The Centre for Research in Qur’anic Studies, Yobe State University has agreed to partner with the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education to address issues related to illiteracy, skill acquisition, and entrepreneurship.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof Mohammed Mala Daura, stated this when the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Dr Muhammad Sani Idris, paid him a courtesy visit.

Prof Daura, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dr Bukar Jamri said the University is grateful that the Commission found it worthy of a collaboration that would lead to the accomplishment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Other areas of partnership according to the Vice Chancellor include; the prevention of youth poverty, delinquency, and destitution in Yobe State and the Northeast.

He explained that the collaboration would help in the integration of Qur’anic and Tsangaya education, stressing that the University has other specialized centres that can strategically partner with the Commission.

He revealed that the specialized centers include; the centre for Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, the Centre for Research and Capacity Development on Humanitarian Studies, and the Centre for Continuing Education.

The Vice-Chancellor, who further announced the appointment of the Executive Secretary as a Member of the Advisory Council of the Centre for Research in Qur’anic Studies, also honoured him with the award of Servant of Qur’anic Education in Northeast Nigeria (Khadimu-Al-Ulumu Al-Qur’aniyyah fih shimal sharq Nijeriya).

In a remark, the Executive Secretary of, the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children, Dr Muhammad Sani Idris said they were at the University to collaborate and share the vision of President Tinubu on Education, for Renewed Hope Agenda.

Dr Idris revealed that the Commission’s passion for revitalising Tsangaya Education in the Northern part of the country was the reason Yobe State University was chosen as one of its targets to draw a roadmap for the 36 States of the Federation.
