The police in Oyo State has pledged to ensure that the security architecture would be restructured and re-modified to clamp down on criminalities in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr Adewale Osifeso stated this while parading some suspected criminals at police headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan.
He said the command has hinged on detailed stop-and-search activities, strategic intelligence sharing with relevant sister agencies, joint patrols across the metropolis and adjoining routes and deliberate intelligence-structured surveillance to ensure that the issues of insecurity become a thing of the past.
The PPRO said the command in concert and seamless partnerships with the; Military, Department of State Service, DSS, Nigeria Security and Civil, Defence Corps, NSCDC, Oyo State Security Network, Amotekun, Vigilantes and local hunters have resulted in the discoveries of criminal cells and hideouts, make-shift armouries, caches of unaccounted lethal ammunition, military uniforms and gear in Ibadanland its environs.
He noted that in the past few weeks, the command through strategic coordination of its operational and tactical assets took the assault to the doors of the criminally minded elements across the state, though at a cost, the command lost some of its officers who paid the supreme price.
He, therefore, called on caregivers, medical experts and traditional healers to report encountered cases of gunshot victims and injuries to the Police with promises of utmost confidentiality and protection of the sources, while residents alike are enjoined to jettison all negative narratives and perceptions about the police in exchange for trust and renewed sense of purpose.
Some of the suspects who were arrested for various offences ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery syndicate, and impersonation of military personnel to hijacking and diversion of vehicles.
They equally confessed to having perpetrated similar criminal activity in various parts of Oyo State and its neighbouring states.
The suspects are Adeniji Bukola, Sunday Daniel, Afeez Sulaiman, Kazeem Korede, Ope Dauda, Olanlokun Idowu, Saheed Nafiu, Sunday Kehinde, Yusuf Ismaila, Salawudeen Azeez, Moshood Isah, Afolayan and Babalola Lukman.
Other suspects are Amuda Usman, Zubairu Saeed, Mohamed Kuri, Mohammed Abubakar, Olatilewa Wasiu and Sikiru Olasupo.
The police spokesman added that the suspects would soon be charged in court.

Exhibits found with the suspects included, one Mitsubishi Canter vehicle with registration number SUL 982 KP, one Mazda bus with registration number KJA 777 XC, forty pieces of vehicle engines and one Bajaj motorcycle with registration number AGG 092 QN.
194 pieces of live AK ammunition, (5) five pairs of military camouflage uniforms and shirts, one electrical transformer, one Toyota Dyna truck with registration number LND 234 XM and the cash sum of one hundred and sixty-one thousand, two hundred naira only and a red Boxer motorcycle with registration number EGB 155 UR.
