The Ekiti State Government has started a massive rural road project that will span 1,000 kilometres across the state. 

A statement by the Special Adviser to the governor on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode says the project is aimed at improving the transportation of agricultural products to the markets and boosting the rural economy.

It explains that the project which is partly funded by the World Bank under the Rural Access and Agriculture Marketing Project, RAAMP, will cover 65.10 kilometres of road rehabilitation in several rural communities and farmsteads.

According to the statement, some of the roads to be constructed include Enu Odi-Itenu –Igirigiri Road, Omisanjana-Ben Folarin- Oke Aso Road Ara-Oye Road, Afolu-Odofin Road, Ise-Imola Road, Owode Anaye Road among others.

It says the project will continue until the middle of the year with a call on the communities and farmsteads that were not included in the first phase to be patient, as they would be covered in the next phases of the project.
