Ogun State Government has contributed N200 million to Borno to aid recovery efforts following a devastating flood that recently swept through the state destroying homes and displacing thousands of residents.

The donation was announced on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade.

Akinmade said the funds were intended to assist the flood victims and provide immediate relief to those affected.

He highlighted the severe humanitarian crisis caused by the flood, calling for collective support from Nigerians to help alleviate the suffering of the displaced residents.

Prior to the donation, Governor Dapo Abiodun had expressed his condolences to the people and government of Borno, commending the swift response to the disaster in coordination with Federal Government assistance.

The flood which ravaged Borno claimed about 30 lives in Maiduguri the state capital, with at least 414,000 people displaced.

Accordint to the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, the flood was triggered by the overflow of the Alau Dam after heavy rainfall.

It was the worst flooding Borno had seen in three decades.
