The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi has appealed to the Oyo state government to give priority to the construction of a modern mega trailer park in the state. 

The Corps Marshal who made the appeal when he paid a courtesy visit to the Governor’s office, explained that the project would reduce traffic gridlock in the state as Ibadan is strategic to vehicular movement to different parts of the country.

Dr. Boboye stressed that the construction of modern trailer’s park was imperative to curb road crashes as a result of indiscriminate parking by truck drivers.

While calling for collaboration with the corps to avert instances of road mishap during ember months, Dr. Oyeyemi also implored the governor to work on the Iwo road interchange and halt street trading along the Iwo – Ife road and other major roads in the state for safety.

Responding, Governor Seyi Makinde explained that despite criticisms, he remained committed to finding solutions to the gridlock at the Iwo road interchange and would complete the project within nine months when flagged off.

Governor Makinde said his government would consider the modern trailer park project, noting that it was not ideal for trucks to cluster on the roads.
