Palliative work on the failed sections of the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Expressway is set to commence next Monday, bringing much-needed relief to motorists who have long endured the road’s poor condition.

The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, made the announcement during an inspection of the damaged portions of the road in Sagamu.

He acknowledged the severe hardship caused to motorists and assured that the federal government, under the president’s directive, would ensure the road is fixed by the end of the year.

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who accompanied the minister during the inspection, highlighted the numerous complaints his administration has received from road users and the state’s prior efforts to carry out temporary repairs.

He commended President Tinubu for being responsive to the people’s needs and praised the Minister of Works for his commitment to resolving the issue swiftly.

Governor Abiodun assured that once the palliative work begins, motorists across the seventeen southern states, as well as the rest of Nigeria, can expect significant improvements on the route in a short period.

He  said the repairs are expected to be completed by mid-December.
