Motorists plying Ojoo-Iwo road axis of Lagos Ibadan Expressway have appealed to the Federal Government and the contractor handling the road project to urgently complete the remaining part of the road so as to further prevent road crash and loss of lives

One of the motorists, Mr James Oluwadotun who lamented the deteriorating condition of the road around Fijabi junction said, the uncompleted lane of the highway has become deathtrap due to uncontrolled erosion in the area.

The erosion according to Mr Oluwadotun  has resulted in the dredging of a deep and wide pit that could cause accident and lead to loss of life.

“This place is very dangerous now. It was not like this before. I don’t know why the contractors just leave work. Many vehicles always spoil on the road. Even there was an accident here before. Government should help us to get the work completed please. Scrapping of road that is even good is not right thing now. There are more worst road in Ibadan” he said

Mr Oluwadotun said motorists with poor vision and dim headlight could plunge into the ditch thereby causing avoidable death.

It will be recalled that in August this year about five people lost their lives in an accident involving a heavy duty truck and a passenger vehicle at the same spot.

As at the time of filing this report, our correspondent reports that motorists arriving the spot were drifting towards the inner lane of the road to prevent the occurrence of accident .
