Tertiary institutions have been challenged to come up with research proposals on innovations that would reduce the burden of poverty in Nigeria

Speakers at the experiment of Nutri-Active baby food, locally produced through a Tetfund research grant at the University of Ibadan threw the challenge in their various speeches at the event.

The Tetfund principal investigator of the intervention project, Professor Kuta Yahaya, said the initiative aimed to reduce malnutrition, poverty and child mortality in Nigeria. 

Professor Yahaya noted that with the introduction of NutriActive Baby food, mothers can now feed their babies wholesome and nutritious food without breaking the bank on imported foods.

The Director General of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, in a keynote address, said the intervention project was apt in tackling the escalating cost of children’s upbringing, noting that the early years of life were pivotal in shaping the health, growth and development of the Nigerian child.

Represented by the Zonal Director, Radio Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr. Dominic Mokikan, Dr. Bulama urged adults to eat right to prolong their life expectancy.

Our correspondent, Dayo Adu reports that the Nutriactive baby food is a complementary food for infants, an intervention project of the research team from the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, University of Ibadan.

The baby food is formulated through the combination of plant-based local grains with 23 nutrients capable of enhancing the rapid development of babies from six to twenty-four months displayed in different combinations of rice, soya beans, orange, fresh potato, banana and dates with no preservatives and additives.

The infants accepted the food, prepared and tested on babies by their mothers at the maternity unit of the University of Ibadan Health Services.

Two mothers, who relayed their experiences while feeding their babies with the food, lauded the initiative by the University’s research team.

Earlier in his speech, while unveiling the Nutriactive baby food, the Vice Chancellor, of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, of Administration, Professor Peter Olapegba stated that the university was focusing its research on solving national multi-sectoral problems, calling on the government to invest in the mass production of the baby food for local consumption and export purposes.

Staff of Radio Nigeria, Gold FM have been urged to take ownership of the newly provided facilities, guard them, and utilize them efficiently and professionally for required sustainability.

The Zonal Director, FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr Dominic Mokhikan made the call during a meeting with staff and the Management team of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN Gold FM, Ilesa. 

While emphasizing that the facilities are for everyone, Mr. Mokhikan said getting the equipment from the National Headquarters was made possible through God.

The Zonal Director, Ibadan Zonal Station urged personnel to avoid intentional mistakes in the course of duty and show more willingness as well as dedication to work.

Earlier in his welcome address, the General Manager, Gold FM, Mr. Dokun Ladele appreciated the Zonal Director’s efforts towards resuscitating the station for better transmission and welfare of personnel in Ibadan Zonal Station.

In separate remarks, Mr. Adenitan Akinola from the News Department and Mr. Femi Niyi from the Marketing Department commended Mr. Mokhikan for his unique style of leadership.

This was the Scripture that has been the guiding light for a veteran journalist, Sir Oluwole Falodun, as he appreciated God for the gift of life as he turned 81.

Sir Falodun was born on November 22, 1942.

He enrolled as a steward at Saint Peter’s Church, Faji and was the pioneer Public Relations Officer of the Diocese of Lagos on appointment in 1985 by Bishop Abiodun Adetiloye later Archbishop and Primate, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion.

Sir Falodun who has been a steward for the past fifty-eight years is the initiator of LADGOS and was also the first LADGOS Publicity Secretary at inauguration in 1986.

He planned and coordinated the first ordination in Badagry, Advent 1986.

Sir Falodun introduced photography, drumming/dancing and clapping during worship services in the diocese which were a taboo then.

Bishop Akinpelu Johnson who was then a chorister at the cathedral is a living witness.

Sir Falodun was also a member of the Public Relations Consultant Association of Nigeria, PRICAN.

During his professional career, he was the Group Relation Manager of BAYAN, a German company.

He also worked with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, where he retired from in 1995.

Sir Falodun who has spent 81 years in the Land of the Living has been visually-impaired since 1995.

The New Director General and Chief Executive Officer, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Dr Muhammed Bulama has assumed office at the Corporation’s Headquarters, Radio House, Abuja.

Dr Bulama who made his first familiarisation tour of the Corporation Thursday was received by the Outgone Director General, Dr Mansur Liman, the Management Committee and top officials.

The New Director General who appreciated the Management and Staff of FRCN, promised that good concept of ideas would be initiated, sustained and also replicated in all other FRCN stations across the country.

He reassured the Corporation of his unflinching support for it to excel and continue to be flagship of Broadcasting in the Country as the station with the widest coverage.

Dr Muhammed Bulama is a graduate of Political Science and Administration from the University of Maiduguri, Bormo State.

He was a member of Editorial Board and Opinion Columnist, Vanguard Newspapers.

Dr Bulama was at a time the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Bormo State during the Administration of Senator Kashim Shettima who is now the Vice President of Nigeria.

Before his appointment as the Director General, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Dr. Muhammed Bulama was the Senior Special Assistant, SSA, to the President on Political and Special Duties, Office of the Vice President.

The Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Dr. Mansur Liman has charged the newly admitted students of the National Broadcast Academy, NBA, to be dedicated to their course of study during the programme.

Dr. Liman gave the charge during an orientation programme for the Batch C students of the academy held at the FRCN Training School in Ikeja, Lagos.

The director-general who was represented by the Director of the Training School, Mallam Danladi Kwache, said a conducive learning environment has been provided by the school management to ease learning.

Mallam Kwache stated that the academy is poised to inculcate the prerequisite knowledge in students for them to become world-class professionals in the broadcast industry.

He urged the students to be disciplined and attentive throughout the academic programme.

Contributing, the Director of Academics, Mr. Segun Akinoya advised the students to attend classes regularly and maximize every opportunity to learn during their stay in the school.

Mr. Akioya added that the school would continue to maintain standards as it contributes to the growth of the broadcast industry.

The Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan, Mr. Dominic Mokikan has solicited the assistance of Oloko traditional ruler, Oba Dr. Solomon Akinola to enhance consistency and stability of Ogo Ilu FM on air.

Mr. Dominic Mokikan made the appeal during his courtesy visit to the palace of Oranmiyan of Oko land.

The FRCN Ibadan ZD, who was accompanied by the management team of Ogo Ilu FM to the Oranmiyan palace, maintained that Ogo Ilu FM, one of the branches of Radio Nigeria in the Southwest station was in need of assistance at this point in time.

Speaking specifically on what the station needs were, Mr Mokikan appealed to the monarch to assist the station in consulting wealthy indigents of Oko in Nigeria and abroad to provide solar energy, utility vehicles and other useful equipment for Ogo Ilu FM, noting that Radio Nigeria is for all.

He appreciated the Oranmiyan of Okoland and his chiefs for working harmoniously with the station, promising that Radio Nigeria would not relent in its primary duties of information, education and entertainment.

 Responding, the Oloko of Okoland, Oba Solomon Akinola commended the zonal director, and promised to look into all the requests made with the assistance of members of Oko Development Association (ODA), pointing out that the requests made of the community are achievable.

 Oba Solomon Akinola thanked the management team for the visit.

Obituary

A former acting Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, lbadan Zonal Station, Pastor Zacchaeus Oloruntola is dead.

Pastor Oloruntola died on Friday, at his Elebu residence, lbadan during a brief illness at the age of 62.

The deceased who retired from FRCN three years ago after 35 years of meritorious service was renowned for his hardwork, diligence and humility.

Reacting to the news of his death, the Zonal Director, FRCN, lbadan Zonal Station, Mr Dominic Mokhikan described the demise of Pastor Oloruntola as a huge loss to the entire FRCN family.

Mr Mokhikan noted that the death of Pastor Oloruntola when his services were mostly needed even in retirement was unfortunate.

The Zonal Director prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest and the family the courage to bear the irreparable loss.

Meanwhile, sympathisers mostly family friends, former working associates and neighbours have continued to pay condolence visit  to the house of the deceased.

Our correspondent reports that people were seen in groups discussing the incident.

Two of the children of the deceased,Victor and Favour described their late father as a caring man who left behind a good legacy for them.

Wife of the deceased, Dr Racheal Oloruntola said he was a father, mentor and spiritual leader for the family, who would be remembered for long as a man who distinguished himself serving humanity and God.

A Renowned Ibadan based Ace Broadcaster, Alhaji Ismaila Olaniyan popularly known as Dokita Bayonle, has officially bowed out of active service of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, also known as Radio Nigeria.

Our Correspondent reports that the retirement of Alhaji Olaniyan was a double celebration as it coincided with his 60th birthday.

Prominent dignitaries from all walks of life, friends, Colleagues in Radio Nigeria,, family and some of his fans graced the double celebration of his retirement and birthday, which was held at the Felicia Hall, Jogor Centre, Ibadan, Oyo State.

In his address, the Celebrant who meritoriously served the Nation through dissemination of various programmes that promoted the Unity of this Country, expressed gratitude to God for enabling him to start his career well and ended without any  blemish, stating that he has no regrets working with the Radio Nigeria.

Alhaji Olaniyan attributed his successes in the Media profession to the cooperation of his Bosses and junior colleagues and the goodwill he enjoyed from the public.

He appreciated the Management of Radio Nigeria for the opportunity given to him to exhibit his God given potential, urging Members of Staff not to deviate from the professional standard of the Corporation.

While eulogising the Celebrant, some of the people who had worked with him, described him as a dedicated professional Media guru and a goal getter who used his programmes to uplift humanity.

Wife of the Celebrant, Alhaja Modinat. said her husband has been a dependable and complete family man who never allowed his media profession to have negative effects on his home, saying he combined the two with diligence and responsibilities.

The highlights of the event were Launch of the Book written by the Celebrant, cutting of the birthday, Retirement cake and presentation of gifts from  different people to the retiree, while the Popular Musician, Dr. Yinka Ayefele was on the Microphone stand to sing various melodious  songs.

Alhaji Ismail Olaniyan, Dokita Bayonle who joined the Services of Radio Nigeria, Ibadan as an Artiste in 1986 and fully employed as a Staff of the Corporation in 1995, was the Presenter of a Popular Yoruba Programmes “Temitope and Labe Orule Bayonle” on Amuludun FM, 99.1, an Arm of Radio Nigeria Ibadan.

The Zonal Director, Radio Nigeria Ibadan National Station, Mr Dominic Mokikan has charged members of staff of Positive FM Akure to be more diligent in the discharge of their duties

Mr Mokikan gave the charge while presenting letters of Promotion to some Positive fm staff in Akure.

He said their promotion was a result of the hard work they exhibited in the past and encouraged to be more commitment to duty.

Mr Mokikan restated his determination to enhance staff welfare and also make the workplace conducive for them.

The General Manager, Positive FM Akure, Mrs Olubunmi Olalere congratulated the newly promoted staff, urging them to be more hardworking.

Earlier, Head of Admin, Ibadan National Station, Mr Adebayo Esho had encouraged the staff to be always good ambassadors of Radio Nigeria through good conduct and professionalism.

Former Ondo State governor, Retired General Ekundayo Opaleye wants recipients of chieftaincy titles to regard the honour as a platform for more service to humanity.

Retired General Opaleye gave the advice in Abeokuta, at a reception in honour of a former Senior Special Assistant to Ogun State governor on Media, Chief Funmi Wakama and her husband, Chief Ene on their installation as the Yeye Fiwagboye and Fiwagboye of Owu Kingdom.

The former Ondo State governor, who was the chairman at the event held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, advised Mrs Funmi Wakama, who was also retiring from the service of the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA and her husband to continue to promote harmonious relationship among the people around them.

Also, former governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, while addressing the gathering, applauded Chief Ene Wakama for supporting his wife to reach the top of her career in the tasking field of journalism, describing the former General Manager of NTA Abeokuta as a courageous personality and a goal getter. 

The Olowu of Owu, Egbaland, Oba Saka Matemilola had earlier at the Oke Ago Owu Palace installed Chief Funmi Wakama and her husband Chief Ene Wakama as the Yeye Fiwagboye and Fiwagboye of Owu Kingdom at an event  chaired by former Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and attended by dignitaries including Senator Tolu Odebiyi, the Executive Secretary Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, Dr Yemisi Bangbose and the General Manager, Radio Nigeria, Paramount FM, Abeokuta, Mr. Akinyinka Akintola.

Highlight of the reception was the unveiling of the Funmi Wakama Foundation and Media Outfit by the retiring NTA Director.

The Broadcasting House Ibadan helmsman, who explained that the Committee of Management was making frantic effort to ensure the station stays on air, called on members of staff to come up with suggestions and ideas to solve myriad of challenges the station is facing.

The Zonal Director while reeling out a number of successful strides by the Management under his charge, lauded members of the Committee of Management for their support, and equally charged staffers to continue to be diligent and hardworking.

Radio Nigeria Ibadan Staff Unity Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd has held it’s 3rd Annual General Meeting, AGM, at the Broadcasting House, Dugbe, Ibadan.

The AGM which provided a golden opportunity for the members of the society to review the financial state of the society, witnessed inauguration of the new executive to steer the ship of the society for another 2 years.

While speaking, the Director, Cooperative Services, Ministry of Trade, Investments and Cooperative, Oyo State, Alhaja Medinat Adedeji enjoined members of the cooperative society to increase their monthly savings for maximum benefit in the future.

In a remark, the Zonal Director, FRCN, Ibadan, Mr. Dominic Mokikan, represented by the Deputy Director Programmes, Reverend Niyi Dahunsi advised the cooperators to embrace prompt repayment of their loans to pave ways for others to benefit.

Mr Mokikan stressed the need for the staff to inculcate the habit of savings rather than engaging in wasteful spendings.

Earlier, the re-elected president of the society, Mrs Tola Daramola promised to continue to operate an all-inclusive policies that would better the general interest of the members.

“The cooperative society is to foster economic cooperation among the staff members who, pool funds together for their interest”.

In an interview, two members of the society, Alhaji Nafiu Busari and Mrs Stella Oyebanji commended the Tola Daramola-led executive for transparency and accountability which had engendered many members of staff to join the society.

The AGM was attended by the members of the Committee of Management, C.O.M, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Office, and some retirees of the station.

Highlights of the event were dancing, wining and dining where members and guests served themselves with sumptuous meals.

Asabari FM, Radio Nigeria’s newest station has been Inaugurated by the Director General of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dr. Mansur Liman in Saki, in Oke-ogun area of Oyo state.

The ceremony attracted prominent indigenes and traditional rulers, various groups and clerics including the committee of management, FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station to witness the inauguration of the first federal government radio station in the area Asabari 88.3fm.

Director General FRCN, Dr. Mansur Liman, in his speech before Inaugurating the station who described Ibadan national station as the home of radio, expressed optimism that the people of the host community would now enjoy the professionalism and objective reportage offered by the Radio Nigeria Network.

Earlier in an address of welcome, The Zonal Director, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr. Dominic Mokikan, explained that with the Inauguration of Asabari FM, Radio Nigeria now boast of the largest radio network with over 40 FM Stations and enjoined the host community not to relent in their continued support.

President, Saki Parapo, Dr. Festus Adejumobi expressed happiness on the establishment of Asabari FM, saying the people had been linked to the mainstream of public information and mass orientation.

Facilitator of the station, and Member representing Atisbo/Saki East and Saki West Federal Constituency, Mr. Olajide Olatunbosun said the establishment of the station as a community project was to meet the yearning of his constituents of their inaccessibility to federal government radio network owned by the People.

Other dignatories who spoke at the event expressed joy that their voices would now be heard loud and clear across the nation.

Media professionals covering Saturday Presidential and National Assembly Elections have been advised to be objective and neutral in their reportage. 

The Deputy Director, New Media, Ibadan Zonal Station of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Dr Sola Agboola gave the advice while training staff of Paramount FM Abeokuta in preparation of the coverage of the Country’s Elections. 

Dr Agboola urged the journalists to study their environment, be safety conscious while carrying out their tasks during the election and avoid using provocative language that could trigger violence.

He also appealed to journalists to facts check stories in order to maintain the ethics of the profession, avoid spreading unfounded stories and ensure accuracy in every story to maintain the dignity of the pen profession.

The General Manager Paramount Fm Abeokuta, Mr Akinyinka Akintola who appreciated Dr Agboola for training the staff on effective coverage of the 2023 elections, promised to prioritize the welfare of members covering the general election.

The saying “Those who touch our lives stay in our hearts forever” came to bear as family, friends and colleagues shared testimonies of their encounter with the Late Mr. Bolanle Ibironke Osofisan at a funeral service held at New Covenant Church, Oke Bola centre, Ibadan.

Radio Nigeria reports that those who spoke during the service fought back tears while recounting their experiences with the deceased, which they said would forever be cherished.

Speaking on behalf of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Deputy Director, Engineering Services, Engineer Gabriel Ajayi described Mr Osofisan as a dedicated staff, who was loved by both his superior and subordinate colleagues.

Two of the deceased daughters, who also spoke at the service, said they could not have wished for a better father than Bolanle Osofisan.

In a sermon, Deputy General Overseer, New Covenant Church, Reverend Olufemi Oyelade described Mr Osofisan as a pleasant man, who served God with all his heart.

Reverend Oyelade urged family members and the congregation to think of their end and take solace in the godly lifestyle of the deceased, bearing in mind that he had gone to be with his Maker.

Radio Nigeria reports that Special prayers were offered for the family of the deceased.

Until his death, Mr Bolanle Ibironke Osofisan was an Assistant Chief Engineer with Premier FM, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN.

Born to the family of the Late Pa Joel and Mrs Julianna Osofisan, Mr Bolanle Osofisan was a native of Ijebu Ode, Ogun state.

He is survived by his wife and children.

Cerebral, Dynamic, Thorough, Versatile, Focused, Dogmatic, Dogged, Forthright, Hardworking and dedicated are just a few of the words that aptly describe the man, Timothy Bamidele.

Timdayle, as fondly called by colleagues, joined the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, on 13th July 2006.

His journalism career began in Radio Nigeria, Gold FM, Ilesa, Osun State, as a volunteer in 2005, providing pro bono service for a year, after leaving a government job as a secondary school teacher.

Having proved his mettle in his one-year free service at Radio Nigeria, Timothy was employed as a full-time staff of the corporation in 2006, serving in various capacities as a reporter, covering different beats, editor and producer.

Timdayle served as a State House correspondent under the administrations of Governors Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Rauf Aregbesola and was as well Osun State House of Assembly correspondent.

To his credit, he played a remarkable role in the installation of the first-ever woman Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, headquarters.

In further pursuit of excellence, Timothy was able to secure multiple training opportunities within and outside the country.

These include Radio Netherlands Training Centre, RNTC, and United Nations Training Institute and Research, UNITAR.

He won fellowship awards crisscrossing Nigeria, covering assignments within and outside the country.

A goldfish that has no hiding place, Timothy’s expertise in Information Communication Technology, ICT,  where he carved a niche for himself, came to the limelight, and within the shortest time and by divine providence, he was transferred to Ibadan to pioneer Online Unit, Ibadan Zonal Station of Radio Nigeria.

Having made a highly significant mark at the Online Unit of Ibadan station, Timdayle was redeployed at the instance of the Director-General, Dr Mansur Liman to Abuja Headquarters of the corporation to serve as Multi-Media manager of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Abuja.

On merit, this new Media icon worked as a Digital Media Assistant at the United Nations Information Centre in Lagos from where he was seconded to the office of the Minister of Petroleum Resources as a Digital Media Assistant on the bill of God’s grace.

Having made a landmark contribution in his 17-year journey in FRCN, Mr Timothy Bamidele, voluntarily exited the services of the corporation on February 18, 2023.

His words, “ I believe and I’m convinced that only God can bestow multiple honours on a man’s life. My journey in FRCN has been a chequered one, paved with great and significant milestones and challenges, and it has come to a significant and remarkable apex”.

“I urge everyone to adapt, embrace transformation, and lift FRCN higher. It’s a great place with the finest of professionals. We remain one in the love of God and the affinity of noble journalism.

Thank you, Jesus. I came, saw, and conquered” Timothy added.

As Timothy Bamidele honourably bows out of service and moves on, it can be said of him that he left an indelible mark in the sands of time.

New Executives have emerged for the Nigerian Union of Journalists NUJ Osun State Chapter.

Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu emerged as the Chairman, Comrade Adeyemi Aboderin as the Secretary, Comrade Ademola Lawal as the Treasurer, Comrade Fagbohungbe Mayowa as the Assistant Secretary and Comrade Adegboye Saheed as the Auditor. 

In a remark, The Chairman, Osun NUJECO 2023, Comrade Abdulraheem Adekilekun of Osun State Broadcasting Corporation,OSBC noted that the contestants were duly screened by the National Executive of the Union and unanimously accepted by members of the Union. 

Earlier, The National President Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Chris Isiguzo represented by the Vice President B Zone, Mrs Ronke Samo urged members of the NUJ Osun State Chapter to Come together as one for the uplift of the union. 

Mrs Samo described the new executive members as dogged fighters and people with vision capable of steering the ship of the union. 

In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu of Federal Road Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Gold FM, promised to remodel the State NUJ Council, which every member would be proud of. 

Comrade Ajadosu, who appreciated leaders of the union in the state and members for their cooperation in the last three years, appealed for more support for him to succeed. 

Barrister Bukola Aderigbigbe and Oyesiku Adelu read the oath of office to the new executives. 

Meanwhile, Bye-elections would be held for the Positions of Vice Chairman and Financial Secretary, sequel to the decision of the National Secretariat.

Deputy Director News and General Manager Premier FM, Ibadan, Alhaji Aderemi Omotoso has been described as a thoroughbred professional.


Family, well-wishers and members of staff of Premier FM, Radio Nigeria Ibadan made this known during a send-off ceremony in honour of the out gone General manager, held at Premier FM Iyagunku, Ibadan.


While eulogizing the unique attributes of Alhaji Aderemi Omotoso, the staff described him as humble, upright and a realist who is dedicated and passionate about the progress of Radio Nigeria.

One of the guests, former Chairman, Nigeria Union Of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo State Council and Public Relations Officer, The Polytechnic Ibadan, Alhaji Soladoye Adewole expressed confidence in Alhaji Omotoso’s professionalism and morals on Radio Nigeria staff in maintaining a cordial relationship while in service.

Also speaking, the younger brother to the outgone Deputy Director News, Mr Abdul-hakeem Omotoso who was not surprised by the testimonies expressed by Premier FM staff said it was a confirmation of Alhaji Omotoso’s fatherly role in the family and in his community.

Earlier, Acting General Manager, Premier FM Ibadan, Mrs Toyin Ajayi-Ope wished Alhaji Omotoso good luck and God’s guidance at his retirement.


Reacting, Alhaji Omotoso appreciated God, family members and staff for the support throughout his years in service, appealing to younger colleagues to be focused and do their best in the discharge of their duties.


Highlights of the send-off ceremony were the cutting of the cake and the presentation of gifts.

Electrifying praise, prayers, dance and unquantifiable joy could best describe the atmosphere that characterised the new year thanksgiving organised by the Christian fellowship of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan, for staff of the corporation.

Members of staff gave thanks to God as they recalled various challenges of life surmounted last year.

The Zonal Director,FRCN, Ibadan, Zonal Director, FRCN Ibadan, Mr Dominic Mokikan represented by the Deputy Director of Engineering Services, Mr Gabriel Ajayi said it was good to show a heart of gratitude unto God for His mercies in the previous year. 

Mr Mokikan explained that, praising God should totally be part of human life, as he committed the new year in the hands of God.

Leading the members of staff in the prayers, Pastor Ademola Adegboyega, of The Redeemed Christian Church, underscored the importance of praising God as a strategy in achieving life goals.

He however urged Nigerians to be fervent in prayers, towards a hitch-free election.

Earlier, the President of FRCN Ibadan Christian fellowship, Pastor Taiwo Sowande told members of staff to remain grateful to God who had preserved their lives to witness another year.

 

The programme also featured special song renditions from various music ministers.

Staffers of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN have been challenged to uphold the standard of flagship of broadcasting in Africa.

The Zonal Director, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr Dominic Mokikan made the call during a visit to Radio Nigeria Ogo-Ilu FM Oko.

Mr Mokikan while stressing the importance of outstanding qualities of entertaining, educating and informing the public, noted that his visit was to energize the workers and motivate them to be more up and doing.

He gave assurance that his leadership had in mind, plans to improve staff welfare, stating that all hands must however be on deck to ensure that all discharged their duties accordingly for optimal performance.

The Zd also stressed the resolve of the station to prioritize manpower development through training and training of staffers.

The Zonal Director also advocated the need for unity of purpose in achieving organizational goals.

Mr Mokikan charged staffers to always prioritize corporate interest above other interests.

In a remark, the Head of Station, Mr.Segun Akanmu thanked the the zonal Director for the visit and promised to motivate his subordinates to do more for FRCN.

Healthcare is the most paramount thing any worker should put into consideration, in this sense, journalists have been advised to always go for medical checks to ensure they are in good health condition while carrying out their duties.

Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dr Mansur Liman, gave the advice during a medical outreach for all journalists in the federal capital territory at the radio house in Abuja.

The Director General, represented by the secretary of legal, Dr David Angbazo, said that the health of every journalist was critical to their effectiveness on the job.

In a welcome address, the Chairperson of the NUJ FRCN Headquarters chapel, Mrs Sandra Udeike pointed out that most journalists were usually very busy and sometimes neglect their health, which according to her could be detrimental.

Mrs Udeike gave an assurance that the union would continue to strive for the welfare of its members at all times.

Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria is on the course of restructuring the running operations of the news it dishes out to the general public.

Deputy Director, News and Current Affairs of Radio Nigeria, Ibadan National Station, Chief Tunde Abiodun stated this while presenting a paper of the Director- General of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dr. Mansur Liman’s entitled” Modern Innovation of News Package” to members of staff of the News Department of both Ibadan Zonal Station and Premier FM.

Dr. Liman, who called for restructuring of News Production, advised supervisors and editors to guide and influence reporters in their news reportage.

In a remark, General Manager, Premier FM Ibadan, Alhaji Bashir Omotosho, expressed delight with the DG’s paper which according to him was a way of improving productivity.

Earlier, the Zonal Director ,FRCN Ibadan, Mrs Bolatito Joseph who was represented by the Assistant Director Administration, the Reverend Joshua Esho pledged Radio Nigeria’s  commitment to  maintaining the standard for which it is known for.

Mrs Joseph urged members of staff to continue to carry out their duties with a renewed commitment to duties.

Great joy, excitement, beauty, dazzling laurels, and thought-provoking speeches described the ambiance at the  2nd Annual General Meeting of Radio Nigeria Ibadan Staff Unity Multipurpose Cooperative Society  Limited, held on Wednesday, 8th June 2022.

Members could not but dance and rejoice as they recounted achievements recorded so far and victories won in turbulent times as master DJ, Dayo  Adenuga thrilled the audience to ecstasy with melodious tunes.

The Red carpet was also rolled out to appreciate the unflinching support and heroic contributions of some members towards the progress of the society.

They include the Zonal Director FRCN, Ibadan, Mrs Bolatito Joseph, for her exceptional contributions to the society and the visioner, Reverend Adeoye Sanda. He was represented by his wife,Faramade Sanda.

Reverend Sanda was described as an Iroko tree for being able to weather the storm in the challenging times and stand for a just course.

Also honored are, Director, Lagos Operations, Mrs Bolanle Owoyemi, Deputy Director Internal Audit, Mr  Adewale Akande and Deputy Director Marketing, Mr Adewale Afinjuomo.

Others are Mr Nureni Olatunbosun of the Engineering Department and Mr  Christopher Omoh, who all remained committed to the course of the society through the thick and thin.

Special recognition was equally given to a Retired  Director of News, Reverend Olusegun Ayankoso, and Pastor Dare Olorunfemi also a retired Director of News, FRCN  for their support to the Union.

President of the Society, Mrs Olutola Daramola thanked members for their cooperation and harped on discipline to sustain the society and realize its goals “Without mincing words, I want to say that members of this society have surpassed our imagination in many ways. They are committed, forward-looking, team players, always encouraging and disciplined in the discharge of their financial responsibilities to the society. Discipline remains an essential ingredient for being a co-operator. Discipline in ensuring you meet your obligations to the society and discipline in saving for the rainy days”.

Director Oyo State Ministry of Trade, Investments and Cooperatives  Alhaja Medinat Adedeji, represented by one of the officials in the Ministry, Alhaji Mohammed Rabiu, encouraged people to invest in cooperative societies as a reliable place to achieve in life.

Earlier, the Zonal Director,  FRCN Ibadan, Mrs  Bolatito Joseph urged members of the society to increase their savings in the cooperative as this was a way of getting big returns.

Mrs Joseph said “it is what you give that you get, if you don’t drop any money don’t expect great returns”.

High point of the ceremony was the inauguration of Radio Nigeria Staff Unity Multipurpose Cooperative Society’s office by the Zonal Director, Mrs Bolatito Joseph. The foundation of the building was laid on February 1, 2022.

Commitment to duty is imperative to take any organusation to greater heights.

The Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mrs Bolatito Joseph made this known at Radio Nigeria Paramount FM, Abeokuta, when she visited the station to distribute promotion letters to newly elevated staff.

The Zonal Director who decried what she described as lackadaisical attitude among members of staff, stressed that discipline was sacrosanct and must be embraced by everyone.

On corruption, Mrs Joseph tasked all staff to do the right thing at the right time and eschew corrupt acts.

The assistant Director Administration, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr Adebayo Esho in a remark enjoined staff to be devoted to their duties and discharge their responsibilities efficiently as the corporation would no longer tolerate disregard to established rules and regulations.

The General Manager, Paramount FM Abeokuta, Mr Akinyinka Akintola appreciated the Zonal Director for her supports to the station.

News and Current Affairs Department of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station on Thursday, May 12, 2022, held a retirement party for three former members of staff of the Department.

The Retirees are Former Director, News and Current Affairs, Elder Adenrele Ajisefinni, former Assistant Director of News, Chief Sola Adewale and Former Controller of News, Chief Olukayode Babalola.

Dignitaries at the event included the Onibuji of Ibuji in Ondo state, Oba Folagbade Ojo, who conferred Erelu chieftaincy Title on the Zonal Director of the Corporation, Mrs Bolatito Joseph, Politicians, veteran Journalists, family and friends of the retired staff.
