Ogun State Police Command has arrested a twenty-seven years old internet fraudster, Obeta John arrested for killing his girlfriend Idowu Buhari, an HND1 Mass Communication student of Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade, Ogun State.

According to the State Police Command spokesman, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect was arrested by the Ode -Remo Divisional Headquarters after a report that the suspect was fighting with the deceased in his room.

He said the deceased was met in her pool of blood when police forced the door open. 

Mr. Oyeyemi said the victim was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty at the State Hospital Ishara on arrival.

He said the suspect on interrogation said that an amount of money from one of his clients was paid into the deceased account, which she refused to relinquish to him.

The police said the suspect also confessed that it was the argument over the said money that led to the scuffle which eventually led to her death.

Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lanre Bankole has since ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

An Osun state Magistrate court sitting in Osogbo the state capital has ordered the remand of a 49 year-old man Oyediran Mufutau Salami for allegedly obtaining over one million Naira with the pretense to present a plot of land 

The land speculator who is facing three count charges of obtaining money by false, cheating and converting the compliant money to his own use pleaded not guilty to the allegations preferred against him

The accused person was said to have committed the offense on September 19, 2020 at Uniosun Road Oke Baale Osogbo 

Police prosecutor, Inspector Olayiwola Rasaq told the court that the accused person did obtained the sum of ₦1,100,000.00 from one Amusat Abdulrafiu with pretense to secure him a plot of land.

He disclosed that the accused person did cheat and converted the sum of ₦1,100,000.00 obtained from the compliant to his own use. 

Defense Counsel, Mr Okobe Najite made an oral application for the bail of the accused person in most liberal term.

In her ruling, Magistrate Modupe Awodele ordered the remand of the accused person in Ilesa correctional facility.

She, thereafter, adjourned the matter till December 21,2020 for ruling on bail.
