A councillorship aspirant of All Progressives Congress APC in Ogun State, Adeleke Adeyinka was on Saturday killed at Jide Jones area of Abeokuta ,Ogun State.
According to witnesses, one of the assailants came down from a tinted car and shot the victim and later hit him with stones till he finally gave up the ghost.
It was gathered that the deceased was a former youth leader of Abeokuta South Local Government.
Meanwhile, Ogun State Police Command says it has launched an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing of a 40- year old Councillorship Aspirant by unknown gunmen at the Oke ilewo area of Abeokuta , the state capital.
The State’s Police Public Relations Officer, OmOlola Odutola while speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta, said the perpetrators of the crime who came in an unregistered Toyota Corolla sport car fled the scene to unknown location.
She further explained that an individual, identified as Adesanya Adeyinka had requested for the remains of the victim for burial without seeking a doctor’s examination or autopsy.
According to the Police Spokesperson, efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects, adding that the police will maintain an increased patrol to safeguard communities and prevent similar incidents.
