The Inter Party Advisory Council IPAC has been torn apart by a leadership crisis in which the Chairman, Alhaji Yabagi Sani has been accused of plotting to elongate his tenure which has ended.

The leaders were called to a meeting by Alhaji Yabagi, who then proposed a motion to extend his term in office until next week when a fresh election would be held. This caused pandemonium, and Mr. Julius Abure, the national chairman of the Labour Party, stormed out of the meeting.

Alhaji Yabagi however maintained that the decision to elongate his tenure was to give room for an already planned national centenary program for political parties in the country.

But the national Secretary of IPAC and National Chairman of the Allied Peoples Movement, Alhaji Yusuf Dantali disagreed with Alhaji Yabagi and described his actions as illegal and alien to the IPAC constitution.

The Chairman of the electoral committee and national chairman of Zenith Labour Party, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu however gave assurance that all the issues would be resolved as he and his team were set to conduct a transparent election next week.
