The Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr Dominic Mokikan wants the staff to shun greed and subsume their interest under the corporate interest and overall growth of the establishment.

Mr Mokikan made the call while addressing the members of staff of Paramount FM, Abeokuta during his official visit to the station. 

The Zonal Director assured the staff of the Corporation’s readiness to provide a conducive environment to enable the workers to strive and thrive.

He said the Director-General of FRCN, Dr Muhammed Bulama had embarked on familiarisation visits to Zonal and FM stations to assess and identify the operational challenges to address the issues. 

Earlier, the Deputy Director of Administration, FRCN Ibadan, Mr Adebayo Eso had said that the essence of the meeting was to appraise the station’s performance so far and set the pace for enhanced service delivery in the remaining quarters of the year.

The remains of Alhaji Adeniyi Mukhtar Odekunle who died in the early hours of Wednesday have been buried at the Muslim cemetery in Paseda off Ayegun Oleyo Road, Ibadan.

The body of the former General Manager Paramount FM Abeokuta was earlier prayed upon by Muslim jamaat, family members, and members of staff of Radio Nigeria Ibadan Zonal Station at the premises of Otunba Adedeji Central Mosque, felele where his body was prepared for final Burial rites.

In a sermon, Imam of central mosque challenge, Alhaji Jabar Adelabu urged family members and sympathisers to embrace righteous living and contribute positively to everyone that comes their way.

The cleric who spoke in Yoruba, extolled the virtues of the late Ahaji Odekunle, saying he touched many lives positively while on earth urging his family members and the people to sustain the legacy.

In a tribute, his childhood friend and Deputy Director of Internal Audit, Radio Nigeria Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Adewale Akande, described the late Odekunle as a complete and unassuming man.

The Deputy Director, News and Current Affairs, Radio Nigeria Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr. Adewumi Faniran, who described the deceased as a friendly man loved by all lamented that Alhaji Odekunle died on the eve of a well-planned editorial ceremony slated for Thursday morning to pull him out of service.

The immediate brother of the deceased, Dr. Morisayo Odekunle and his niece, Mrs Aderonke Idowu narrated how Alhaji Odekunle was instrumental to their accomplishments.

Alhaji Adeniyi Mukhtar Odekunle has engraved his footprints in the sands of time in Nigeria’s media sector as he served different terms as General manager at Radio Nigeria Amuludun fm Moniya Ibadan and Paramount FM Abeokuta before he retired in October last year. He will be greatly missed for his positive role and contributions towards the growth of the sector in Nigeria.

He’s survived by his wife and three children.

Monday 4, 2023 was one such day for members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, FRCN Ibadan chapel to unwind, as part of activities to mark Press Week.

The venue of the treat was Kayrom Lee Gym and Fitness Centres,  Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Liberty Road, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, where they engaged in exercises and swimming to promote their health, mental alertness and fitness.

The members of the union, who were led by the Chairman, Mr Olukayode Banjo, were warmly received by the Chief Executive Officer of the centre, Ambassador Romoke Ayinde who conducted them around the facilities.

Kayrom Lee Gym is truly a place to be, and the experience the fitness outfit offered was quite exhilarating!

Talk of the swell time splashing, diving and floating in the swimming pool: a way to increase the neurochemicals in the brain for happier, healthier, to lower stress and anxiety, according to fitness experts.

No less memorable were encounters with the equipment at Kayrom Lee, with the likes of the massaging machine, sauna, and other fitness machines.

There was also time for games of table tennis and squash at the gym.

Speaking on the exercise, Ambassador Ayinde said media professionals need to engage in sporting activities to keep them fit at all times despite their busy job schedules.

Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ FRCN Ibadan chapel, Mr Oluwakayode Banjo described the choice of Kayrom Lee Gym and Fitness Centre as a well-thought-out plan, considering the equipment available for use at the centre, saying the exercise promotes healthy living.

Journalists in the country have been advised to strive for excellence while discharging their duties. 

The General Overseer, World Outreach Revival Centre, WOREC, Adegbayi, Ibadan, Apostle Peter Akanji gave the advice while addressing members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan chapel during a thanksgiving service marking the commencement of the chapel’s press week.

 Apostle Akanji, explained that it was important that FRCN staff be role models and pacesetters in broadcasting, as contemporaries were watching the performance of FRCN newsmen.

“I want encourage you to strive for excellence. Be a role model, others are watching you. Be a role model in your character and endeavours. I also want you to plan for the future.”

Earlier in his message Entitled: 2024; the Year of Destiny Recovery with Double Bonus” taking his text from 1 Samuel chapter 30 verse 8, Apostle Akanji expressed optimism that 2024 would be a better year for Nigerians, urging Christians to persevere and pray for the nation’s leaders.

The cleric, however, urged the Federal Government to prioritize the provision of jobs for the nation’s youths, road infrastructure, and security of lives and property.

In his remark, Chairman, FRCN Ibadan chapel of the NUJ,  Mr Oluwakayode Banjo, said the union considered it needful to express gratitude to God having survived the ordeals of the outgoing year.

 Mr Banjo, who pledged to continue to uphold the ethics of the profession, said Ibadan FRCN chapel was set on the mission of recovering its lost glory not only in the state but also at the national level.

“God gave us victory over the challenges that rose against us in 2023. Despite all, God has been faithful to us. We appreciate Him. We give all the glory and that is why we want to start the press week with a thanksgiving note.

 “I am happy with the sermon of our Apostle: Destiny Recovery with Double Bonus, also NUJ, FRCN, Ibadan chapel, used to be a giant chapel in Oyo state and we are on the mission of total recovery. We have started that work now”

He however implored the cleric to continue to echo the truth to Nigerian leaders without intimidation.

The event featured special songs and special prayers for the FRCN union members.

Zonal Director, Radio Nigeria Ibadan, Mr Dominic Mokikan has unveiled Mr Nafiu Busari as Head of Station Asabari 88.3 FM Saki.

Presenting Mr Busari during a staff meeting at the station’s office in Saki, the Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN, Ibadan, Mr Dominic Mokikan said Mr Busari was carefully selected after all factors were put into consideration.

He pointed out that the Management strongly believes that Mr Busari is fit for the job.

Mr Mokikan enjoined him to be dedicated and ensure that the station is rated high among others.

The Zonal Director, who noted that Asabari FM started transmission January, 2023, said the station was well accepted in Saki and its environs.

He promised the listener that the station would continue to promote peaceful existence among the people and laudable programmes of the government.

Mr Mokikan explained the station was located in Saki in order to promote people ways of life and convey their yearnings to the government.

Responding, the Head of station, Asabari 88.3 FM, Mr Nafiu Busari said he regarded the appointment as a trust which must be protected. 

He sought the support of the staff in achieving the goals of establishing the station and attracting customers. 

The forum had in attendance the Assistant Deputy Director, Administration, FRCN Ibadan Zonal station, Mr Adebayo Eso.

The body of the former Acting Zonal director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station, Pastor Zachaeus Oloruntola has been committed to mother earth in ibadan, Oyo State.

At the well attended funeral service held at Christ Life Church International, Olaogun, Old Ife road, Ibadan, family, friends, well-wishers, retired and serving Radio Nigeria staff were present to pay their last respect to the former Acting Zonal Director, FRCN, Ibadan.

In a sermon, Pastor Kehinde Ajibola, who stood in for  Bishop Wale Oke, founder Christ Life Church International and current President Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, admonished the congregation to always walk in the ways of the lord for their names written in the Book of Life.

Pastor kehinde urged family and friends of late Pastor Zachaeus Oloruntola to take solace in the fact that their loved one had gone to be with the Lord.

Speaking on the virtues of late Oloruntola, retired Deputy Director news, Pastor Kayode Akinsola and retired Chief Technical Officer Studios, FRCN Ibadan, Mr Taiwo Farinde, said the late Oloruntola was a gentleman and a great colleague that strived for the development of the station.

To the immediate retired zonal director, FRCN Ibadan, Mrs Bolatito Joseph, Pastor Oloruntola was a wonderful personality with a kind spirit.

The Zonal Director FRCN, Ibadan, Mr Dominic Mokikan represented by Deputy Director Engineering Services, Mr Gabriel Ajayi, said pastor Oloruntola’s  legacy would live long.

When Radio Nigeria approached the wife and daughter for comment ,they were too emotional to answer.

Pastor Zacchaeus Kolade Oloruntola served as the Acting Zonal Director, FRCN Ibadan from 2011 to 2014 before being transferred to Lagos operations where he retired as Director, Internal Audit in 2021.

Pastor Oloruntola died on September 1st 2023 aged 62.

He is survived by wife, children and grandchild.

It was a moment of sober reflection as family members, friends and former Colleagues of a former Acting Zonal Director, Federal Radio Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station, Pastor Zacchaeus Oloruntola gathered at Christ Life Church, Agape Diocese, Apata, for a service of songs in honour of the deceased.

Our correspondent reports that the service featured series of choir renditions and testimony of the good deeds of Pastor Oloruntola while on earth.

In a sermon, the founder, Sword of the Spirit Ministries, Christ Life Church, Bishop Wale Oke, who was represented by a senior pastor in the ministry, Bishop Olusoji Adeniji, charged people to prepare themselves for eternity, noting that death was inevitable.

Dignitaries at the service were the Zonal Director, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr Dominick Mokikan, who was represented by Deputy Director, Finance, Mr Akin Amole, Director, FRCN Lagos Operations, Mrs Bolanle Owoyemi, General manager, Postive FM, Mrs Olubunmi Olalere, as well as, past and present staff of Radio Nigeria.

The funeral service for the deceased holds today at Precious Cornerstone University, Olaogun, Ibadan.

The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Premier FM Ibadan has reassured customers and partners of its resolve to strengthen operations for their satisfaction.

The Zonal Director, Radio Nigeria Ibadan, Mr Dominic Mokikan made the remark at Premier FM 2023 Customers and Fans Forum held at the Studio One, Broadcasting House, Dugbe, Ibadan.

Represented by the Deputy Director Engineering, Mr Gabriel Ajayi, Mr Mokikan said the forum was aimed at increasing customer’s satisfaction by brainstorming to move the station forward.

Giving a brief history of the Broadcast Station, the General Manager, Mr Adedamola Tinubu said Premier FM was inaugurated in 2001 by the then First Lady, Mrs Stella Obasanjo with Mrs Toyin Williams as the pioneer GM.

Mr Tinubu further highlighted some of events organized by PFM to endear more listenership to include Easter Cantata, kiddies Marathon, kids’ football championship and Sports summit.

Mr Tinubu added that the station had opted for alternative power source to address electricity power needs.

In a presentation, Deputy Director, Marketing, Mr Wale Afinjuomo reiterated that building a good partnership required love, trust, commitment, communication and forgiveness.

In good will massage, Chief Executive Officers, Kerom Lee Fitness Centre, Chief Mrs Romoke Ayinde, Tikadol Event Center, Alhaji Taofik Omotosho, representative of Ewa Islam Communication, Alhaji Rahman Adebayo and Pastor Abiodun Adeyemo representing Prophet Festus Ayanfe of Christ Revelation Ministries Eleyele Ibadan, lauded the organizers of the forum and encouraged Premier FM to continue to appreciate its customers.

Partners and customers cutting across business owners, political, religious and social groups were well represented at the meeting.

The forum afforded the participants opportunity to ask questions and get clarifications on issues relating to their partnership.

Some of the customers who appealed for improved online presence also urged the station to always keep them updated with the operations and improve on service delivery.

Should government continue to unnecessarily interfere in sports, it is bound to stunt its growth in the country.

Speakers made the remark in their various presentations at the 2023 Sports Summit organised by the Department of Outside Broadcast and Sports, Radio Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station.

The speakers, who spoke on the theme, Sports as a Business Catalyst were of the opinions that over the years, management of the sports sector had been policitised, hence, the low performance and rating of the Nigeria contingents at international tournaments.

Speaking on government interference, ineptitude and lack of accountability a veteran sports Journalist and retired Director of OB and Sports at Radio Nigeria headquarter Abuja, Mr. Shina Abimbola explained that people saddled with the responsibility of administration of sports and maintenance of facilities are often inexperienced, and this remains injurious to the sector.

Mr Abimbola canvassed for discipline in the Federal Ministry of Sports and the National Sports Commission to attract sponsorship and partnership of the private sectors to boost the nation’s sports development.

In another presentation, Chairman Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter, Mr. Isaac Ogala called on Government to create sports friendly environment for games to thrive. 

 Mr. Ogala enjoined government to desist from politicising sports, bring back its culture in public schools and reward outstanding performance.

The Zonal Director FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station Mr Dominic Mokikan, represented by Deputy Director Engineering Services, Engineer Gabriel Ajayi called on government to tap into the business opportunities in sports to tackle the economic challenges of the nation.

Chairman on the occasion, Mr Benjamin Okorie charged the national sports management to explore opportunities in cycling to shore up the nation’s glory among the comity of nations.

Winner of gold medal in table tennis at the first National Sports Festival in 1973, Alhaji Waheed Ẹkùn, who lamented his being not compensated till his retirement 30 years ago, advocated the creation of enabling environment and adequate reward for Nigerian sports talents.

Member of the Federal House of Representatives from Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency, Engineer Remi Oseni, represented by Alhaji Niyi Yusuf, charged Nigerians to renew interest in the national sporting league so as to boost the business opportunities inherent in the sector.

Earlier in an address of welcome, Deputy Director OB and Sports, Dr. Abiodun Ogidan noted that playing politics with the nation’s sports sector would inhibit talent discovery in the country.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, FRCN Ibadan Chapel has congratulated members on the occasion of this year’s Easter Celebration

In a press statement signed by the Chapel Chairman, Mr. Oluwakayode Banjo, the chairman rejoiced with the adherents on the successful completion of lent which culminated into Passion Week where the travails of Jesus Christ’s trial, crucifixion, death and resurrection that saved mankind from sin was reflected.

Mr Banjo, praised the passion and total commitment of members who observed the forty days fasting exercise and their dedication to their professional duties without compromise whatsoever while the spiritual exercise lasted.

  “Your passion and commitment during the 40 days of fasting were absolutely total. This exemplified your resolve to exhibit the Christ-like virtues such as the Disciples and the Apostles of faith to fortify the spiritual mind.”

“While the spiritual exercise lasted, you were dedicated to duties and discharged your professional responsibilities without any compromise whatsoever.” …Banjo added

The Chapel Chairman, who urged members to uphold the new administration in prayers for success and outstanding performance said his team had swung into action to bring back the lost members and also tackle the daunting challenges confronting members and the union as a whole.

“I enjoin all members not to lose faith in the union but hope for a virile and more prosperous NUJ FRCN Ibadan Chapel of our dream as we the executives strive to bring back the lost members and restore our dear union to its enviable height.”

Mr Oluwakayode Banjo of Premier FM, FRCN, Ibadan has emerged as the chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, FRCN Ibadan Chapel.

Mr Banjo was elected unopposed by members at Studio One, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station.

Declaring Mr Banjo the winner, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr Oluseye Arowolo, said the new chairman had satisfied all the requirements of the election.

Other contestants, who clinched their positions were Rasheedah Makinde who emerged as the Vice Chairman, and Opeyemi Olugbenga as Secretary.

 Mr Olalekan emerged as the Financial Secretary with Dayo Adu as Assistant Secretary, Folashade Osigwe as Auditor and Moses Morenikeji Treasurer.

Delivering his victory speech, the new chairman, Oluwakayode Banjo said the inauguration signified a new era to members.

Immediate past chairman, Mr Nafiu Busary while reeling out his experience described his tenure as being quite eventful.

He advised the newly inaugurated executives to always make themselves available and approachable to all who wanted to air their views.

In a remark, Zonal Director FRCN Ibadan National Station, Mr Dominic Mokikan urged the new Executives” to work as a team and seek the support of management when needed so as  to move the station forward”

In his remark, Deputy Director News and Current Affairs Department, Mr Adewunmi Faniran said he would continue to guide the union with experience gathered as a unionist himself for a fruitful tenure.

.Deputy Director, New Media  Dr Olushola Agboola, and Deputy Director Programme, Reverend Niyi Dahunsi advised the newly inaugurated team to ensure the welfare of members of staff was their priority.

In a goodwill message, the Chairman, NUJ Oyo State Council, Mr Demola Babalola, appealed to the management of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, to increase funding for the organisation to maintain its status as  the flagship of Broadcasting in the country

Some NUJ members, who spoke after the inauguration, tasked the new executive members to hit the ground running as there was a lot to be done.

 Those who graced the occasion included the new General Manager, Premier FM Ibadan, Mr Adedamola Tinubu.

The new executives will serve for three years.

The Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr Dominic Mokikan has promised to run an all-inclusive administration to move the station to greater heights.

Mr Mokikan made the promise at his inaugural staff forum held at Studio one, Broadcasting House, Dugbe, Ibadan.

The Zonal Director urged the members of staff to synergize with the management team and work for the progress of the station.

Mr. Mokikan encouraged the staff to put in more effort and be proactive in the discharge of their duties

The Zonal Director gave an assurance that there would be regular capacity building for members of staff to boost efficiency.

He also promised that the current challenges being faced in the station would soon be a thing of the past as the management was working assiduously to proffer lasting solutions.

The Zonal Director advised the members of staff to generate ideas that would benefit the system while imploring them to be punctual at work.

There were questions and answers sessions, as Mr Mokikan gave members of staff the opportunity to air their views.

Mr Mokikan assumed the position of Zonal Director, FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station on the 17th of October,2022.

He was formerly of Revenue  Monitoring and Compliance Directorate, Abuja.

Workers retiring from government service have been told to ensure they properly mentor those behind them to sustain their legacies.

Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN Ibadan, Mrs Bolatito Joseph stated this at the send-off for Mr Bashiru Olatubosun a staff of the Audit Department of FRCN, Ibadan.

Mrs Joseph, who described the retiring staff member as diligent and well-groomed, urged others behind him to emulate his style on the job.

Earlier, the Deputy Director, Internal Audit, FRCN, Ibadan, Alhaji Abdulrasheed Akande described Mr Olatunbosun as the department’s oldest and most experienced man.

The celebrant, Mr Olatunbosun appreciated God as well as Radio Nigeria the platform through which he served humanity.

The event featured gift presentation as well as a short drama.

Onibuji of Ibuji in Ondo State, Oba Folagbade Ojo has conferred chieftaincy title of Erelu of Ibuji kingdom on the Zonal Director of FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station, Mrs Bolatito Joseph.

Oba Ojo made the announcement at the retirement party for three retired officers of the corporation.

The three retirees are Director News, Elder Adenrele Ajisefinni, Deputy Director News, Chief Sola Adewale and Controller News, Chief Olukayode Babalola.

Former Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Planning in Oyo State, Mr Abimbola Adekanbi will on Monday, 25th April feature on Guest of the Month, the rebranded programme of the News and Current Affairs Department of Radio Nigeria,  Ibadan Zonal Station.

Guest of the Month is a programme designed to contribute to the nation’s building.

 The programme over the years has been addressing issues of diverse interests with a view to advancing the cause of the people and to engender national development in line with the Motto of Radio Nigeria “Uplifting the people and uniting the nation “.

According to a statement by Chairman of the planning committee and Assistant Director,  News and Current Affairs,  Mr Adewumi Faniran,  the programme which  will commence by noon will be held at Studio one Broadcasting House,  Oba- Adebimpe Road, Dugbe , Ibadan .

The statement notes that Mr. Adekanbi will be answering questions from Panelists comprising seasoned journalists including the Bureau Chief of the Nations Newspaper,  Mr. Bisi Ladele, Assistant Director News, FRCN, Mr Tayo Sanni, Manager, New Media Department,  FRCN,  Mrs Olaitan Oye-Adeitan while the moderator is the Head of News, Premier FM,  Mrs Tola Daramola. 

It explains that the Zonal Director,  FRCN,  Ibadan, Mrs. Bolatito Joseph will be the chief host while the Deputy Director,  News and Current Affairs,  Mr. Tunde Abiodun will be the host.

The statement adds that Mr Adekanbi who is an Aspirant for  Oyo South Senatorial Seat on the platform  of All Progressives Congress,  APC will later participate on Political Space, a live interactive programme on Premier FM,  93.5 at 3 o’clock in the afternoon.

The rapturous praises and sonorous lyrics rarifying the atmosphere captured the mood of members of Radio Nigeria Ibadan Christian Fellowship during this year’s Easter Cantata.  

The venue of the gathering was Studio One, Broadcasting House Radio Nigeria.

In a speech, the Zonal Director, Radio Nigeria Ibadan, Mrs Bolatito Joseph said Easter was significant because the death of Jesus Christ brought hope to humanity.

Mrs Joseph explained that understanding the essence of Jesus Christ’s death should always elicit gratitude and thanksgiving from Christians.

In a sermon, President, Radio Nigeria Ibadan Christian Fellowship, Pastor Taiwo Sowande said Easter was worth celebrating as it marked the foundation of hope for believers through the vicarious sacrifice of Jesus.

Similarly, a member of staff, Mrs Stella Oyebanji, in an exhortation said God’s abundance of grace was always available for Christians to attain enviable spiritual heights.

The event was coloured by hymns, special songs and drama pieces from choristers from Nigeria Television Authority, Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, Guys Apala and Okiki Olodumare.

In attendance were some members of the Committee of Management of the station including Deputy Director, News and Current Affairs Department, Mr Samson Abiodun, Deputy Director New Media Department, Dr Sola Agboola, Dr Abiodun Ogidan and Engineer Gabriel Ajayi.

Alumni associations have a vital role to play in the drive for quality education in the country.

President of the Association, who is also the Deputy Director, Programmes FRCN Ibadan, The Reverend Niyi Dahunsi, made the assertion at a medical outreach organized by the 89th Set of the alumni association of Saint Patrick College, Ibadan.

The Reverend Dahunsi explained that the outreach by the 89th Set was borne out of the need to give back to the school that produced them  

The principal of the school, Mr Ogunsola Akinkunmi while appreciating the 89th alumni set, implored the old students not to forget their Alma Mata.  

In a lecture on proper care of the teeth, a medical doctor in the Department of Child Oral Health, University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, Olubukola Bamidele, advised people to use chloride-based toothpaste in brushing their teeth to enhance oral hygiene.

Dr Bamidele explained that teeth brushing should start from the gum to the edge of each tooth, and not vertically.

Brightville College Ibadan has emerged as the Oyo State champions of the FRCN Ibadan Kids Football Challenge. 

The Ibadan Zone Champions defeated Oyo Zone Champions, Ilora Community Commercial High School by two goals to nothing in the final which was played at the University of Ibadan Football Field. 

Earlier, Oliver Baptist High School, Oyo who came second in Oyo Zone had won the third-place match of the tournament.

The Oyo side came from one goal down to defeat Loyola College, Ibadan who are runners-up from Ibadan Zone by two goals to one. 

David Ogunwuyi from Olivet Baptist High School won the best player award, Quyun Olasupo from Brightville College won the best goalkeeper award while Isaac John from Brightville College was the highest goal scorer with seven goals. 

Speaking with newsmen, Zonal Director, FRCN, Ibadan, Mrs Bolatito Joseph said the football tournament would be held annually.

Mrs Joseph appealed to parents and school proprietors to encourage children to participate in sports due to its numerous benefits. 

She commended the local organizing committee of the tournament headed by Deputy Director Marketing of the Corporation, Mr Wale Afinjuomo for a successful outing.

The management of Al-Isha Nursery and Primary School Agbowo, Ibadan has commended the management of Radio Nigeria for setting the pace in the broadcast industry.

An official of the school, Mr Lateef Asimiyiu stated this during an excursion of the pupils to Radio Nigeria Dugbe Ibadan.

He explained that, exposure of the pupils to the outside world prompted the visit as some of the excited pupils narrated their experiences.

The pupils who expressed joy at the experience noted that the visit would spur them on in their education.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says Continuous Voters Registration will commence in on Monday 28th of June 2021.

The Resident Electoral commissioner of INEC in Oyo State, Mr Mutiu Agboke stated this during a courtesy visit to Radio Nigeria Ibadan, at the Broadcasting House in Dugbe, Ibadan.

Mr Agboke while commending Radio Nigeria for setting the pace in broadcasting nationwide urged members of the public who are 18 years and above to come out en masse to register as it would be more of online registration.

Responding, the acting Zonal Director, FRCN Ibadan, Mrs Bolanle Owoyemi commended the INEC commissioner for being free and fair in electioneering matters while pledging the station’s continuous support for the commission.

Mrs Owoyemi urged INEC commission to continuously carry voters along in its electioneering process.

Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station, Pastor Bolanle Owoyemi has charged broadcasters to be objective in their reportage.

She made the call while addressing staffers of Radio Nigeria Ogo-Ilu 89.3FM at the Broadcasting House, Oko, Oyo state.

Pastor Owoyemi, who said Radio Nigeria stood for prompt and accurate information dissemination, urged the staffers to maintain the standard.

“Remember we are Radio Nigeria, do not engage in any local politics. Make sure you uphold our slogan of uplift the people and unite the nation” she said.

Impressed with the commitment of staffers across departments, the zonal director expressed the confidence that Radio Nigeria Ogo-Ilu would soar higher in its operation.

She added that the management would support the station for better operation.

The Acting Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mrs Bolanle Owoyemi has called for synergy between Federal media establishment in Oyo State to enhance effective information dissemination to the public.

Mrs Owoyemi, who led other members of management of FRCN on a courtesy visit to the management of Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, noted that cooperation among media establishments including private ones would in no small measure facilitate unbiased news reportage.

The Acting Zonal Director, FRCN, who appreciated NTA for the cordial relationship which has existed between the sister stations, however, solicited further support for the newly established FRCN Ogo Ilu 89.3 F.M, Oko, Oyo State, for smooth operation

Responding, the Zonal Director, NTA, Mrs Omolola Olorode said the station would be ready to collaborate with FRCN not only in moving the new F.M station forward, but also in all other areas of cooperation between the two Federal agencies.

Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN Ibadan, Alhaji Muhammed Bello says the corporation would this weekend be decontaminated as part of efforts in the protection of the health of the staff against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Alhaji Bello stated this while receiving an infrared body thermometer, for checking people’s temperature donated by Radio Nigeria Staff Investment Credit and Cooperative Society Limited.

Alhaji Bello who appreciated their efforts noted that the gesture would go a long way in preventing the contraction of Covid-19 among the staff and the guests.

He added that the staff should always endeavour to follow the rules laid down by NCDC, including the use of Nose-covers and hand-sanitiser to collectively wage war against the pandemic.

Presenting the thermometer, President, FRCN Corporative Society, Mr Akinjide Akinsola said the donation became imperative for the association to contribute its quota to the war against Covid-19.

Mr. Akinsola noted that the cooperative would at all times support the corporation whenever the need arises.

Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN Ibadan, Alhaji Mohammed Bello stated this when he paid a condolence visit to the family of Abiola who lost their son, Alhaji Tajudeen Abiola yesterday.

Alhaji Bello said though, nobody could avoid death but people need to prepare for heaven while on earth with good deeds and conducts in line with the teachings of Allah.

He also urged the wife of the deceased to take heart and prayed Allah to give the family the fortitude to bear the loss of the departed soul.

Reacting on behalf of the Family, only son of the deceased, Hafeez Abiola said the family was overwhelmed with the way Radio Nigeria Ibadan staff sympathised with them.

Alhaji Tajudeen Abiola died on Tuesday during a brief illness at the age of sixty-six and he was survived by an aged mother, wife and children including a Radio Nigeria staff, Tawakalit Ibrahim of the News and Current Affairs Department.
