to work for the development of Osun State.

The Governor also advised his supporters to jubilate with caution and not to cause mayhem reminding them it is holy month of Ramadan.

In his remark, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye was full of gratitude to God for the victory at the Appeal Court.

Also speaking, the Secretary, Caretaker Committee of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Osun State, Otunba Femi Carrena who described the judgement as the will of God and the people, urged members of the party to remain committed to the present administration in the state.

Recall that the Tribunal headed by Justice Terste Kume had on January 27, 2023 declared the All Progressive candidate, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola as the winner of July 16 governorship election asking Governor Adeleke to vacate the office.

Osun state government says it will review the legal framework as it affects the people with disabilities within Osun State. 

The governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke stated this at the distribution of support materials to people with disabilities.

Governor Adeleke who directed the Ministry of Justice to review and bring up to date the Osun State Disability bill said all needed legislative and executive actions should be launched without further delay.

He assured the people with special needs, of his administration’s readiness to ensure that the final law addresses all their concerns and full implementation as may be prescribed.

While calling on residents to support the government’s efforts to address the state’s developmental challenges, the governor said his administration is committed to supporting every citizen of the state including persons with disabilities.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Coordinating Director, Ministry of Youths, Sports and Special Needs, Mrs. Taiwo Oladunjoye appreciated the governor for his love and passion towards Persons with disabilities in the state.

She explained that two hundred and forty people with disabilities will benefit from the mobility aids, and appealed to other non-governmental organizations to partner with the government in helping people with disabilities.

In their Goodwill messages, , President of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disability, Mr. Steven Idowu thanked the governor for his love for the Disability community demonstrated through a life-impacting programme under the Community Development Association and the distribution of mobility aids and as well requested for reinstatement of 61 disengaged PWD teachers among other requests.

Highlights of the event were and distribution of the mobility aids to persons with disabilities across the five cluster groups of physically Challenged, visually impaired, hearing impaired, people with albinism and people with spinal cord injury.

Items distributed include wheelchairs, elbow and armpit crutches, Guiding canes for the visually impaired, leading midget for the hearing impaired, medical aid materials for persons with spinal cord injuries, thick umbrellas, skin cream and magnifying glasses for those with albinism among others.

Osun state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke says he will give the necessary support for the success of the 2023 census.

The governor stated this at the inauguration of the State Census Security and Logistics Committee held at the Exco Lounge of the Governor’s Office, Abere.

Represented by the Secretary to the state government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, the governor said he will support the Committee with all necessary assistance for the successful conduct of 2023 Census.

While thanking all the service chiefs for their prompt response to security challenges in the State before, during and after the election, the governor charged them to do more for the State and for the entire nation as a whole.

He then assured that the State Government will give full support to the Committee in order to enable it perform the assignment efficiently and effectively.

In his remarks, Senator Mudashiru  Hussain stated that the Commission attaches great importance to the work of the Security and Logistics Committee in its quest to give Nigeria credible, reliable and acceptable Census data for national planning.

He then promised that the Commission will, without delay, organise workshop on processes and methodologies for the Census in order to get the stakeholders adequately mobilized for the assignment.

The Committee to be Chaired by the Mr. Governor, also has the SSG, Alhaji Igbalaye Teslim and the Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission (NPC), Senator Mudashiru Hussain as co-chairmen, while Mr. Owoye Martins is is the Secretary of the Committee.

The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has directed security agencies to arrest any resident who violates the directive on the restriction of movement as the House of Assembly election holds Saturday across the 30 local governments and Area Office.

The Governor in a statement by his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed tasked the security agencies to enforce previous directive and regulations which required political leaders to stay in their area after voting instead of moving round towns and villages.

The statement says any resident who breaches the directive on movement restriction should be picked up stressing that nobody no matter how highly placed will be allowed to disrupt the peaceful conduct of the assembly elections.

The Governor said he had directed immediate arrest of hoodlums and political thugs in the state and ensure anybody caught faced the full wrath of the law.

Meanwhile, the State Government has condemned the killing of a People’s Democratic Party, PDP, supporter, Mr. Wole at Ile Ife on Thursday evening after a political rally attended by the National Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

Governor Adeleke who condemned the killing of Mr. Wole and others in various incidents of political violence directed security agencies to arrest all the perpetrators.

He commiserates with the families of Wole and others who have been killed simply in the course of the election.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has assured residents of the state of adequate protection of lives and property before, during and after the Saturday’s State Assembly election.

Governor Adeleke gave the assurance while speaking with newsmen after a closed door meeting with heads of security agencies in Osun State.

The governor said he was confident that the security agencies will do more than they did during the last Presidential and National Assembly Elections.

He then urged residents of the state to come out en masse and exercise their franchise without fear of molestation or harassment while calling on anyone with intention of causing crisis to have a change of heart as security agencies are up to the task.

In an interview, the Commissioner of Police deployed for the election, Mr. Peter Awoyomi assured residents of adequate protection of lives and property, saying that men and officers of the command were ready for the election.

Also speaking, the Osun State Controller of Immigration, Mrs. Abolude Bewaji warned foreigners to stay away from polling stations saying that the agency will apprehend any foreigner caught trying to compromise the electoral process.

Present at the meeting were the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, the Head of Service, Mr Ayanleye Aina and all security agencies including the Police, the Nigerian Army, Airforce, Navy, Nation Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Immigrations, Nigerian Correctional Service and of the Department of State Security, DSS.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke says his administration is focused on ensuring good governance and satisfying the needs of the people of the state.

Governor Adeleke stated this at a media briefing to mark his 100 days in office at the Exco Lounge of the Governor’s office, Abere, Osun State.

He maintained that his administration has jettisoned party affiliation but work with people who are committed to the development of Osun state.

The Governor explained that in his 100 days in office, his government has touched every sector of the state including economy, agriculture, health and social infrastructure.

He highlighted the 100 days achievements to include provision of borehole water in 332 wards, construction of 20km roads across the state as well as presentation of 518 million naira to forty communities for infrastructural development.

Governor Adeleke further said that his administration would reposition tourism and entertainment industry to tap the potentials for economy advantage of the state.

The Governor who called for continued support of the Osun people for his government assured that he will deliver all his campaign promises.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the peaceful conduct of the election just as the INEC officials arrived at the polling units early. 

Governor Adeleke who gave the commendation while addressing Journalists also lauded the use of the Bio-modal Verification Accreditation System (BVAS) for the exercise, which he said was swift and working well.

The Governor arrived at his polling unit at Ward 2 Unit 009, Abogunde /Sagba, in Ede North Local Government area at exactly 8:42 a.m. with his family and did his accreditation and also voted at 8:44 a.m. 

He advised the voters to follow the rules and regulations guiding the electoral process and eschew violence.

Also, the Speaker Osun State House of Assembly, Mr Timothy Owoeye was at his polling unit 006, ward 10 in Ilesa East Local Government to cast his vote with a call to Nigerians to conduct themselves peacefully.

Radio Nigeria reports that the election in some parts of the state, including Osogbo, Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, Olorunda, Ejigbo Local Government areas is going smoothly without any form of distraction.

However, Radio Nigeria observed that motorists who are not on official duty flouted the order of IGP while some food vendors were doing their business with some shops open.

Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has called on people of the state to mobilize and troop out peacefully to elect leaders of their choice at Saturday’s general elections.

In his pre-election statement, Governor Adeleke described Saturday’s election as a critical milestone in the democratic development of Nigeria in which all eligible citizens must actively participate to decide the future of the nation.

“My good people of Osun state, the general election is here and we have a patriotic duty to actively join the electioneering process. Your vote is your power and your ticket to securing good governance for yourselves and our future generation”.

He urged all eligible voters to take up their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, and participate in the electoral process by voting for the candidate of their choice.

The governor noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has provided an enabling environment for the conduct of free and fair elections, assuring that security agencies have also mobilized to protect citizens as they exercise their constitutional rights.

While warning against electoral violence, Governor Adeleke said security agencies are under strict instruction to clamp down on hoodlums and agents of violence.

Governor Adeleke called on residents of Osun State to make the state the most peaceful throughout the election period and beyond.

He added that the election must be held under a peaceful atmosphere noting that democracy is about choice, not killing and maiming.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has reiterated his commitment to the general well-being and health of the people.

The Governor stated this at the flagged off the Imole free Medical and Surgical Outreach for 18000 people across the nine federal constituencies.

Addressing the people of Iwo, Ayedire and Olaoluwa Federal constituency at a hospital in Iwo where the event took place, Governor Adeleke said the medical and surgical intervention was borne out of his desire to provide sound and qualitative healthcare for people.

He said the medical outreach was part of his cardinal promise to the people during his campaign which he is ready to fulfill.

In his remark, The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi commended the governor for restoring hope to many people who could have died of curable diseases like cataracts, pterygium, hernia, lumps, hypertension, diabetes, malaria, tuberculosis among others.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chief Medical Director, Uniosun Teaching Hospital who is also the Chairman of the medical outreach implementation committee, Professor Peter Olaitan said the team targets two thousand patients in each of the federal Constituencies.

Professor Olaitan said the turnout was unprecedented which implies that thousands of people are dying in silence by living with ailments that could be treated medically.

Radio Nigeria reporter noted that from outpatient to the surgical wards, medical teams had more than enough patients than anticipated but the leader of the team assured that they have medical supplies that can take care of the number.

Some of the beneficiaries of the free medical and surgical outreach expressed appreciation to the governor and prayed for the success of his administration.

The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has announced a medical outreach that will offer free surgical and medical services to 18,000 indigenes of the state.

The Chairman of the implementation committee who also doubles as the Chief Medical Director of Uniosun Teaching Hospital, Professor Peter Olaitan, made this known during a press conference held at the boardroom of the hospital.

Some of the Diseases to be treated include Cataract, Pterygium, Diabetes, Hypertension Lipoma, keloid, ganglion and Hernia among others.

The medical outreach will be carried out in all the nine federal constituencies of the state, where 2,000 patients are targeted per zone.

He enjoined the people of the state to take advantage of the gesture of the state government and enjoy the free better health programme.

The medical outreach will be flagged off in Iwo next week Wednesday, 15th February, 2023.

The Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has approved the payment of arrears of half salaries for civil servants for the month of January 2018.

In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mr. Oladele Bamiji indicates that subsequent payment of arrears of half salaries will be done once in a quarter beginning with the second quater of year 2023.

The Governor according to the statement also approve payment of 4 months of outstanding deductions starting with the immediate payment of May 2019 deduction and the other three months at once per quarter as well as cash backing of the years 2019 to 2022 promotion exercises.

He also approved the monthly payment of arrears of half salaries to Contributory Pensioners, state and local), who have not received their bonds with effect from February 2023 as well as.

Governor Adeleke reiterates his commitment to the welfare of the state workforce as well as other segments of the society in Osun State.

It will be recalled that the state government under the leadership of former Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola had owed the state civil servants 30 months arrears of half salary.

Oyo state Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has urged corps members posted to the state to explore the unity of Nigeria in their various host communities

He gave the advice at the official swearing-in ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘A’, Stream One Corps members held at NYSC permanent camp Iseyin

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Bayo Lawal advised the corps members to see their posting as a call to sacrifice, dedication, perseverance and humility.

Governor Makinde also reiterated his commitment to supporting the NYSC scheme with facilities to enhance the smooth running of the orientation programme and prompt payment of the allowance for corps members serving in Oyo state.

Earlier in an address of welcome, State Coordinator, NYSC Mr. Odoba Abel Oche, said over one thousand five hundred corps members were registered for the three weeks orientation programme and enjoined the corps members to take advantage of the activities so as to be better equipped for the one-year mandatory service.

The swearing-in ceremony had in attendance the Acting Chief Judge of Oyo state, Mrs Iyabo Yerima, Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Mr. Ṣeun Fakorede, security chiefs and representatives of traditional chiefs as well as cooperate organisations.

Similarly, in Osun State, the governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke says what binds Nigerians together is stronger than what divides the nation.

Senator Adeleke made the remark at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Ede.

Addressing members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC posted to Osun State for the 2023 Batch A stream I, Senator Adeleke charged young Nigerians to let go of negative preconceptions and misconceptions capable of distorting their contributions to the path of uniting Nigeria.

The Osun Governor told the corps members that they had great roles to play in strengthening and expanding the capacity of Nigeria’s economy by embracing skills acquisition.

“Be creative and innovative as graduates. Do not only think of consuming but rather begin to think of what you can produce or offer as a solution to human needs and problems. Imbibe the mindset of an entrepreneur and toll the path of diligence, hard work and industry, which is the key to lasting success and prosperity.”

In a remark, the State Coordinator, Mrs Abdulwahab Olayinka reminded the corps members of their roles in the next month’s general elections, urging them to be on their best behaviour.

“Conduct yourselves in the most respectful and acceptable manner during your training and on the day of the election. The conduct and contributions of your predecessors in the electoral process have earned the scheme the love and respect of the people “. The coordinator said.

Mrs Abdulwahab appealed to the Osun State Governor, corps employers and other stakeholders for the review of the state allowance for corp members, renovation of the dilapidated infrastructure, expansion of the multipurpose hall and construction of additional camp for corps members as well as accommodation for officials at the orientation camp.

“It’s pertinent to note that NYSC Osun State lacks a befitting office accommodation since inception in 1991”

The Osun State Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Adepele-Ojo, who was represented by Justice Matthias Agboola administered the oath of office and that of allegiance to the corps members.

A total of two thousand and fifty-nine corps members are to participate in the three weeks exercise.

One thousand, five hundred and nine of them were deployed to Osun State, while five hundred and fifty were dislodged from Lagos state.

In Ekiti, Governor Biodun Oyebanji has assured the NYSC that his administration will continue to support the scheme with available resources in the area of provision of facilities in the camp.

Governor Oyebanji gave the assurance at Orientation Camp in Ise/Orun/ Emure Ekiti.

The Governor, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, Mrs Tola Faseluka urged corporate organizations, nongovernmental organizations and well-meaning individuals to join hands with the government in sustaining a good future for Nigerian youths.

He urged them to exhibit a high level of responsibility, integrity, patriotism, loyalty, dedication, discipline and commitment to the nation.

The Ekiti State NYSC coordinator, Mrs Mary Chikezie appealed to the corps members to pay attention to the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED lectures and other training to make them self reliance after the service year.

According to her, the orientation course was put together to equip the corps members with the necessary skills that would enable them to meet the challenges of service years and beyond.

The NYSC coordinator, who congratulated the corps members for graduating from their various institutions, described their mobilization as a clarion call for them to rise up to the task of nation-building and integration of its citizens.

Mrs Chikezie, however, warned the corps members against unruly behaviour such as wrong use of social media, cultism, drug abuse, gambling, drunkenness and other negative devices within and outside the camp.

She told them that NYSC management had put in place various reward platforms to appreciate all the outstanding ones and at the same time sanction those found wanting to serve as a deterrent to others.

Mrs Chikezie applauded Governor Biodun Oyebanji for creating an enabling environment for corps members to live peacefully in the state.

She equally thanked the Governor for subsidizing the meal of the last Orientation course in the camp, calling for the extension of the meal subsidy for the corps members currently at the orientation camp.

The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice John Adeyeye, represented by Justice Olalekan Olatawura administered the oath on the corps members, warning them against violating the rules and regulations guiding the scheme.

About one thousand NYSC 2023 Batch A stream One corps members deployed to Ekiti State have been sworn in, with an appeal to them to participate actively in all the camp activities both physical and intellectual.

The corps members comprise 455 males and 416 females drawn from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
