Osun state government says it is yet to commence community testing of Coronavirus.
The State Commissioner for Health, Doctor Rafiu Isamotu, stated this in Osogbo while speaking on the efforts of the state government to contain the spread of Covid-19.
Doctor Isamotu said the state was conducting Covid-19 test based on information from the community especially people with traveling history.
The Commissioner maintained that the state had been proactive in containing the spread of the virus through the enforcement of use of face masks, social distancing and promotion of hand washing among the citizenry.
He explained that government had early imposed four weeks total lockdown in the state, saying this step had helped the state to reduce the spread of the virus.
Doctor Isamotu who urged residents to continue to comply with state protocol on Covid-19, said the state may be left with no other option than to continue with its lockdown policy.
On his part, the Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, Mr Ismail Omipidan, said the state had sustained its sensitization programme in the rural community to prevent community spread.
Mr Omipidan noted that community engagement through traditional rulers had assisted the state in creating awareness about the virus in the rural communities.
Osun state has so far recorded sixty cases of Coronavirus, while forty four discharged, and five death recorded so far.
