Osun State governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke has condemned sponsored posts on his alleged admission of over-voting, accusing Mr. Gboyega Oyetola and the All Progressive Congress, APC of misrepresentation of facts before the tribunal.

In a statement issued by the Spokesperson to the governor-elect, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Senator Adeleke explained that his defence at the tribunal disproved Mr Gboyega Oyetola’s claim of over-voting in 750 polling units as it was created by the incomplete data of the BVAS based on the unsynchronised BVAS report that was used by the petitioners.

The statement further affirmed that the false over-voting does not represent what is on the BVAS machine itself and the Forms EC8A, explaining that full statement of the governor-elect filed on oath at the tribunal was explicit and detailed.

For the benefit of members of the public, there are two aspects to the defence with respect to APC’s claim of over-voting.

The first aspect is that the over-voting in 750 polling units as claimed by Oyetola/APC in their petition is false over-voting created by the incomplete data of BVAS based on the unsynchronised BVAS report.

This does not represent what is on the BVAS machine itself and the Forms EC8A.

The correct result is as captured in the synchronised BVAS report which tallies with the data on the BVAS MACHINE itself.

The defence also affirmed further that even if the false over-voting in the unsynchronised BVAS report is unlikely admitted, the PDP will still be leading if votes from the affected six polling units are removed, adding however that “such admission is, however, impossible because the Tribunal will never rely on the unsynchronised BVAS report because is at variance with what is contained on the BVAS machine itself.”

The statement while clarifying that the digital footprint of the BVAS machine is verifiable, submitting that both governor-elect and INEC have put the BVAS machines itself before the tribunal for examination.

The statement further noted that, “from the analysis on the BVAS machine itself and the Form EC8A which are the primary source as against BVAS report which is secondary, real over-voting occurred in only six polling units, submitting that if the votes in those six polling units are cancelled, PDP’s score will be 402,000 plus while the APC’s will be 374,000″.

We must emphasize that the BVAS report is secondary evidence, while the BVAS machine itself and the EC8A are primary source”, restating that “No Tribunal will believe a challenged secondary source while the primary source is physically before it”.

“We have gone into these details to show that Senator Adeleke never admitted in the polling units challenged by the APC/Oyetola except in only 6 polling units where there is real over-voting as contained in the BVAS machine itself and the forms”.

Senator Ademola Adeleke, therefore, urged APC and Mr Oyetola to stop media trial as it will not intimidate the Tribunal nor sway public opinion to believe in the habitual lying and propaganda of the defeated party.

Also speaking, the Director-General, Oyetola Campaign Council, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, who noted the APC was being provoked as its campaign billboards, posters and banners were being destroyed by suspected political thugs, assured that the party would continue to avoid inciting and abusive utterances and actions before, during and after the governorship election.

In a remark, Osun APC Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun noted the meeting was apt, expressing optimism that such meeting with other political parties in the gubernatorial race would yield good results.

In his words, an ace musician who doubles as” Vote don’t fight “Ambassador” Mr Innocent Idibia had commended Governor Oyetola for giving room for youth and women participation, emphasizing the need to sustain the practice.

Osun state government says it takes over the reconstruction of the Osogbo-Okinni-Ilobu federal roads to alleviate the hardship road users face while plying the road.

One of the opposition parties in Osun state, the Accord Party had in a statement accused the State Government of taking over a road project that had already been awarded by the Federal Government.

Reacting in a statement, the Chief Press Secretary to the Osun state Governor, Mr Ismail Omipidan described the party’s claims as unfortunate, lame and illogical.

Mr Omipidan noted the road had been in a deplorable condition for so long and government could not afford to allow citizens continue to suffer on the road, saying the government followed due process in taking over the project.

He said while the contract for the rehabilitation of the road had been truly awarded by the federal government on two different occasions since 2012, no concrete work had been done on the project, a development he said forced the State government to take over the project.

“The contract for rehabilitating the road was first awarded by the federal government 10 years ago, but since then, no significant work has been done on the project that has caused so much hardship for our people who use the road.

“It was for this reason that the Governor Adegboyega Oyetola-led administration decided to take over the project to address the needless sufferings and loss of man-hours on the facility,” Omipidan explained.

He further noted that Accord party should be more concerned on how to sell its candidate to the people of Osun rather than engaging in a futile exercise.

“The party’s comments on the take-over of the road project by the State government are lame and illogical,” he added.

Omipidan further said: “Accord Party should simply bury its head in shame. Are they saying we should continue to allow the people of Osun to suffer under our administration simply because the road belongs to the federal government?

“If they were discerning enough and if they had listened to Mr. Governor’s speech on the day we flagged off the reconstruction of that road, I am sure they would not bother themselves issuing a statement that lacks substance.

“Mr. Governor said it clearly in his speech that the road contract was awarded about 10 years ago and that as a state government, even though it is a federal government project, we did everything possible to support all the contractors that have had cause to work on that road. But there was no positive result.

“The argument on the timing of the award of the project is preposterous and ill-judged. A government can award a project contract even a week to its expiration, as long as it is in the overall interest of the State and its people.

“During the Governor’s January broadcast, he stated it clearly that though 2022 is going to be an election year but as a responsible governor, he will not allow politics to over shadow governance, so if anything, the Governor should be commended for walking his talk.’

Mr Omipidan advised Accord party to be more concerned on how to sell its candidate to the people instead of attacking the governor.

Osun State Government has appealed to all aggrieved parties and indigenes of the Igbaye Community, to embrace and promote peace above personal interests.

The appeal followed the civil unrest witnessed in Igbaye, Odo-Otin Central Local Government Area, on Sunday over chieftaincy issues.

In a statement signed by Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode, the state government said the situation had been brought under control and security operatives had moved into the community to ensure and maintain peace.

According to the statement, chieftaincy tussles are not strange in traditional societies, but Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, since the beginning of his administration, has proved that there is no royal tussle too intense to be resolved by peaceful negotiations.

The government in the statement implores residents and citizens to channel their grievances to appropriate authorities and resist the temptation of taking law into their own hands.

It notes that it is better to dialogue on issues causing controversies in the town than to war over it.

Osun Government says improved aesthetics, expansion of the scope of work and torrential rainfall witnessed in Osogbo coupled with the desire not to compromise standards are factors responsible for the delay in completing the Olaiya Flyover this November as earlier scheduled.

The government, however, assured that with the current stage and pace of work, the project would be delivered before the end of the year.

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola had promised Osun State residents that the project would be ready by November 27th, while flagging off the construction of the flyover in February this year.

The Osun State Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Mr. Remi Omowaiye, in an interview with journalists, said the need to perform all due diligence for the structural stability of the flyover contributed to the delay.

He added that because of the depth of the retaining wall, the consultant insisted that it had to be in layers and each of the layers had to be tested before work proceeded.

The commissioner explained that at the beginning of the project, some weeks were lost because the consultant insisted that the samples of the reinforcement and the rock under it must be taken to three different laboratories in different states to satisfy all due diligence before proceeding.

Mr. Omowaye said all these were responsible for the reason the flyover would not be opened up this month as earlier promised.

While pleading for the understanding of residents of the state, he assured that with the level of work done so far, before the end of December, the Olaiya Flyover would be open to the public.

Osun State Government says, increase in the prices of food items will not affect the quality of food components it is offering to vulnerable citizens through the Osun Food Support Scheme.

A statement by the Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Mr. Olalekan Badmus says the government is aware that the prices of food items has significantly increased compared to when the scheme was flagged off on April 1, 2020.

Mr. Badmus who chairs the scheme assured that the state would continue to feed 30,000 poor and vulnerable citizens across all the local governments of the state.

He said the programme was a well-thought-out initiative of the state governor, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, to identify with the less-privileged, those who are challenged and those who do not have.

The commissioner said 150,000 people had so far benefitted from the scheme, and another 30,000 would benefit from the current phase of the programme.

He added that the government was looking at the possibility of adding other components like wheat to the regular rice and semovita that had been alternated over the previous editions.
